Hermes Phone Orders

I know the stocked shelves are great for those of you who live near an H store, but for those of us who don't, the policy stinks. I'm still waiting for some clarification of the policy from my SA. She's great and wants me to get the items I've asked her to get...will have to wait and see.

One of the reasons I stopped shopping H retail was several boutiques would allow me to fill out a pre-authorization form for phone orders up to $5k for non leather goods, but my "home" boutique, where I've shopped for over 20 years, said NO phone orders. That was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Just heard from my SA that they all had to read and sign H policy documents regarding what they can and cannot do. Def no store to store leather transfers, except shoes. No charge and send on leather goods. No buying gift cards over the phone. No in-store holding of paid merchandise. Scarves are a completely different matter, as they can take phone orders on them. My SA said that the re-sellers "ruined it all" and she has lost many international customers. I feel sorry for the SAs, as they are caught between a rock and a hard place.

I do, too. I can hear the embarrassment in my SA's voice when she has to say "no" about something that used to be possible. Let's all remember that the SAs are not setting the policy, and let's try not to take out our frustration on them!

So I guess I have to buy from the resellers. By the time I pay to travel to an Hermes boutique (plane and hotel fees) it is less expensive buying on Ebay.
How can I buy at Hermes anymore unless I am at the boutique and pray that they have what I want.

Seems like the new policy will be a boom to the reseller market at least for awhile. Those resellers who buy from folks who live near a boutique are going to still be getting merchandise. The third thought is maybe there will be more clients who live near boutiques are going to become resellers.

The biggest question I have is why is this policy just for the U.S. You can't tell me Asia doesn't have an abundance of resellers. Are we, the US clients, being punished unjustly because H is shipping more to the Asian market?

My last thought is for the U.S. market to refrain from buying scarves for a year or more and see how H likes the push back. If there is one way to effect change is for people to voice their dissatisfaction is via boycott. Plus, one would have more money to invest for that inevitable rainy day.

ITA with all of your post. But this has crossed my mind, I do wonder how many "new" resellers we will see with this policy in place.

This is what I hope will happen with resellers--They will need to recruit new buyers to do in-person purchases now that the phone orders have been curtailed, and hopefully they will find such recruitment difficult!

So I understand most of it. If you are waiting for a particular item such as a bag and your store gets its, your SA will call you and say, you have X amount of hours to come get it and pay or you have lost it? You have to go pick it up and pay at the same time? They cant charge your card and hold it while you come get it? Is that how this policy works.

You summarize it too well !!:D

I thought you had a day to pick it up. I was told that at the H boutique this weekend. "We ask that you come in the same day."

O Ok. That is what I was curious about. I have my fingers crossed that my boutique will get me the bag I want and my SA has said that she working on getting it for me. So if it comes in soon I just need to know how much time I have to get there and pay and get it in my greedy little hands :graucho: I just hope the day it comes in I can drop everything and RUNNNN to the boutique.

I am not sure about SO bags, but that sounds just about right for most leather items. H is not taking charge cards over the phone according to my SA for leather items (except for shoes). I haven't put this policy to the test for scarves, but I know even for gift cards I had to go in person and have H swipe my credit card. My SA told me directly that this is bc of the resellers.
