Hermes Phone Orders

Interesting post varvara considering the PF members who have stated they will now buy from resellers or for that matter have already done so.

They have been doing that for a long time already, this is why one of the "guide/advice/discuss" threads is just on resellers/ ebay sellers kelly girl. Some resellers are also TPF members... But that is another topic.

And since we are on this subject, many bags that should/ could have been sold to regular H clients has been snapped up by resellers for bribes. This causes many H customers, the long time- ones, or even the newbies, who really want certain or just ANY H, bag to buy from resellers.

This is a very tricky circle and H is trying to gain some control over it by implementing the new policies. This problem does not have one layer, there are many.

the hermes store at richards in greenwich will be closing as of dec 31, 2012 and the new hermes corporate store will be opening in 2013 in the old best & co space known as the smith building, it is the most beautiful retail space on greenwich avenue IMO.....the hermes store at mitchell's in wesport will continue to stay open but for how long they are not sure - i was told that the hermes plan was to only have corporate stores going forward - i was also told that the reason inventory is so low is b/c hermes corporate thought the demand for goods would be in the east so they sent the bulk of their inventory there and that now they are in a scramble trying to get goods made and/or back to us/europe......

also, i was told from another store that SA's now have a three day hold on all bags....

so many rules!!!

i wonder if the LV stock purchase of H has the executives at H running around making changes trying to protect the company and their vested interest....(btw, hermes stock is up approx 75% from last year!! we should have been buying H stock on the bourse not bags!!)

biogcc2 - so happy you will be getting your bag! :smile1:

calisnoopy - i wonder why manhasset would not ship? i thought they are a non-corporate store? is it not anymore??

I wish I've three days to make a decision on bags. In the past month, I was given less than 24 hours to decide on a Bolide for a store transfer by my local store and the Vegas store informed me that I had only 30 minutes before they pass the B or K to another SA.

So if I don't call back within 30 minutes, I lose the bag. What kind of craziness is that ? If they were going to offer it to a customer that they valued, at least give someone 24 hours to think about it. If their bags are such hot cakes, it should not be a problem to release it later and sell it fast.

30 minutes to think on a purchase???? They are insane!! You are right, they should value their customers, and if the bags are that hot, there should not be a problem selling it after. They should at least give the customers 24 hours to think about it.

As of today, I was told by my local store that there is massive confusion on the new policy. Sounds like there is a new policy every week and they change it back and forth. At this point, they are not even sure if store transfer are allowed anymore so that would mean the local customers are stuck with whatever their store has.

By no means am I the resident expert at interpreting recent policy changes, but I understand that some stores (maybe all stores eventually?) started using a lottery type system to determine which SAs (and in what priority) are able to offer a particular bag to their customers. It's not an absolute time limitation, but I have witnessed first hand this 24 hours guideline in
practice. If the SA is not able to sell the bag to one of his clients within a specified time period, then the next-in-line SA is given the bag and so forth. Some SAs may call a client but are not able to reach her by phone and leave a message asking her to call back as soon as possible. To maximize the SA's chances of selling the bag, she may phone several of her customers until one of them takes the bag. Instead of waiting for the first client to return her call, she will just keep on calling down her customer list. If the first client doesn't phone her back before the SA finds another buyer she will have missed her chance. If a client agrees to buy but changes her mind later in the day, the SA will try to sell the bag to another one of her clients before her time period comes up. This explains why some clients may be called and given a short time period to make a buying decision. Keep in mind that the SA may be feeling some pressure from her colleagues who are impatiently waiting for their turns to spin the selling wheel. This would be consistent with H policy that no longer allows SAs to hold bags in the back for a customer who hasn't actually purchased the bag. HTH shed light on an otherwise confusing and dark H day!

I must be as thick as a brick. How do these new rules stop resellers? It is not like they walk in wearing an Reseller t-shirt ala the scarlett letter. It seems more like let's see how pissed off we can make customers? Btw, I'm still not buying the idea that things are changing in an effort to thwart reselling. No corporation operates in such fashion.

I chuckle at the short notice to decide. Unless I have a helicopter and they a landing pad on their roof there is no way I could get to the boutique in less than 1.5 hrs. Toss is bumper to bumper traffic and/or an accident, we are talking Mission Impossible.

Maybe H should institute an intelligence test to determine those who can purchase, or have a turn in a reseller program where you turn in the name of resellers and rack up gold stars. Get enough stars and you get to buy a purse..

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I am so with you here.

I think you and i probably shop at the same store. I work less than a mile away from the store as the crow flies. During rush hour, I'd be hard pressed to get there in 30 minutes.

You made me laugh. I loved your "think as a brick" statement! I'm right there with you.

My SA mentioned that she has 24hrs to sell the bag(B) so maybe that's why the time frame allotted to a customer to decide is so short?!??

Crazy that they impose 24 hours as if they can't let the bag gets warm in their stock room. They are the ones that drives this crazy buying IMHO. It is making existing customers buy and stuck with buyer's remorse if they don't have the time to think thru.

Have not heard of any company that wouldn't hold something for 24 hours for a customer.

Lala's interpretation of short notice is exactly right on. That's how I lost my chance to purchase a Geranium B if I was at a mall when cell phone signals are non existence.

I thought that stock should start flowing to the stores this month after fashion week and all the holidays backlog. My stores gets only a bag per week.

I'm beginning to think that birkins should be special order only. It certainly would make it easier - and they could charge even more! - to simply have a bespoke birkin and no "ready to wear". There would be no politics on what SA gets to sell what and when and while resellers might exist, they would not be able to run an operation that simply targets and buys up available stock (by being sneaky and bribes & taking it from the hands of regular old customers) since there would not be any and they would have to wait for their bags like the rest of us.

yes it is crazy but then again, it's obviously working since anything that gets offered to us seems so precious!
