Hermes Phone Orders

What should I do? I live in Michigan and now I'd have to spend money to fly to a boutique to order a bag then fly back months or years later to purchase? I guess my name is changing from "lovehermes" to "hatehermes". :pout: I hate to say it, but now I think I will be getting a "bargain" shopping with a reseller by saving hotel and airline prices just to walk into a boutique.

We are in the same boat. Now Im shopping for my scarfs and other goodies fr Ebay amd other resellers. I think Hermes mission is accomplished :D:D:wacko::confused1::wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko:

I am in the same circumstances as you. I don't know what I will do, but I agree, for the price of going to a boutique a reseller is now the bargin. Plus there will be no guarentee that when you go to the store that they will have what you want, as now they are not able to talk about any items over the phone...:wondering

Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but is this only for leather goods, or does it apply to all H goods, such as their silks? Thanks!

This afternoon I was told by a store at which I have always shopped that because I live in another state they can no longer assist me with ANYTHING. This store has always emailed pictures and done phone orders because most of their clients are long distance.

I responded how terrible it must be for the store to lose its primary customer base and all that revenue.

Lala I can't believe it myself! There are so many members here which are Huge spenders at H and I think they have lost their minds to stop serving them!! I wonder how much money they will lose in one year alone? *Note:I am not one of the big spenders!!:p*

I am thinking that Hermes new or enforced policies are driving their loyal customer base to resellers because their website is inadequate, and the bricks and mortar store policies are alienating. Their business will strictly be tourist or local walk-ins. But I am shocked that the SA said that they would do NOTHING for you with given everything that you purchase regularly.

Perhaps, Hermes thinks this is a way to grow revenue in a worldwide economy that is still on shaky ground.

I also wonder what happened to biogcc2, who had the bag she bought and paid for re-sold to another customer. It's beyond me that Hermes didn't catch it first or be pro-active or reassuring to the client that the situation would be resolved quickly. I have a good friend in high end retail and she said Hermes should have had more accurate inventory control and MUCH BETTER customer service.

After reading your post, LaLa and yours, Etoupebirkin, I feel I made the right decision in never again walking into an H boutique and only buying in the resale market. For your SA to say that to you LaLa reflects their utter contempt of their customer base. Your response was lovely. I received a gift today from a friend, a lovely piece of H jewelry. I'm so sorry it came directly from Hermes. Hard to believe I just wrote that last sentence.

I don't think it matters how much you spend. All that should matter is customer service and loyalty. I realize that customer service these days is a true rarity anywhere and everywhere. There have been so many times when I've practically pleaded for someone to help me spend my money at their establishment! It could be at a coffee shop, drugstore or department store.

It pretty much comes down to how H chooses to do business. Either way H will make its money and profits will continue to soar. I suppose I've been naive and foolish to expect all the other niceties. (At this point I'd feel better if they just pretended to be helpful.)

Lala - Sad to hear your story and I wish that someone from H is reading our thread. I'm so disappointed that after doing being put on a wait list for a Tosca Picotin that I'm told that I can no longer purchase it since it is out of my state. I had spent a lot of time calling around other stores because my local SA said that most stores won't transfer bags and it is better that I call around. That was before the new policy got implemented.

Lala, I totally feel for you, as this is what I have also experienced. I feel totally betrayed and "used and abused" for lack of a better phrase. I've shown nothing but loyalty and this is how I've been thanked. Maybe it's a good thing. I should probably be saving more anyway. Maybe one day a company will come along who truly appreciates their customers and treats them accordingly. I'm sorry, but with the huge prices we pay for Hermes, I expect more than just an orange box. I expect the best customer service for the high prices we're charged. I really do hope Hermes falls on it's face. I'm sorry to have just said that, but they need to be taken off their high horse. Without people buying their products, they are nothing. As long as we continue to tolerate their ridiculous attitudes, they'll continue to put on airs.

I think we will all rise above this and be absolutely fine ;). I won't give H the satisfaction of pining away too much. It never hurts to save more and there are always other venues if one is really interested.

:smile1: You are definitely being more mature about this than I am! You are absolutely right! Thanks for reminding me. :hugs:

Lala, so sorry to hear that. Your garden and beautiful items which you graviously share to all TPF'ers have enable so many of us ( me included ) to try items that otherwise I would never consider getting. :D:D:D Its so sad when items can no longer be as available. I live an hour away fr an H store, but with very very limited inventory, so my only chance at being able to get something decent is emailing my SA in the US, and her taling the time to search for these items which are not in the store. I emailed her yesterday asking what happens to items I was on waitlist for. Apparently, my line is still there, but
will have to wait til I get there in June, pick it up, and hopefully, by miracle, the leather good I've requested will be around when I hit the store.
At this point, Ebay sounds likea good idea. Im still hopeful though, that Hermes will eventually loosen up on their policy re this.
:smile1:
