Thank you. I was on the Hermes website and I was thinking of ordering some items but thought to go to the store instead. It's gloomy today in long island and i thought to drive there but I'd hate to waste the trip to be told I need an appointment. The website said its an appointment only store. I will try. Thank you.

they take walk ins, but they’re a bit strict about having a 1:1 SA to Customer ratio inside the store (unless you’re *exceedingly* regular, in which case they’ll let you in to wait if you have an appointment and your SA isn’t ready), so if the store is full either you wait on line or they take your name (depending on how busy it is).

once you have a regular SA you can set up an appointment in advance.

Just wondering if anyone here may know, how does the Manhasset location work with offering quota bags? I know it’s privately owned and the SAs don’t work independently, you just use whoever is available at the time. Is anyone here able to share how it works to build a profile here? Do the purchases need to be made in a certain amount of time? Do I wait to be offered, or can I be upfront and ask? I’d like to work towards my first quota bag and despite having 3 Hermes bags and my husband having a handful of accessories, I still feel like a newbie. TIA!

its…tricky. People ask me this a lot, and I’d like to help but I don’t even know exactly how they do it anymore; I have known the owner since before she owned the store (she ran the H concession at Barney’s back in the 90s). I bought scarves from there for several years before I considered a bag.

first, you do need to be a regular customer. It’s definitely not impossible to get a bag, but their inventory is different and the store’s regular customers are even more important than a corporate boutique. If you get invited to an event (when they start having them again), at least stop by.

you also should have a regular SA. I don’t know how it affects offers, but it’s very useful to have the same person, who gets to know your taste and shopping habits. We make a joke of the times my husband will sneak in to buy a scarf for me, because no one ever remembers who he is, and….well, we have different taste. Then I find out who sold him the orange scarf that clashes with my hair, or whatever (I keep telling them they need a photo of him behind the counter: “have you seen this man?”).

I think if you’ve been in a few times it’s ok to ask your SA. Better that they know where you’re headed.

The thing is, Manhasset’s clientele is VERY loyal and they buy A LOT of stuff. There are ladies out here who have 50, 100, even more bags, and they shop often. One year my kids had a class nearby every Saturday, so after drop off every week I would pop in; I would see the same people shopping there *every* week! There are people here with collections that rival anything I’ve seen on IG or in the news (and I’m talking exotics). The husbands get into it, too. its definitely not impossible at all, but yeah, they do need to see you there.

by the way, the SAs are all good.
Anyone reading this, please do not ask me for my SAs info. Thanks!:flowers:

I’ve been going to Whole-food nearby every month and tried to shop there many times but it was a Meh experience to me. I always test the water when it comes to Hermes. I asked for basic bag like Picotin 18 and Evelyne. They never wanted to make a try to offer me. Always said None in stock. ( I was telling myself if they would be able to fulfill my simple wish, I would continue the business here.) I stopped by many times asking for the mini bag and there was always NONE . One time I made decision to ask for how to get the Birkin here and ONE SA told me “ We only receive ONE BIRKIN LAST YEAR” That was the braking point that I realized my money is safe here.

P.S. SA recognized me bc I stopped by many times but still nothing for me lol. The testing failed.

Buying online has more chance than Hermes Manhasset per my experience :)

Here is the email you can use to schedule an appointment ( should you want to)
[email protected]
I wanted to bring a jacket in ( purchased in NY) to have the sleeves taken up ( after wearing them rolled, and then deciding I wanted to shorten them).
They answered within a day and gave me all the info I needed.

I got to the store ( on a Saturday) and there were about 3-4 people waiting in a queue. The way it works for that is
1. Stand in the queue ( I asked, 2 persons said about 15-20 min. but I'm sure that varies wildly)
2. When security lets you in, you sign in, hand sanitize, get handed a mask if you don't already have one on, and get a number. You can then wander the store for a bit until the SA is free. He/she goes to the sign in sheet, is told the next number which is up and calls it.
3. You answer and there you go.
Because it was an after sales appointment, it did not take up an SAs time, although an SA was happy to show me anything I would have wanted to see.

Multiple reasons but I'm a MP fan

Manhasset is not a corporate boutique, so the type of stock they order (knowing their usual clients and what is likely to sell) and receive (based on them not being corporate) is completely different. I have seen Picotins and Evelynes on display many MANY times over the years. Actually at least one or the other has been on display more often than not. They would tell you if they have these. If they say they’re out, they probably are. They cannot transfer from another store or order from corporate, their stock is whatever arrives whenever it arrives. Certain pieces are harder for them to get; when I got my mini K, my SA told me that it was the first mini K she had ever seen. Most Bs and Ks are spoken for in advance.

most of the SAs always say that “ Never seen in year” even my SA said that but I fully understand their playbook.

I fully know they are a franchise but like I said I am not a established client there like you are and I tried to be one. I tried to break the ice with handbags but seem failed.

Lucky you gal ! But I found my angel SA now :)

You’re lucky you found a nice sa but be aware that you’re new to H and your experience is going to be different and may change over time.

Thank you for this detailed response! I was actually a ”browse Hermes hobbyist” before the pandemic. For a time I was the creeper who looked at everything but didn’t purchase. Then I started making smaller purchases, ties and a scarf for my husband, for example. Two SAs in particular knew both me and my husband well. Now one has stopped working there, but the other lovely SA is who assisted us last time. They certainly know my face, even with my mask on. Since the pandemic I have not been in nearly as often, though I have been to the store recently and made a bag purchase. In your opinion, would this be a reasonable time to mention a quota bag to that SA? And any suggestions for how to bring it up? I did mention long ago wanting a Birkin really as a passing comment and she said she didn’t think it suited my lifestyle. I however, disagree. :P

So i have recently visited the manhasset store and this is my experience. First to know im a regular client at the madison store, i dont live in the us but when i visit i shop there and always get a bag. I went to the manhasset store and didnt even know it was a franchise, i didnt matter as we were visiting the whole area for the day and not hermes. We meet a SA, and asked about few items ( shoes mostly) all sold out, and then my sister got a calvi wallet. The sa asked if we are looking for something else and i said yes maybe a special bag not k or b, but something limited. She brought many roulis in exotic leather and one with croc and lizard which is soooo hard to get. I didnt get any as i already have an exotic roulis, but we were shocked at how nice and open they are to new customers.

Thank you for your response. I love WS and have never felt like I couldn’t get what I wanted except for this year so am just wondering about everyone else’s experience as I think more stock
is being diverted to MP…

I visited the Wall Street location recently and it was awesome. I didn't purchase anything but it was very nice with a pleasant staff. I met a great SA there and would shop with her if my SA ever leaves.

Does the meatpacking district Hermès ever get any inventory?
We have shopping at Hermès in Chicago for ties but never established a relationship with a SA.
We recently purchased 2 items for around $2k already at the meatpacking district and put in a request for a Birkin.
Should I keep asking my meatpacking SA for updates? Should I make my next purchase at Madison ave? Should I try to go back to Chicago?

I m leaning towards just starting over again at Madison ave.
What kind of small items should I buy to build up a relationship? I don’t really want anything besides the Birkin.
I m not in too much of a hurry to get one since I just splurged to get the van cleef arpel perlee clover bracelet, but I do want to know that I m going to get one eventually in 6-9months.

Do I keep my relationship with my SA by texting my life updates? Is that what they mean by build a relationship besides buying lots of things? Or would that be annoying since all they really want to know is am I going to purchase something?
