The manhasset store is a stand alone store, so it’s up to the SM if they’ll allow it. If it’s not a huge amount like a twilly they’ll allow it cuz I’ve done it before but larger items like bags I’ve seen denied cuz my friend who shops at manhasset tried

Oh, I bought a 140 cashmere shawl and Clic H, are those considered big?

Hi All, I’m looking to purchase a Lindy 26 in Gold in NYC. I have never purchased from Hermes before. I tried to book an appointment with the Manhasset store today, but no one picked up. Does anyone know if they take walk ins or do they typically have Lindy 26 in stock for new customers? Or does anyone have any other location recommendation? Thank you.

I wouldn’t recommend manhasset, I purchased my lindy and a few other small items scarves and ties and such and none of that connects to the overall main Hermès system and the chances of getting a holy trinity bag: birkinC Kelly, or Constance there is so slim, because they don’t order many of those. I’d go with Madison Ave cuz they get the most inventory and I’d recommend Daniel Chen Hes so warm and really knows his stuff.

No history in the Madison store. I have a history in Manhasset, Monaco, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Paris but nothing in the Madison store. I don't know how I got the offer. I've actually sworn off Hermes because I've spent several times the value of a Birkin or Kelly in Monaco during our yearly vacation trips and got nothing. Don't even get me started on all the home goods ie candle holders, cocktail shakers, tea cup sets I've purchased from the Manhasset store over the years and never got offered anything.

Here is the deal with the Manhasset store. Both Manhasset and Madison are my home boutiques (they know I shop at both). I love both boutiques, love my SAs at each, and I have great relationships at both places. Manhasset has fabulous SAs and they try to accommodate as best they can. If you do not have someone that you can contact for an appointment, they absolutely do take walk-ins, but you may have to wait. BUT!!! As a longstanding customer with a regular SA, I may have to wait longer for my appointment than you will as a walk-in! It happens.

Getting anything other than a B or K is pretty easy as far as I know at Manhasset. If they have it they will let you know. They have decent bag inventory in general (and usually a few surprises floating around) and it is a great resource for items that may be hard to find elsewhere (for example, there are always Rodeos - bag charms aren't so popular here. Another example is that there is also always a great selection of SLGs). It is not impossible but nearly so to get a B or K if you are not a regular customer. You will not be offered one (but you can always ask!). Most of that inventory goes to the regular customers. However, if you're local and regular, it can absolutely happen.

I always thought I was coming in too much until the season when both my kids were taking a class nearby every Saturday afternoon. I always went to H first to kill time while I waited. And I saw the SAME people shopping there EVERY week. These are the real regulars and there are enough of them. It's hard for a visitor to compete with that. But if you go fairly regularly and build a relationship, that's how it works there. I was actually a customer there for about 7 or 8 years before I bought my first bag there (I wasn't interested initially, I've always been into the scarves, though).

Yes. The regular boutiques will take returns from other stores because at corporate boutiques it's not their inventory. As Manhasset is privately owned, the owner is on the line for all her inventory. They do they best to accommodate when they can, but they can't always do so. Depends on the item.

Have you tried reaching out to your SA directly? I saw my SA over the weekend without a problem, I reached out to him on Wednesday for an appoint that Saturday via email and he asked me what time I'd like to come in (so it sounds like there are more than one timeslot available). Anyway I ended up going in at 11am. The store did seem a bit busy when I first got there, they also kept the door locked and so the doorman would have to let people in. After my appointment, while waiting for a cab outside, I overheard this couple trying to do a walk-in for bags, the doorman went in to "check" and came back after a minute saying that the handbag inventory is low so they're doing appointments only.

For reference, I checked out the meatpacking store about a month ago to exchange a scarf for a different CW and tried walking in. The doorman there said it was appointment only but also went in to "check" and eventually came back and told me they can see me in about 45 min. I went to have lunch across the street and got a call from the store to schedule my impromptu appointment. In the end I was seen by someone about 1 hour after the initial walk-in.

I'm not sure if this information helps at all but I hope you manage to get an appointment soon!

I sent you a private message,
I hope that’s ok! ☺️

Got a text from my SA in the Madison store - they're now splitting the SAs into three teams (vs the two teams before) due to the increase of infection rate, so a lot of them will only be working two days a week. Sounds like it may be tougher to get an appointment than before

Yeah I got the same text last night. Hope everyone stays safe.

Adding to this: they're also not allowed to take their phones home with them unlike during early lockdowns from 2020, so if they are unresponsive for a few days, please be patient!
Thanks for sharing! I’m actually waiting for my Madison SA’s response.
ETA: as they've been split into teams and are in the stores half the week and WFH other days, they are bringing their phones back home again!
