Hi, I'm a new H scarf addict, and have been wondering which store might be best for someone who tends to get overwhelmed. Years ago I visited an H store someplace (could have been NYC or some other big city, though I'm guessing it was the Madison Ave one) , and I had to leave because it was all too much! I'm only interested in scarves, and I'd love opinions for where to go. TIA!

WS is a much more low key store and the SAs are very friendly and approachable.

i think bergdorf goodman still has a scarf counter.

Was anyone able to score a B with Aleksey as their SA? I know I may be overthinking this, but I really really do NOT want to play "the game" with a SA with a slim chance of being offered one. I'm worried because I just calculated how much it would be to get everything on this year's wishlist, and it summed up to around $15K(not including the B). I want to buy mainly scarves and leather items, and some china, but have almost zero interest in the RTW. I'm more than willing to spend the money for the items that I love, but I don't want the process to be like pulling teeth. If I want to buy a B, I want the SA to be able to help me, rather than leading me on. I guess I'm just paranoid because one of my previous SAs in California was like that, leading me on. Should I just let him know that I do expect to be able to buy a B from him later on? TIA for your help!

I have a relationship with Aleksey as my Wall St SA but I haven't scored a B/K with him yet. Granted I've only purchased from him once or twice (around 4-5k) and have told him I'm after a specific color B at the time, but he pretty much had told me that there's a lot of VIPs in that store and it's going to take me a long time to get one. He's held a bag for me for a few days since I live out east and driving in would take 4-5hrs with traffic. I started with him when he was new though so maybe seniority has a play with it too?!? I'm not sure. It's a pain to go into WS for me so I later went to Madison and found my H angel; but she retired, so now I'm looking to build a relationship again. I'm not planning to continue my relationship with Aleksey though due to an overall feeling of being lead on and that I'll never fulfill the quota because "there's lots of VIPS" who shop regularly at the store. And of course the other reason is stock is better at Madison generally speaking. If I were to try again at WS, I'd try my luck with someone else. :) Just my two cents.

Both Bergdorf and Wall St have smaller scarf counters so u wont get overwhelmed.
You might want to also go with a friend for more guidance.

I too am looking for a SA in ny/nj/ct area. I get the same vibe of "there's lots of VIPS" from the Manhasset store after shopping there for a month. I saw you visited the Manhasset store yesterday; how did you feel about the store?

Thank you for letting me know! I'm glad I didn't waste much time or money with him.. He was very nice to me, but not so nice on the phone afterwards. I understand that there are VIPs, but there's a thread on the forum where a tPFer got to order a SO Birkin after buying a Bearn wallet. No games, and it was from the WS store. I don't like it when stores do that. South Cost Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA used to be my home boutique and I didn't have to spend an outrageous amount to be offered a Kelly. And my SA was just starting out, so no seniority there. But I've also had less than fantastic experiences with another SA at the same boutique, so I guess it all comes down to each SAs. Sigh, shopping should not be this difficult..

That is true, the Manhasset store is very tough and known for games. I had a horrible experience with one infamous Asian SA who bluntly said to spend X amt to be put on a waitlist for b/k. Just a "waitlist" mind u.. I bought what I was after and didn't continue with her(although tough to avoid her since it's such a small boutique). I've tried several other SAs in the store, and have not been offered B/Ks, but I've also not bothered to ask either. I wish there is a clear formula to get what we want but there just isn't. It's all about luck. Good luck with your SA search dear..

NP dear. Yes I know which post you're referring to, and I completely agree that there's no rhyme or reason to it. It's not fair, but they make up their rules and it can change in a NY minute.
Good luck with your search too~ :hugs:

this is quite annoying to me, at least be consistent with the rules, especially from the same store!

Hey L, I completely agree with the agree the arbitrary rules of H are terrible. I did a lot of research on this board and armed with knowledge of the game, I approached my first SA. Turns out it was Aleksey and while he may be a nice person, our personalities did not click. So the next time I went to Wall St., I purposely spoke to another SA to try and establish a good relationship. Luckily I found Regina and everything worked out. I much prefer working with someone I am comfortable with. This is not to put down Aleksey's customer service in any way, but I thought sharing my experience might help others in finding success. :smile1:
