I’m so turned off to the madison store. I’ve worked with an SA there a couple of years ago and she was great. But I’ve been trying to make an appointment for two days. No one calls me back. I’m disappointed. I think I’ll call the meat packing store. They seem friendlier. But now I’m kinda turned off to the whole thing. Why should I beg someone to take my money????
Best to make an appointment through your SA. I don’t think they have the full staff working yet.

Glad you're trying MP- they really are terrific. I've found them much more responsive and pleasant than Madison, and if they don't have it, they will get it for you. But honestly, the inventory has been pretty good recently so who knows?
Totally easy to get to actually, either driving or subway. Have a great time!

Thank you! I am so happy to hear such good things about them!

I have been going to Madison about every two weeks (including today) for the last two months. Honestly I dont mind the current setup, but it only works if you already have an SA you like, and I happen to love my SA.

I make the appointment at least a week in advance and my SA knows what I’m interested in. I arrive on time and I dont have to wait, and I don’t feel rushed, either. It’s definitely more formal, but I feel like I have my SAs attention and we even have time to talk.

From what I understand the boutique is doing very well, as the people who are coming in are not generally walk-ins who browse, but customers who know what they are interested in. Its busy but not crazy.

I’ve tried to contact my SA at madison—just no response. Anyway—does anyone know where I can park for meat packing? I would prefer a garage—any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you all for your help!

Seems about the same at the Wall St. location, but I have been going less frequently, like once a month. Since my time is very limited (demanding job), I never drop in during normal times, I always make an appointment, so it feels similar. The wall street store is not usually very busy anyway.

Agree with both of you that the current set up is ok, just more constricting for both the SA and the customer ( and nothing to do about it!!). I love having the time with my SA with no interruptions ( although of course there are), but I miss the ability to just rifle through the scarves ( or anything) and see what catches my eye. Now its up to me to be more focused ( not bad) and the SA to intuit what you MIGHT be interested in, and have it there at your station. Puts pressure on them I think.
And totally no ones fault, because there are no late hours now, so its weekends for me! No hopping over after work for a fast look.

Addendum- I realize I really never just "randomly dropped in" I always would have texted/spoken with my SA before. I may have to have waited if she was busy, but she and I both knew I was coming. So its really just the browsing I miss. C'est la vie!
(although I DID get very sidetracked last time.....so guess there WAS browsing to be done!)

I think I’ve been at Madison 4 times since lockdown was lifted. All 4 times I made an appointment with my SA. One of those times coincided with the brief period when they reopened to walk ins and that was the one time that the store was very crowded on the main floor and the leather department. The other times I’ve been able to browse in the leather department and RTW while still maintaining social
distancing. Scarf counter was not busy other than during the walk in allowed visit. I avoided more temptation and stayed away from the shoe department so can’t say if it was crowded or not. Before covid I would make an appointment with my SA if there were specific things I was interested in. Other times I would just drop in for a quick eye candy fix, browse the displays without asking to see anything and leave. If I saw my SA and others I know, I’d say hello but otherwise just wander around while staying out of the way. I miss being able to browse that way, enjoying the breadth of Hermes offerings without having to plan ahead.

Thanks everyone for these responses- I'm going to make an appointment to visit the Meatpacking store as I forgot it was even there and I can take a quick peek into my work office downtown. These may be dumb questions so forgive me but
1. Can I make an appointment to just browse? I have a few bags/accessories I am interested in if available
2. Can I make an appointment if I don't have a current relationship with an SA?
3. Am I even allowed to say no?
Thanks!

1. When we went, we were asked to sit at a table and not allowed to walk around the store. This was about a month ago and do not know whether it has changed.
2. We made an appointment and since it was our first time at that store, they asked which department and they assigned us an SA from the leathers section.
3. You can always say no.

there’s a garage a Few blocks away - I think the entrance is on Jane, take Washington south and make a right.
