I was at Madison yesterday and they are back to primarily by appointment only. I think they do allow walk ins only if the store is not crowded so best to make an appointment. Front door is locked. They have someone at the door who unlocks the door so you can say what you are there for. I had an appointment so he let me in to go to a station right as you enter the store manned by someone with a laptop. I told him who I had the appointment with, he called her and she came and got me. The visit I made last month, they had relaxed the rules to let anyone walk in without an appointment. The front door was unlocked so everyone could enter no matter how crowded the store was. There was zero crowd control and the store was very crowded in the leather department which frankly made me very uncomfortable. I had an appointment but I did not stay long. This time there were a lot less people so everyone could maintain social distancing which I felt made for a safer and more comfortable shopping experience.

We went to the meatpacking boutique yesterday and I’m torn on how the experience went. Firstly, they couldn’t find our reservation so we had to wait outside for around 15 minutes, but that wasn’t a big deal. First impression, it’s a nice store, but you’re not allowed to look around. Upon entry, we were seated at the back of the store and provided some beverages. SA was energetic and very nice. She asked why we were there and our response was “to mainly see the new boutique” but we couldn’t walk around because of social distancing. This seems to be specific to meatpacking as we’ve been to a few boutiques since COVID and had no such restrictions before. SA asked the wife what she was interested in and about the only thing that popped into her head was a retourne Kelly. We got the normal “well, we reserve those sort of dream bags for our normal local clientele” which was fine and we understand the game. But then once she looked up our history, she proceeded to build the entire wife’s wishlist. Bags, colors, leathers, hardware, etc.

Just a weird experience

Just asking-Are you able to walk around unaccompanied at Madison or Wall Street? Or is it that you have been able to walk around elsewhere outside the city?
I’m sure the SAs don’t love it either- it makes their experience/ work much less enjoyable as well. It puts a lot more pressure on them to “ ferry” things to the station the client is at , or try to guess what they might like before hand. It’s a delicate balance to be sure.

You are assigned an SA via appointment or at the door at other boutiques as well, but you’re free to look around the boutique while they’re in the stock room, finishing up with another customer, etc. At meatpacking, I was going to go point to a wallet that was in a color my wife would love, and the SA stopped me and told me she had to go get it.

That’s how Vegas is too. Makes it difficult to be randomly inspired but I’m sure it will go back to normal soon enough.

That's definitely weird. I was just at meatpacking a week ago and they were totally fine with me wandering around while I was waiting for my SA. I was just mindful to keep away from anybody else.

I hope this first experience will not prevent you and your wife from visiting the Meatpacking location again. Since its opening, this has become my home store after my rather solid and entertaining year at Madison.

Since the reopening, I’ve visited at least four occasions with the most recent being this past Saturday. I can tell you, the experience varied. Meatpacking was a little more relaxed in August, but then capacity became an issue when the doors were unlocked allowing for walk-ins. The SAs became highly stressed and felt unsafe. So they’ve gone back to the more conservative approach to ensure that the staff felt secured. I’m okay with that...and I still approach each visit as I’d done pre-COVID: fully prepared with a focused list of must haves and no other distractions!

Reiterating what @sf_newyorker said! I was at Meatpacking this past Saturday as well (maybe we saw each other?!) and despite shopping regularly at Meatpacking all summer since reopening post-mandated lockdown March onward, my SA let me know that they have reverted back to strictly appointment only to reduce the flow of traffic and ensure the safety of the staff. In July, when walk-in traffic began to be accepted once again, my shopping visits was a little chaotic and you could see that the employees were stressed, frazzled, and scrambling.

I, myself, spent most of my appointment cooped up in the dressing room having fun with new season RTW, so didn't bother walking around much at all to mitigate temptation  my SA knows my style too well though so didn't work, lol, but Meatpacking really is great so I hope you @cravin consider coming back. Extra precautions were also being taken due to the event taking place all weekend!

Maybe we walked past each other? I had an 11am appointment and spent equal time on the main level and upstairs. I did notice two other clients with a bleu nuit k28 and bambou b25.
