Hi everyone - I haven't had great experiences with the Madison SAs and I'm having no luck on getting responses from the latest one that I just saw two weeks ago. Thinking about going to Meatpacking - is the inventory there really very lacking, i.e., I should try to stick it out with Madison? Thanks!

I had a great experience at meatpacking! I am not sure what their inventory was though. Maybe some other members here can answer your question better than me. If it helps at all--the SAs there were so friendly and I felt completely comfortable.

I have not had an issue with a lack of inventory ( although possibly last winter after the holidays WRT bags- again was not an issue for me personally). That said, inventory is a relative thing- i.e., there may be hundreds of scarves, but not the ONE you are looking for. If you go and they do not have what you are looking for, if you are specific, hopefully it can be found and sent in. Seems like you lose nothing by going.

I’m sorry if others have already asked and answered this, but in the NYC stores do leather goods generally count toward your quota pre-spend? I don’t plan to buy or not buy something based on the quota system, but I might be more or less careful about where I buy it from. Thanks all!

Everything counts to varying degrees.

Hi ladies (and gents), I need your help! I'm looking to start my Hermes addiction. I recently purchased my first house so I would love to get some home items, like a blanket and pillows. I also have a belt and sandals in a bunch of colors on my wishlist. Of course, I'd also love to get a B35 :). I know my best chance of scoring the B is to work with one SA and build my profile. Once I have a SA I'm uber loyal anyway, so this is absolutely not a problem.

I live on Long Island, so Manhasset would be the most convenient option. I've been in to browse several times but haven't had the best experiences thus far (haven't purchased yet). Nothing bad or anything happened where I'd say I don't want to shop there; I've just basically been ignored for the most part (not even Hello's).

Now that I have my house, I really want to start purchasing so I can start to make it feel like home. I've been pouring over the threads on the Manhasset store and it seems like either they get less B's in, or they just save them for clients who spend a lloooootttt. I definitely plan on buying the above-mentioned items, and probably other things I see when I'm there, but I don't have unlimited funds. So I don't want to build a relationship with a SA in Manhasset if it won't lead me to getting offered a B when I could have spent that time and money working with a store where I have a better chance.

I saw a bunch of people post that they were offered B's as walk-ins when the NYC stores reopened, but I'm totally petrified of taking public transit into the city with everything going on. I'd be open to building a relationship with a SA over the phone/txt and then beg DH to drive me into the city when I'm offered a bag. Is that a thing? I know there's also a store in CT that we could drive to, but again only if we can start the relationship remotely. (Just to be clear, when I say relationship I mean buying my wishlist items, not just getting to know them :) ).

Also, if anyone has any SA recommendations in any of the stores please let me know!

Hi there. I was in a similar situation as you a little before, so I'll try to share my experience. The 35 size birkin is less popular recently, so I don't think you'll have any problems scoring it. I'd recommend going to the Madison location - they have the greatest range of stock by far and it's not so hard to get an offer for a less popular bag. I got a K32 in black togo and gold hardware (desirable color, but a little less in-demand size) just as a walk-in with no purchase history. Just don't walk in asking for the birkin from the start. Buy a couple of other items, and your SA will probably ask you if you're looking for a bag.

I now have an SA at Meatpacking just because I started shopping there first, but I have been shopping via the phone since quarantine started and got an offer for a B25 this way. In most cases you will need to be physically present to buy a birkin or kelly, but my SA called me over the phone with the exact specs of the bag and I was able to just drive in and pick it up. The other things I bought (rodeo charms, sweaters, jewelry) were able to be shipped to my home.
I really do think it's best to go to the shop in-person to meet an SA for the first time, because it's much easier to have a conversation about bags you are looking for. A lot of Hermes boutiques aren't very good at picking up the main store phone anyway lol. After making an initial purchase, your SA can give you their contact info (email or work cell) and you can shop with them that way.

Almost all the SAs I've met at Madison and Meatpacking recently have been really helpful. In general, people here are hesitant to give referrals to their SAs, so I encourage you to just go visit. Good luck! :)

Thanks so much for your input! It was kind of what I was fearing hearing. Before covid I would have jumped right on the subway after work, but now I just can't imagine getting on. I definitely agree that going in person is a better way of developing a relationship with someone though. But for now (while my germaphobe brain is in overdrive). I'm going to take your advice and try calling. Thanks again!

I have bought a B/K and C from Manhasset in years past (although this is not my home store). If you are willing to spend lots of $ in other departments (non-leather goods), your chances of getting a bag are higher although if you have very specific specs in mind especially in smaller sizes (for ex B25 and K25s/K28s...it will be difficult as it is with any store). manhasset is even busier than usual in COVID-times, I recommend making an appt and going during the weekday to start building a profile. definitely communicate to your SA that you are interested in getting a B35...I do think your spend ratio will be lower as bigger bags are a bit easier to get. also, manhasset SAs do not work on commission so you don't have to buy with the same SA every time you shop...hope this helps.
