All of my purchase history was previously in Europe (can't beat the prices esp. after tax refund,) but given the uncertainty of foreign travel with the virus + the fact that I live in New York, I decided to shop at Meatpacking and check it out for the first time. Please note that this is my first time ever shopping in an NY location and any prior US purchase history has been in Boston, SF, LA, and other random stores. Nothing significant, usually an accessory here and there in the last decade or so that I've lived in the US.
In a nutshell: actually had an amazing experience overall. Beautiful store. Great selection of merchandise, lots of inventory and new items across every category. Friendly staff. Interesting mix of locals and tourists, I'd say it was a much younger crowd, generally speaking.
Was pretty busy at first and there were no free associates to attend to me but after perusing for a little while, someone came to assist. I was looking for a bag strap for the purse I was wearing but ironically the hooks were too small to fit my bag so that option was quickly eliminated. The SA joked, "you can always buy one of our bags so you can get the strap you like." I laughed and responded, "well, if you're offering, I'm listening."
Anyway, I was mostly interested in RTW but no sizes were available in the pieces I liked. Ended up getting a Herbag 31 H Vibration, Bearn mini wallet, a scarf and a pair of sneakers. After deciding on the Herbag, she quickly got my info and put it into her phone and saw that I had no prior purchase history in NY. We spoke a little about that and why. Then, while waiting for the sneakers to be brought up in the correct size, I noticed the lovely SA attending to me was taking a little longer than usual. She ended up coming back with an Etain PHW 24/24 29. Beautiful bag, was surprised it was available, and was so pleased at her willingness to offer it to me, but passed. I've really been on the hunt for B/K RGHW and haven't had an luck encountering it, so I told her that. She told me they had B30 available and could show me if I was interested, but said no as I'm just on the market for B25 right now. In the end, she gave me her card and told me to shoot her an email with my complete wish list, and asked me a few questions about my leather, color and size preferences, whether I was open to exotics, and what my #1 and #2 bag wishes are right now. I told her I've been on the hunt for a B25 in Vert Cypress with RGHW for some time and she said that green is "doable" and never as in demand as blacks / neutrals, and that she only has one other client who favors green as well so she'd try her best to get me something.
Really sweet SA, great experience. Just wanted to share!
