I was there yesterday afternoon!

I have to say I am greatly spoiled by my amazing SA at Madison. I love baking and often share cookies and French macarons with her when I visit the store. In January I went in and several SA’s whom I had never spoken to but recognized them by appearance came up to me, addressed me by my name and thanked me for the macarons. Sure enough my SA shared some of her goodies with her close colleagues so now I’m regarded as the cookie and macaron customer LOL. Long story short, if you treat your SA respectfully and engage them warmly they will take care of you. I also often visit the store before the gym wearing a puffer, sweatshirt and leggings, no problem being ushered into the private room like that (however I always carry a B or K or C when I go even with my workout gear lol).

And there is sort of what I have issue with. The fact that the SAs never engaged you warmly in the first place is an issue. Whenever I walk into the Greenwich boutique, I am greeted by name now that I'm an established customer, but most everyone that I see walk in is treated with a warm smile and a quiet "please let me know if you need any assistance". At Madison, it's almost like they're doing you a favor.

Whenever my SA gets me whatever the wife wants, I thank her. She turns to me and says "I am the one that should be thanking you for buying Hermes" .

I get that Madison Ave. receives more tourists who are hunting for the grail bags, but at the end of the day, it's still customer service that should be first and foremost. I never asked to buy a B30. I just wanted to see the sample. Being able to listen to what a customer needs assistance with should still take priority.

I should coordinate with you for my next store visit! I just made pistachio ganache this evening and will complete another batch of macarons this weekend!

Small treats are totally acceptable when your SA hustles for you such as negotiating a reserved bag from another SA to be released to you. Sincere chats are also very much appreciated, it's always nice to be a customer that your SA looks forward to seeing. Shared interests such as pets, food and travel don't hurt either! After showing my SA a few videos of my kitty going nuts for the H buldoc ribbons my SA has been bagging up a small piece of buldoc ribbon for him every time I purchase something (yes he's boujee AF sigh).

During the week of Valentines day I took my kitty to visit the store (pets are always welcome there) and he got to visit the private room and received tons of pets from SAs LOL. This goes to show relationships with SA's (from any brands) don't need to be so serious and transactional. A warm human touch and treating them like how you want to be treated make them appreciate you so much and in turn you naturally become their priority customer.

Thank you for this insight. Yesterday evening I was more the observer (only picked up an MT) and browsed at my leisure. I saw client-SA interactions range from polite/patient to brusque commands. Having worked in retail during my college days, I’m on the side of a kinder and empathetic approach as the client.

I’d wondered about the pet policy- I recall someone walking in with his bulldog a month ago. Seemed like such an ordinary thing to do!

That’s very interesting! I don’t have any pets but plan on getting s cute little pug soon. Hope he is as bougie as your cat! Hahah

Also pistachio ganache!! Omg pistachio is my favorite flavor when it comes to literally anything lol!

My SA and I actually grew up in the same neighborhood and she knows my mother so we definitely have some common interests.

I grew up in retail my entire life and I completely agree that most interactions are also based on the customer just as much as the employee.

Hi all, my recent experience at the Madison Ave boutique has not been very good. Therefore I am wondering if any of you has any suggestions on which other boutiques I should go to?

I have not been to the new Meatpacking store yet. I was at the wall street boutique a few years ago but didn't seem like they had a good selection of products there. Any other good stores that's about 1/2 hours drive from Manhattan?

Looking forward to what you guys have to say!

Hey there! I saw your Kelly reveal! Congrats on the beauty! But I am very sorry to hear about your experience. To be completely honest, the best in NYC really is Madison Ave in terms of stock. I think you might be better off switching SAs. I did the same at Madison as my old SA was kind of a dud LOL. I have not been to Meatpacking store yet but assuming since it's new, you might be luckier with stock and building a good relationship with an SA.

“The company has signed a lease and will open the new location in 2022, Women’s Wear Daily reported. The five-story space spans roughly 40,000 square feet and includes two outdoor terraces.

The site is connected to a restored bank building from the 1920s, approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

The news comes as Madison Avenue retail has struggled — with vacancies rising following the financial crisis. The corridor saw its seventh straight year-over-year drop in asking rent to $1,160 a square foot, a 7 percent decline, according to the Real Estate Board of New York’s fall retail survey.

“We’re thrilled about Hermès’ long-term commitment and what it means to the avenue,” said Rick Friedland, a principal at Friedland Properties. ”Balenciaga and Celine just made commitments to Madison Avenue. We’re hopeful that this signifies some resurgence on the avenue.”

The brand has reportedly has been looking for a space that would allow it to remain on Madison Avenue and brings its men’s and women’s products under one roof. The company, which is said to have outgrown its current locations, will remain at its current Madison Avelocation until the new flagship opens.

The new location is being designed by RDAI — the Paris-based architecture firm founded by Réna Dumas, the late wife of Jean-Louis Dumas, who was CEO of Hermès until 2006 and died in 2010.

Last year, fashion designer Celine signed a deal for 5,000 square feet at Vornado Realty Trust and Crown Acquisitions’ 650 Madison Avenue, paying an estimated $7.8 million in an annual rent. The deal also includes 800 square feet of additional storage space. And Balenciaga signed a lease at Boston Properties’ 620 Madison Avenue, paying an estimated $5 million in annual rent. I’ve been told the women’s bags and other leather goods will be on a higher floor with windows in the new store. That’ll save my SA and I from hiking up to the watch department to view bags in natural light :P

I'm so glad the men's store will be under the same roof again. I like to shop there, but most of the time I'm no longer in the mood after I'm done with the East side of the street.
Yup. I like some of the men’s scarves but i’m Shopped out by the time I leave the women’s store and usually don’t make it across the street either.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a little advice as I try to start the relationship building process to buy my first B/K/C here in NYC.
I’ve visited the FSH store twice and tried my luck as a walk-in at 15+ different boutiques in Japan, France, Spain, and Italy, and never had any luck in scoring a quota bag.:crybaby: So I’ve decided to try buying things slowly in my hometown boutiques.

I thought targeting the Meatpacking boutique would be a good strategy, as it’s new and likely doesn’t have as much as a developed clientele as the other 2 locations. I met a SA and we get along well at the store (spent about $1000 so far) but he takes days to respond to my text inquiries about products and I don’t feel he would offer me a desirable bag if I asked. For instance, I asked about the mini Lindy (which some posters here already saw in store) and he told me it would come in late fall.:blah: Not sure if that boutique really isn’t getting them until later or if they will just offer them to others way earlier. And this is just for a lindy, not a Birkin or Kelly!

My questions for those more experienced with the NY boutiques: which boutique do you think I should target for my purchases and which will be most likely to offer me bags? And how much could I reasonably expect to spend before getting an offer for 25/28 kelly, 25/30 Birkin or Constance? I’m strongly considering buying a single big-ticket item like a coat or gold jewelry if it could “guarantee” me a quota bag, but I’m scared of blowing the money, not getting an offer, and then still needing for fork over extra bucks for a bag from a reseller. :-s

just a quick FYI confirmed by my SA and the leather goods director, the mini Lindy is not due to land in stores until November. Photos you saw were from the FW19 Press Days that took place in June in different countries in the world.

Ahh got it - thanks for the info!
I thought a member here mentioned seeing it at the Madison Ave location but I guess I remembered it wrong.

I have always had great experience at the Madison store - it mainly due to how great my SA is. We connected really quickly and as soon as we established a relationship/connection, my SA pulled me into a private room and showed me K and B. At that point, I hadn't even bought anything big (total spending was less than a 1000) at the store! My experience was so great that now I am totally an H-holic lol. Already set my eyes on a table and plan to buy it from my SA in the near future.

That’s awesome! Do you mind sharing your SA’s info with me?

Hi everyone! I’m visiting NYC for a couple days, wondering which store if any would be ok to just casually look and browse in. I’ve got my home store and happy with my SA (in the US), but can’t help wanting to wander into H boutiques when I travel if just to see what the store is like! Probably won’t be purchasing anything big but I can never resist the right twilly/scarf/rodeo etc. Any advice appreciated. TIA :flowers:
