I know this all quite really depends and it sounds from this thread and a few others I've browsed through that your experience at Madison really depends on luck, but wanted to get some thoughts here.

I am new to H, and would love to start building a relationship with an SA in the hopes of eventually getting a chance at a neutral B or K - I know general advice is that if there is a very specific combo I am looking for, I should just go the reseller route. I do think there are quite a few things I'd like to get from H that aren't the B or K, but probably not more than 20K worth of things (and certainly not in the span of a year!). Is Madison one of the stores where the client list is just so deep that unless I spend more than that amount, I'll never get the chance for a b or k? I could see myself buying other goodies after getting a b or k as I continue collecting in earnest, but if Madison tends to have a high bar for "pre-spend", then I might just go reseller route first.

Other things that might be helpful to know - I do live in the city but work long hours, so I could never go to the store on a weekday. I'd only be able to go on weekends when its busier and SAs have less time to chat.

TIA!!

It is harder to get netural colors, especially in smaller sizes. I spent half price of the bag on non-Birkin items to get my black B in size 35. Depending on the SA, mine didn't call me (their client list must be so long and hard to call each client or remember each person's wishlist). My experience shows that showing up consistently (once every month or so) to get some thing or just stop by to say hi will give you higher chance to get offered one right there. Waiting for SA to call never worked for me. They usually get shipments between Tue-Fri so you have better chances during the week than the weekend.

Good luck!

I went to NY in October for my honeymoon, it was our last destination so my husband was nice enough to take me to the Madison store ever single day.

I wanted a Kelly cut or pochette, so i asked the SA's they said it was for regular customer, and they will only offer one if they have extra pieces.

My husband got an Oran slipper for his mum, and the SA told me to come tomorrow as they will receive a shipment.

Went the next day no luck, went for the 4th time and the last day in our trip and they offered me a Constance, I didn't like the color at all so I rejected the offer and said I want to look at shoes, I choose an Oran slipper this time for myself. The the SA said they have a Kelly cut if I was interested but they need the manager approval to show me this item.

I said yes even before knowing what color it was as its very hard to fine one back home. I think visiting the store more than once and buying at least one or two items always help.

There is a small boutique inside Brookfield Place on225 Liberty street shopping plaza. This is the Hermes Perfumery boutique and just open early this year.. for anyone interested to smell n discuss Hermes perfume please go there and sample. It smells heavenly in there. Also I highly recommend this elegant French "perfumery ambassador" Michelle!! She has worked for Hermes for 35 years. She recently retired but she is so passionate about the brand!! I think she came out of retirement to provide assistance at the perfumery! you can discuss anything with her! This afternoon I had a good 20-30 minutes conversation with her n she shared her passion for Hermes products n especially scarves with me! I plan to return back soon [emoji4][emoji106]

Do they only sell fragrances there?

Does anyone know if it's possible to have your SA order something from online into the boutique so it counts towards your purchase history in the boutique? I've seen some people say their SAs will do it, others who say their SAs won't because the site is supposedly independent of the boutiques...curious if anyone had luck doing this, specifically at Madison.

I specifically asked my SA at Madison about this and she said the site was independent of the stores and she couldn't order online for us.

You can always write down the ref num and let your SA do a nation wide search
My SA actually told me that if I ever saw anything online to just call her with the ref num and she could and would order it and she always has; it was also my understanding from her that harder to find items (crocs, gators, etc) were sent in on order from the flagships like Madison, BH, etc.

I just saw my SA from Madison today, she said she can generally do it for silks or shoes but not leather goods. I guess that makes sense though, otherwise a lot of the grail items on the site would be snapped up much quicker!

Yes, I've received shoes, belts, bracelets, a watch (all were gator or croc) and housewares that were online, in the store...

My SA did this for me quite recently.
