Indeed. If you think they are pretty, you should also check out the rooftop. ❤️

I did see beautiful greenery on the top floor and a balcony/patio!! It was raining so I couldn't actually enjoy it :(

I love to run my hand along the edges of the hand rail/groove... it's so smooth and silky

I was tempted but thought I'd get reprimanded for doing that LOL

I'm itching to go back to admire the store!

I’m pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but I just have to say—the stairs at the Madison store are so beautiful. I have no idea why I love them so much, but I do.
I always see someone cleaning them and around. I guess it must be hard to keep clean as they are white!
One day, as I was waiting to pay, I saw several people trying to remove a kid drawings on the wall next to the register upstairs! 😱🙈

Seriously, don’t be self conscious. My SA adores the stairs too. The way they loop and swirl is stunning. It’s one of the incredible pleasures of going to the Madison maison.

Some info (it took a year to build) Portuguese limestone
I vaguely recall someone telling me cost of 7 million USD, but I could be thinking of something else and entirely mistaken
All the tension in the balustrades. Fascinating!

My one and only visit to Madison was this February, and sadly, the rooftop was closed for weather. The stairs are very striking, and a bit intimidating to me with my two total knee replacements. No real way to get a good grip on the not-exactly-a-railing. I took the steps very carefully up, and happily took the elevator down.

Yeah, even though there's the elevator at the rear of the store, I find it very therapeutic to to always take the stairs down (and up)...as they are very captivating.

As a structural engineer that has had to do complex floating stair models (some with tension cables), the words post tension and "tension on balusters" really made me wince. Structural stone is so cool and they really did create an architectural and engineering marvel!

Although I would dare to say that the structural glass blocks from the amsterdam store is also up there with this staircase!! I remember not even going into the ams store, I just stood outside ogling at the bricks, hehe.

It truly, truly is a beauty!! I don’t even want to imagine how much it cost but I'd love to have the same limestone in my home too. Honestly, I got more of a thrill from looking at the stairs, and the scarves and the artwork on the wall than the display bags. I was way too self-conscious to take photos, though I felt like I'd look like a total creep just hanging around the stairs.
Omg. The artwork! It kills me every time. I wish I could figure out where they sourced it.
