I got both a Kelly and a Birkin as a tourist walk in at the Madison Avenue store on 2 separate occasions. The Kelly was simply on display (along with a few others) that day. The Birkin was harder. The first time I went in an SA was rude to me and stated "NO". I had lunch at Bergdorf then went back 2 hours later. I met another SA and inquired about Birkins. She said "what color are you looking for?" I was speechless at first then managed to get out "a neutral one?". She left and came back with my 30B Black PHW! She said that they also had others in the back but that I could only get one!

Wow! You were very lucky, for most of December, Madison had no inventory at all.

I wish I had your luck!

Go to Wall St and ask for Linda. She's a complete sweetheart. She helped me reserve my Rose Jaipur Lindy overnight because I wasn't able to make it to Hermes on the day of the delivery.

Alexsey is also a sweetheart, but I love Linda more. She's also more senior and experienced.

Kinda old thread... but I'll travel to New York soon and was wondering if there is any chance of finding a Birkin as a walk in or if the SAs only want to sell to established clients there.

Are there any days or times where you have a better chance at scoring one?

You never know, but from what I've seen, most of the Bs are held for clients. It's always worth asking though.

it's pretty unlikely but you can try. took me over a year of sticking with the same SA for various purchases to get offered a B from wall st (and not one i wanted, just an extra that wasn't already sold to a better customer).

Does anyone know if the wall st store is still operational? Seems like their phone has been off for awhile...I wonder if they were affected by the storm

No, its closed for now. Their phones and internet are down. My SA was kind enough to call me from her cell phone to make sure my family is okay. Very sweet of her :D
