Thank you for your reply! Yes, when I was at the store I asked for a gray/black Avalon and he told me they are hard to come by. I agree I’m definitely not on his priority list, but I’m having a hard time sensing what is feasible with him. I mean do I have to spend 8k to be offered a Kelly to go bc that seems outrageous to me. He’s most certainly pushing me towards ready to wear which I’m fine with but I think bc he’s new he’s become spoiled very quickly.

According to most of the posts on this thread, as well as my own experience, sounds like he is simply being honest. If it makes you feel better, I haven’t seen a gray black Avalon* there in quite some time, and I spend quite a bit of time on the home goods floor. I also had to wait months for basic home goods like dishes and glassware, and that‘s simply how it goes. You might have better luck on H.com.

Unfortunately Madison has many high spending clients who are fine with spending 8K plus a visit to get popular or kelly related items. It doesnt matter if he is new or not, significantly higher spend is normal, not outrageous or even unusual. This is why I strongly recommend resale for clients who do not want to wait or who do not find other offerings in RTW or home appealing. The SM may not allow him to make an offer to a smaller client even if he wanted to do so. I’m not sure that you will have a better experience with another SA, but i wish you the best of luck. :flowers:

*I have seen this combo (gray black Avalon) NIB on plenty of resale sites as it is popular.

ETA: @Becky999 , I have been told by several SAs (NY and FSH) that the regular B is harder to get than the touch bc the latter is significantly more expensive. If your first choice is a touch B, you should inquire with your SA re time frame and feasibility. While I was waiting for my gold regular leather sellier 25B, I received maybe three exotic B offers, including, I believe, a touch. If you are interested in a B30, that should also be much easier and quicker than a 25.

Thanks! Yes agreed I already bought the Kelly to go touch from a reseller. Too many games for me.,I do know that this particular SA did give a friend a Kelly 25 for buying ONE scarf. So who knows how these things work?

It may depend on the time of year/stock level. During covid they were selling quota bags to walk ins. I imagine during the grand opening last year it was also significantly easier to be offered a sought after bag because they had so much stock.

Perhaps ask your friend if her SA can help you out then (And pls do update the thread if you are successful :) Good luck

I really doubt you can get a k25 just by buying a scarf right now. I have spent almost 5:1 since the new store opening and I have only had a gray k25 on my wishlist (lol). I recently gave up and just got a grey Polene bag
Dang 5:1?!!! :confused1:
I recently got back to hermes game after taking a break for ~2 years, and I am already close to spending 20k within a span of 3 months. Should I expect to spend 50k and upwards for a QB? My anxiety is through the roof after reading this comment. My SA is insistent that I should only get 25B or 28K as she believes b30 will be too big for my frame which translates to higher spending required. (She also unsolicitedly mentioned MK, but also hinted I won't be eligible to cop MK). I was one of the lucky ones who was offered her first qb bag after spending <10k. Now the ecosystem has completely changed, and shopping hasn't been as enjoyable to say the least.

If you average out the two, you will be okay. This is how I do prespend math.

I was 5X by the time my gold b25 sellier came into Madison, in the stock drought last summer, but I received three NY offers while I waited that I rejected. So, I knew I was technically eligible well before I reached 5X. Since I accepted two FSH offers last year with very little prespend, before and after the NY offer, my average was fine). This year I received two B25 offers last month (one from FSH and one from Ny) both rejected. In NY I’m probably at least 4X Rising (I don’t really keep specific track, so rough estimate) since the store opening. I did pick up my dream bolide blue rainbow from FSH instead. So, I know my NY SA will offer me some thing at some point, but we cannot really decide what. If you are picky, you kind Of have to wait until something you love comes in.

Fortunately my DH and I both like to shop RTW and home, so the spend is between the two of us. Same profile in both FSH and NY, and we shop both openly without any issues (FSH twice a year in Spring and Fall). I assume by the time my NY SA and I figure out what I want next and by the time fall RTW comes around, I’ll be similar to @Tykhe or so.

My first thread may have been confusing. I got my first Birkin after spending 8k, then for respective Bs, I spent anywhere from 12-15k. This was pre-COVID; now it seems the minimum spending is 21k to 25k. Good to hear you were offered other QB bags in the interim. May I ask which colorway you were offered? I am not set on any particular color/leather, but I do want a neutral one (e.g. Chai, Gris t) - not sure if this is a reasonable expectation for someone like me. My biggest fear is being offered something I'd never use (e.g. Rouge H, bamboo) and having to decline, then go through the process all over again.

Omg, they were really selling quota bags to walk-ins during the pandemic? I stayed in the city that whole time, wish I would have known. :(

A light neutral might be hard to get simply bc it’s such a popular combo? No one will offer you a rouge H or bamboo if you ask for a light neutral  :flowers:

last month, at FSH, i asked for my dream bag, a bleu rainbow 1923 bolide 30. Sa asked what else, and I said a far second choice was a dark neutral B25, like blue nuit or graphite gray, phw. I was offered the opportunity to purchase both the bolide and a 25B, togo, bleu de prusse, PHW. But the B25 was a medium blue and I already have a 28K in medium blue gray and a JPG kelly fringe in a bleu obscure or Bleu de malte, I forget which. Plus the togo looked a bit dry and sad next to the bolide Lol. And, it was a bizarre experience to show FSH a pic of my dream bag (the rainbow) and have it actually appear. So rejected the 25B.

a week or so later, back in NY, I was offered a 25B, black and white toile swift quadrille, phw. My SA knows I love toile. But, I don’t know how he forgot that last September 2022, I accepted an FSH offer of a black and white 28K quadrille (bc I wore it to the Madison opening night). I briefly entertained a moment of insanity where I wondered if I would use two quadrille bags, but honestly the 28K was more elegant. So I rejected that 25B too. Here’s a pic of the 25B quadrille. ETA: while I waited for the gold sellier. 25B last year, I seem to recall being offered light colored Bs in ostrich and ostrich touch, but in size 30. I like ostrich, but I have enough 30B. And they were GHW, which isn’t really me. And my SA thought I should try a sellier B.

With Hermes you win some and you lose some. I genuinely like their rtw though so it isn’t that bad. I have shopped Chanel rtw for a decade (prior to Karl’s departure) before going to Hermes so it wasn’t too big of a transition.

Also, addressing the turning down offers thing, I don’t think it should be a big deal. My sa offered me a black b25 Ghw and I turned it down. I was immediately offered a gold one right afterward. I think they don’t mind much, especially if you hadn’t even opened the box or tried it on yet.

Only buy what you love and would purchase without the thought of a QB. Stop whenever you feel uncomfortable. You are in charge of what you choose to purchase. Resale can often be less expensive in the long run and much faster especially if you do not love the boutique offerings. If shopping is no longer fun, then there is no point. Good luck!

+100 with @Tykhe . There is no penalty for turning down any offer. another one will come along
