Hello all- I am a regular Hermes client in SF, coming to NYC this weekend. Wanted to check out the Madison Ave store. I don't see a way to make an appointment (I've been trying to figure it out since October). Is the line terrible daily? Is it best to be there before opening? Or could I get in line at 3 pm Friday and still be able to shop?
There is no line outside. However, there is a desk to the left of the entrance right as you come in. you check in there if you have an appointment and they call your SA. You also can check in there even if you have no appointment to see if any SAs are available. If you go first thing in the morning on a weekday, you should be able to get an SA pretty quickly. If you only intend to browse you can walk right in and browse as long as you want. Madison opens at 10 am btw

You can walk in and browse. However, for leather goods, you have to register for appt at i think it was the third floor and wait til the SA assigned was available. This was circa October- opening week to general population. The wait time was about 1.5 hrs. Im from out of state and didnt have an SA.

Hi all, I’ll be traveling to nyc 2 weeks later and I’m wondering how likely is it for a tourist a get a bkc? Which boutique would I more likely be able to get one? I’m also wondering how stock levels would be Boxing Day onwards. Any tips are appreciated! Thank you!

Unfortunately, I would have to say chances are low for a tourist looking for a BKC in NYC right now. Bag stock is still not back to pre COVID levels but it never hursts to ask. Your best bets would be the Madison flagship store and the Meatpacking District stores. Madison is open on Sundays during December except on Christmas Day which falls on a Sunday this year. The rest of the year, Madison is closed on Sundays. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the reply! How about other non quota bags? Like mini Lindy, mini bolide, picotin and mini Halzan? Thanks!

Mini Lindy, the mini picotin and picotin 18 continue to be much in demand but again no harm in asking. They usually have a few in stock but whether they’re holding them mostly for local clients only during the holiday season I can’t say. I’m not sure about mini Halzans as they don’t seem to be making as many Halzans in all sizes these days. When you go up to the leather department floor make sure you look at the case displaying heritage leather bags. The display is well worth a look. If you do go to Madison try going just as they open at 10 am. The store gets really packed later in the day.

i was in NYC the week before Thanksgiving and made sure to check out the new Madison store. i went right at 10 am when they opened and am glad i did, because it was getting so busy by the time i left around noon. truly incredible!!! it is not my home store, but i have purchased from there in the past, but the last time i was there was in 2016. i did not ask for a quota bag (BK), but did ask for Mini Lindy or C18 in neutral colors with GHW. i also asked for several charms i saw on display. my SA checked for approval in the back, and i know for a fact they looked at my overall purchase history with the brand, because she came back out and asked if i had changed my last name since i had been there last (and yes i did after my divorce). after i gave her my current last name, she went back again, and shortly after, came back out and said they had Mini Lindy Nata GHW or Gold PHW (i chose the Nata), and was also "approved" to buy 2 of the charms on display (Bolide on wheels charm & Pegase touch - but not the Kelly Doll charm ).

so my take from this experience is that if you have a decent purchase history with your home store and they see that you are a good client and brand enthusiast, they will probably offer you what they have in non-QB.

note that i did not purchase anything else aside for those 3 leather goods (Mini Lindy + 2 bag charms), so i was offered those items without any "pre-spend". we started on the 4th floor (leather goods), and worked our way down. i did ask for and tried some fine jewelry AFTER the leather goods had already been offered, but sadly the piece i wanted was not available in my size. i also looked at some shoes and silks, but again they didn't have it in my size or CWs that i wanted. i sadly did not have enough time to look at the RTW, we were there for so long already and i could feel my DH and DD starting to have a meltdown . so i quickly wrapped up my shopping and ended back on the 4th floor rooftop garden where we took some pics.

i hope this helps, and good luck!!!!

Hi,

I am visiting NYC next week and I was hoping that I can get a picotin 18. I am open for any colors and metals. I don’t have any purchase history in the US, but I did purchase few goods overseas. What do you guys think my chances of being able to get the picotin are? And do you have any tips?

I was just at the store yesterday. Seems they are running very low on bags. Doesn't hurt to ask, but I'd say chances are slim.

I visited Madison early December, went to the leather bag floor and approached someone who didn’t look busy. Worst experience ever! Her attitude was beyond words as if I bothered her during her working hours (maybe she expected to be on payroll with minimal or NO work?). I left that floor immediately. The guy at the front door was nice and courteous, maybe she should learn from him how to treat clients with respect.
It was my first time visiting the newly remodeled store, nice ambience, but it’s a shame that SA ruined the entire shopping experience.
Went to meatpacking, and the service was much better.
