I have never seen this light of which you speak :panic:
Dearest 880 - it’s so fleeting. I think it shoots down from the shoe department. The last time I saw this special sunbeam was on January 21, 2019, at 1:57pm EST. I was deciding whether I wanted to get a Bolide in Vert Cypress. I had to bring the bag close to the center of the floor near the staircase. How did I know the exact date? I have a photo of that Bolide that got away. :panic::lol:

It’s always the ones that get away. . . With your stunning talent, I’m sure the moment is immortalized in a beautiful art photo! Hugs

Perhaps you could post the photo immortalizing that very special sunbeam?

Sadly I don’t have one with the Bolide under the sunbeam. There wasn’t a place I could set the bag down and photograph it (the SAs would have screamed had I placed the bag on the stairs). I was also too busy turning the bag this way and that, deeply considering whether I could pull off carrying a VC bag. The photos I ended up taking were of me posing in front of the mirror with the bag. And I’m not sure if you recall but that day was absolutely frigid - I looked like a raw sea monster wrapped head to toe in winter boots, layers, scarves and oversized puffy jacket.

I should have worded my comment better - I knew the date/time by looking at photos from that day, and not a photo of the bag under the beam.

But I accept the challenge- I’ll chase the sun again and take that shot. ;)

Has anyone shopping at the NYC stores ever seen Cassie Thorpe there? She’s a YouTuber from the UK who moved to NYC a few months ago and her latest video is about her getting an orange mini Kelly from one of the stores there after shopping for only 2 months. She went through her purchase history which was quite minimal and, while it may or may not be entirely true, the way she went about it is just hilarious (in a good way!) ‘I definitely did not buy a sodding saddle or anything like that!’

I also love her infectious genuine excitement about the bag and how she felt at the appointment where her SA surprised her with the bag: ‘she said the boots I had ordered had come in, but when she opened the big box I only saw a small box inside, and I thought “oh god, the back office had forgotten to put the boots in the box! :cursing:“‘

I love Cassie! I also think it helped that she requested a bright color that may not be as popular with the masses. I don’t know of many folks asking for an orange MK.

That might be the case for her bambou green (?), but imo all shades of orange are quite popular. Maybe this one in particular is more on the neon side, so a little less popular. I read somewhere in this forum that neon/bright colors are more popular in places like Miami compared to NY though!

Cross posting my comment from the Hermes and Influencers thread:

Just saw Cassie Thorpe's unboxing of her mini kelly in orange PHW chevre mysore. It's honestly quite wild that she got this offer in the span of 2 months after starting to buy at H meatpacking (nyc) and only bought 2 twilly's + olympe ear cuff + blanket + fuzzy oran sandals + some travel perfumes. that's not even 3K USD altogether.

She said her SA didn't expect her to get her a bag, and a MKII at that, this quickly. She thought the NY meatpacking store is more about "whatever bags they get in go to the person that will enjoy it and not resell it" and not about "spend and you shall receive". Yeah if I got a MKII in 2 months after spending 3K I would think that too.

I hear H meatpacking is a more chill store (and I've seen this firsthand) compared to H madison but still? it must be full of extra high spenders.

I like Cassie so I'm going to give the benefit of doubt that she didn't buy it from a reseller and disguise it as store-bought (as so many of the posts here have explicitly pointed out about others). Maybe she's very memorable to her SA because of her fun personality. :shrugs:

I couldn't quote your quote from the other thread but I shop at Meatpacking and had a casual, candid conversation with my SA who said to take everything influencers say with a grain of salt with regards to H.

I watched the same video - I like her alot - and she received a very hard to get Mini Kelly in Orange (poppy)!
I only shopped at Meatpacking a few times as I preferred Madison and Wall Street. The SA I had in MP was snooty to me with a really cool vibe like he only came out at night (LOL). Cassie really hit the jackpot or preference was made because she is an influencer. I am seeing influencers or youtubers unboxing bag offers - some with little or no purchase history - I on the otherhand spend $$$$ to get my offers.

I've been shopping at meatpacking for a few years, almost since their opening. It's been very frustrating how arbitrary they are with the offers.
I think MP tries to cultivate the youngish Instagram influencer set as its customer base. This is reflected by their choice of inventory, which is heavy on lower-priced pieces that would be easy to recognize in photos: logo-heavy RTW t shirts/knits, trinket-type jewelry pieces, sneakers and Orans. More recently, they've hosted several promotional events for the makeup launches and invited mostly minor local Instagrammers, but they no longer hold showings or events for the dedicated clientele.
I've had a lot of trouble purchasing more "serious" RTW pieces and jewelry because they simply don't order it for the store. Needless to say, the bag offers haven't come as easily as for this woman either.

I have to admit MP was a lot friendlier and helpful to me, but their merchandise was terribly limited. They were no helpful or nice at the Wall Street Location and Madison it was crazy just to find ONE SA to assist. I do believe that IG plays a big role in their popularity and sales. I see Michael Coste always posting photos with reality stars or other asian starlets or just plain crazy rich asians - and I have no doubt it's because of their IG following - and I'm sure they get tons of perks being VIP at Hermes, too.

It’s a guessing game. Whatever the spend may be it’s not uniform and so whoever is waiting for a qb offer now has to be willing to trust the sa and the process and realize spend could go up and up.

its interesting how everyone’s experience is so different. At MP, post Covid, DH and I could not enter even to browse, until we said, hey we shop at Madison and just wanted to look inside. The SA told us no one was available to help, so we just walked through like ghosts. The shoe area was much nicer though.

im a solid client at Madison and offers took a while bc stock was uneven. these days, it’s not easy to get RTW either. I was able to buy a jacket that I love before the RTW appt, only bc I happened to be in the store that day. my SA said there were only three units in North America. i think H still isn’t quite there in terms of it’s RTW buy. Incidentally, this season sizes run very large, so it’s hard to even estimate what to ask for.

madison has also been crazy busy. One saturday in the summer, usually a dead time, I had an appt. my sA was kept so busy with his prior appt that ran super late, I just gave up and left after about 40 minutes of waiting. (He was able to text me thst he was delayed), and I was fine with that. My point is only that it’s hard to get hold of help even if you have an SA lol.

re offers, I just try not to compare myself to others. not sure I really believe all the social media stuff
