Agree with the posts above. I'm not sure what is considered to be "large" vs "small". I've only ever shopped at my local boutique. It was relatively quite small and always had low stock.
But my boutique recently upgraded, got a bigger space and remodeled, and it has made a huge difference in terms of stock! Of course demand is still high and there are always going to be things that are harder to get, but it is so much better than it was before.

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Hermes and have recently started exploring the brand. Apologies ahead of time if this is an obvious question. But, is it better to meet an SA and consistently buy from a larger Hermes store vs a smaller one? I live in NY, there is a smaller Hermes store closer to where I live, instead of the large Midtown manhattan one. I am asking for a couple of reasons.

1. I would assume the large Manhattan stores receive celebrity clients, even every once in a while. I can’t help but feel a sense of they would rather service those larger clients if they came in. Which, I understand since I am NO celebrity.
2. I am not willing to drive to the city or carry large Hermes bags through boroughs. (Like many NY’ers I use mass transit to get in/out of the city.)
3. I can drive to the location closer to my home.
4. I also don’t want to build a relationship with an SA, only for the store to receive little to no stock of items or bags.

These are just random thoughts, and I don’t expect answers. That would be impossible to tell. Maybe just prior experiences? Or advice? If I am completely overthinking this, feel free to let me know. I tend to do that. Haha :)
You can ask for a white plain bag..or even bring your own shopping bag to haul away your H goodies if you aren't comfortable carrying the H paper bag. Don't laugh but I sometimes bring a trash bag and put in stuff there..and of course..people leave me alone! I prefer not to be seen carrying around paper bags from popular and expensive stores in crowded areas.
Big or small H boutique doesn't matter to me. What matters is whether or not I have a good rapport with the SA/SM. Because then, they can look after what I like. If you went to a big store with a good stock or selection of items, but you are not cool with the staff there..what makes you think they will give you the popular/highly-coveted item that you requested for? Based from experience, a good SA can make hard-to-find items magically appear :)

100% agree with these. My personal experience, I started it out with the flagship store thinking because they are flagship, more stocks and much more convenience for me. But after couple tried and errors and couldn’t find the SA that clicked with, I gave up the flagship and went ahead with the smaller store. I’ve found myself an amazing SA who’s been nothing but wonderful and basically can get everything that I asked for, even if the store shelves itself barely has anything.

I have a pretty good relationship with my SA. I would say that your relationship with your SA does matter. Like the @showgratitude
above comment said, H/she can magically make stocks appear if you’re patience and willing to wait for the coveted items. Good luck!

ladies what was your presepend with your specific SA before a bag offer in 2022?

in 2022, mine was at least 3X, probably closer to 5X (including DHs ) for a gold25B sellier, but I didn’t have a specific combo in mind; I told my SA if he saw something that looked like me, to let me know. i did get offers for light and dark neutral B30s (touch, ostrich etc. months before that.

Last year, it didn’t take much spend to get a B30 neutral, and my SA said if he realized I wanted one, I could have gotten it sooner.

i don’t really include leather bags in my prespend, but I don’t actually keep strict track. I’m mainly a RTW person

I get the impression b25s are hard to come by. Every time I ask for something my sa seems to be eager to offer a k25 or a mini Kelly instead of a b 25. I guess for my next SO I will be asking for a b25

Have been waiting almost 2 years to be offered something off of my wishlist. i am a consistent and loyal customer to my SA and have purchased from many different departments. there has not been one time that in the last 2 years of working with this SA, she/he offered me anything - shoes. bags. hats.... ive always been the one to reach out. on a few special occasions i reached out asking if it was possible to get a whishlist item and i was told at one point the following month something was coming in..i never got a phone call. i just found out my SA has moved departments and now i am a little worried if she/he will know when someone on my whistlist has come in to notify me. asking for advice here as ive been extremely exhausted over this "hermes game."

Hi all - I am super new to the Hermes game and have never shopped Hermes before. I am hoping to purchase a gold Picotin 18 to celebrate my birthday. Is it possible to walk into an NYC store and request for this? If so - what stores would you recommend trying at? Any SAs to recommend? I am interested in continuing to build spend (I love their belts, shoes, etc) so would prefer to start a relationship vs. buying preloved. Thank you so much in advance!

In usual times, if the stores had a Picotin available, I think they would be more than happy to sell it to you. But I don’t think we’re in usual times and Picotin has gotten more popular, so stores might be reserving and allocating them to existing clients who have asked. I don’t think it hurts to ask, but I would just set expectations with yourself that you may not get it the very first time you walk in store.

I think it’s very hard for us to tell you which store to go to or our SAs as what works for us may not work for you. For example, I started at MP because I read here that it has a younger, livelier vibe and I felt intimidated by Madison. Met a SA at MP and it just didn’t click and I didn’t love my experience there. I ended up going to Madison on a whim one day and met my current SA and they’ve been nothing but great and helpful since. I switched to shopping at Madison now and it doesn’t hurt that Madison usually gets more inventory (though with the new store opening, I get a sense that they’re holding some stuff back). My best recommendation is to go in to the store, get a feel for it yourself, and let it flow naturally. If you’re intent on starting a long term relationship, then the bags will eventually come.
