I walked into Madison recently (dressed nicely, wearing vca jewelry, etc) and i was completely ignored. I walked up to the scarf counters with plenty of sa around & no customers but they didn't even glance at me , let alone say hello or offer assistance.
Same in each department i went to.
Eventually i just left.

In that situation, I just speak up and ask for help. (assuming you really wanted something and not just window shopping, one of my favorite pastimes)

Yeah I think SAs whom I don’t already know only come up and act friendly if I am wearing recent Hermes rtw. Otherwise they ignore you. It is the same story at Chanel with Chanel rtw and fine jewelry.

Yea, I feel like it’s like that at most Hermes stores but I also think they try not to bother guests unless their called upon. At least in my experience, I always say hello and they’re super friendly back. Often times, they try not to bother guests who are window shopping or are waiting for their clients to show up. I was just there Wednesday and think maybe might be better to schedule an appt if you’re looking for more personalized time. I always book a time with my SA cux he doesn’t feel rushed and neither do I

Exactly & since there has been so many posts on Tpf about SA's at various H shops & overall attitude, I would
have just asked for assistance if I wanted to see a scarf...

I was so intimidated that i said nothing

Why be intimidated?? The SA's are there to help you.
Was this your first time in an H boutique or your first time in Madison?
I know the manager quite well at this store & she makes it a point to make sure the
SA's acknowledge clients.. Obviously things fall through the cracks, but not to be
asked if you needed help if you were that close to the scarf counter, is really not nice &
surprising

I understand why you may feel intimidated. But as others mentioned, the SAs at hermes, especially at madison, tend to not say anything in order to not bother people who may just want a quiet window shopping experience. They usually wait for the customers to make the first move.

I get it though, I felt this same way at first. Next time, though, if you can, speak up! They actually super friendly there.

Good to know!

Not sure is it cultural thing but I like to browse on my own first and then reach out to SA if I need any help. I find it offputting that someone is there wathing my every step and asking at all different departments what they can do for you  I would be thinking that please leave me alone until I want some help
Same here! I actually prefer when SAs leave me alone until I ask for something because sometimes I feel rushed or just thrown off when they constantly ask if I need anything. Might be a cultural thing i agree

I was in Madison today. Definitely slim pickings but a few good finds in the SLG dept and accessories. The bag situation is tough for the employees and you can tell they are trying to do their best with the current situation. I second the above comments. The SA's at Madison are great about giving you space to browse unless you approach them in most cases. Always a lovely experience at this location. :)

Hello everyone I sent a virtual appointment request to the meatpacking Hermès store for a Saturday appointment. It will be my first time shopping with this brand. Granted it’s only been a day but I have not gotten a confirmation only an email saying the request went through and the name of the random SA assigned. I think if there is no confirmation by Friday I just will not be shopping at this location. Also appreciate any advice for first time shopper. Thanks so much!

FWIW, my first H experience was also at Meatpacking and I also made the appointment online. I did not receive any confirmation email, but did tick off to be reminded by text and email in advance. The day of my appointment I got worried because I did not hear anything, so I ended up calling about three hours in advance and spoke to someone who confirmed that they were seeing my appointment in the system. I ended up receiving a text about an hour in advance.
When I got there (I got there about 15 minutes earlier than my appointment time), the guard took my name, passed me some hand sanitizer and told me that my “assigned SA” would come to get me but I’d be free to walk around and browse. Ended up walking up and down the store for about half an hour before I headed back to the main floor and a SA who just wrapped up with another client saw me and asked if I was waiting for someone. I said I’m not sure given it’s my first time and SA mentioned they could help me.
Also, FWIW, while the SA who helped me in Meatpacking was professional, nice and gave me her card, I had reached out a few weeks later after shopping and did not hear back from them. I ended up going to Madison afterwards as a walk-in, where I met a great SA, who has been nothing but kind and responsive. My SA at Madison actually approached me when they saw me looking at items and we’ve kicked it off since then.

You know I saw the Hermès Madison store on google maps and it says “Hermès Men’s” and assumed it only had men’s merchandise haha so I did not consider that one. But really appreciate the help!
