Hermes locations in NJ

Hello! Does anyone have some good advice to get a head start on the waiting list for Hermes appointments BEFORE a store opening? I ask because a Hermes store is opening in Princeton, NJ fall 2023 (I’ve only been counting down since last fall haha!). I live in the area and have been so eager for them to open and want to know if there’s any good takeaways from the Madison store opening. I do not have a history yet with Hermes, since I’ve always lived far from the boutiques and struggled to develop a consistent relationship with an SA. I’ve been eyeing a few things but decided to wait until fall 2023 to start shopping, so I can develop a strong relationship with an SA but it’s so far away! Any advice would be helpful.

I think for store opening appointments, particularly any special pre-public appts, Hermes invites existing clients. I believe Hermes also sometimes has SAs from other boutiques come in to help with the opening, so those SAs might extend invites and appointments to their established clients. IIRC, I saw someone mention that their Houston SA was helping with the Madison reopening, so the client flew there to shop. For the Madison opening, my SA asked me if I wanted to make a pre-opening appt, but I had been shopping with them for over a year already.

All that’s to say, I would temper expectations of getting invited to any special opening invites (not sure if all stores have one either!), but once the boutique opens, there should be a good mix of new/established SAs for you to meet and the opportunity for you to establish a relationship. If you want to start now, you could visit another location, but if you plan on switching home stores in the next year, IMHO I don’t see a point.

I would start a relationship with a near by store ASAP. For reopenings, shopping elsewhere won’t help but for a new location opening, the new store will be attempting to steal clients from other stores and a strong purchase history could make you the type of buyer they want to poach.

This is really helpful, thank you so much for your perspective! Maybe this is a good excuse for me to start working on my wishlist this year :) there is an Hermes in Philly, which isn’t too far.

I’ve been holding off on my first hermes purchase, since 1) I started my handbag journey only about 2 years ago and been sucked into the world of Chanel (which has been crap not gonna lie lol)

2) I heard about the new store opening at the end of last year and thought that it would make more sense for me to develop a relationship with a local store that I can visit monthly for a pick me up VS dropping into the NYC flagship stores with waits.

Makes sense that the opening invites are for loyal clients. I’m just so eager for this new store to open!

You’re tempting me to visit the closest Hermes boutique this weekend haha!! This is really helpful, I think I’ll definitely have to start building relationships soon.

Hi everyone! How difficult is it to get a mini Lindy in NJ stores, especially at AD? My SA told any minis are a unicorn and will be almost impossible to get. I'm debating if I should wait or, AD being a super competitive store, I should look into pre-loved. Any insight would be helpful! Thanks

Well, tbh that sounds like Hermes speech for “you don’t have a qualifying profile for a mini lindy“ (amount of spend, length of shopping history with that specific boutique, number of categories where purchases are made, etc). Waiting without continuing to spend wont really yield any result. If you’re not in a huge rush to get a mini lindy immediately, or are open to any color leather combinations, then waiting and continuing to spend for a boutique offer might make more sense? Otherwise save the boutique spend to pay the markup for the exact combo you want in the secondary market.

Thanks for your input! After visiting some larger stores with much more items and reading about how some smaller stores get less inventory including bags, I thought there might be a chance that mini bags could really be a unicorn at AD. Perhaps you're right. Though I haven't stopped spending since I'm waiting for another QB, but I am new-ish with the store. I'll chat with my SA again and see if her thoughts have changed. Hopefully it's for the better!

Can someone let me know their experience getting an Hermes Birkin or Kelly at the American Dream Mall? Purchase history and wait time? TIA
AD is a very tough and competitive store. Expect the same spend and time as Madison. Also, depending on the SA some of them can only offer one QB a year and others can offer 2- Clarify with your SA before you are too deep into it.
