Just a quick note on the boutique at T5 Heathrow; unless you are flying outside of EU, you will be charged the same price as the regular boutiques in the UK. As this is higher than the euro prices, better to shop in Euroland if you can when you get there. Most unhappy camper when we were at the airport last week and discovered this!

As an aside, coming back through Rome's Fiumicino airport I was delighted to get the pair of Valentino boots that I had been after but didn't have my size at the Piazza di Spagna boutique, at a 20% discount and with no problem that I was travelling within the EU. Go figure!:shrugs:

I heard different things. that if you are a non EU resident you can still get duty free prices if you are flying out of UK to another EU country. I was actually wondering this myself. or does it depend on the boutique?

Sorry, I don't know. Items in the boutique all had 2 prices and they were using boarding passes to check where you were flying to. As you say, maybe different rules for non-EU citizens. I just thought it was interesting that I could still get the tax-free price in Rome.

I read an article a while ago about this. So apparently showing your boarding pass is optional and they cannot force you but it's implemented in most places to discriminate pricing

Do you remember roughly how much cheaper it would have been in heathrow if you left eu?

I got charged full price in CDG because I was headed to the UK but I did not know I could ask for a detaxe form and get the money back once I left the EU and found that out only after the period was over and I was back home already. I feel a bit sad I missed out on a €200 refund

Residency doesn't matter for airport duty-free purchases. It's the next destination that matters for the most part. And yes, it varies by the retailer which was previously discussed in this post.

VAT free for Heathrow H purchase is 20%. To make it easy, take the retail price divided by 1.2 and you'll arrive at the VAT free price. ;)

Thank you! I think I happened upon your discussion earlier and couldn't find the post again. I'm now debating if it would be cheaper to buy in Germany (my final destination by way of Heathrow) and then detax at the airport.

It'll probably be cheaper but with H, one isn't always able to find the exact item one is looking for at the store, so... ;)

Hi guys does anyone know if the San Francisco airport store has the clic clac bracelets ? I'm wondering what the price of the thinnest and medium size is . Thanks
i was there last month and the store experience was very pleasant. they did carry what most H boutiques would. saw some clic clac bracelets as well. i don't remember the price I'm sorry.

Is this from personal experience? When i shopped at hermes cdg airport, the prices are only 10% lower than H city price which means they follow h paris store refund tax rate (10%) instead of france tax refund rate which is 20%. I am afraid heathrow prices wont follow UK refund tax rate of 20%

U.K. Prices are higher than the rest of Europe though. So 20% cheaper at heathrow did make sense to me....

Just like the 12% vat refund in Europe in the U.K. It's 20% vat refund
