So even if you shop at H duty free in CDG you don't necessarily save on the full VAT that you would get refunded if you shopped at a H boutique?
i am very interested in knowing the fact too, since i was under the impression that international travellers were charged 20% less than those outside duty-free zone because there is no involvement with GlobalBlue (or other tax return service company)

I was flying from
CDG to Edinburgh and did end up praying city price because I was not leaving the eu

However I went to CDG again a couple weeks ago and was told I could ask for a refund form and then get the detaxe once I left Europe.

In CDG is just 10%

Thanks! Guess if possible it's better to get at boutique then if leaving the EU to get more VAT refunded.

It really depends
The one time I shopped at CDG they had a beautiful selection and it was worth paying the city price and not get the tax refund

Had I known I could get the refund would have been better but it was still cheaper than USA

Oh and the other time I shopped at CDG with the price lowered (10%) they had a good selection of scarves so I got them there

That is true. Never know what you will find in the airport vs boutique. CDG doesn't offer personal shopper service that allows you to reserve 24 hrs in advance like heathrow right?

Honestly I have no idea

But I have once been offered an Evelyne tpm rose Sakura at CDG. I cannot believe I haven't taken it!!

I went through Frankfurt twice last week, here is my experience:
coming and leaving at Terminal A it was quite a walk and security (took me some persuasion to get in) to get to the store at Terminal B, but they did not have what I was looking for, so it was a very quick visit.
On the way home I visited the boutique at Terminal Z, it was really close to Terminal A and bigger as well. Scarves only from the current collection, very high turnover of merchandise. Some rather big sealed boxes behind the counter, no interesting bags on display (I think to remember a double sense).
Very lovely SA, I spent most of my layover at the boutique, almost bought a scarf, but the pattern did not sing to me and I promised not to buy silk just to get an orange box. Too bad she did not let me take a selfie with the scarf around my neck...

Just a quick note on the boutique at T5 Heathrow; unless you are flying outside of EU, you will be charged the same price as the regular boutiques in the UK. As this is higher than the euro prices, better to shop in Euroland if you can when you get there. Most unhappy camper when we were at the airport last week and discovered this!
As an aside, coming back through Rome's Fiumicino airport I was delighted to get the pair of Valentino boots that I had been after but didn't have my size at the Piazza di Spagna boutique, at a 20% discount and with no problem that I was travelling within the EU. Go figure!:shrugs:

Has anyone ever spotted CDCs at the Hermes at Heathrow?

They had some last week when I passed through T5 Hermes. They didn't have the combo I wanted but there were some in unopened boxes. The ones I remember are black with silver hardware and Colvert with silver hardware. Hope you can find the color you are looking for
