I was at the Waikiki store, I purchased GP and wanted some houseware and shoes but was not available. He brought out a rodeo and twilly but I wasn’t interested. He then hinted if I spend more there might be a B or K in the back.
I was so disappointed with his tactic, I left.
I think that’s their normal practice but I am surprised it happened at the Waikiki store

I will be visiting Hawaii in January. Would there be any chance of walking in and getting a B30? I don’t have a H purchase history but would be willing to buy if a bag is possible, I have not purchased anything from my home store (Beverly Hills) as I have heard there must be a significant spending history and most desirable bags go to VIPs and celebrities. I just turned down a B30 in Paris because it was not my ideal combo and I’m hoping for expert input to help me strategize. Thank you!

So interested in this! Were you successful? Hoping for good news!

Me too, however I was told this is becoming there normal practice in Hawaii now since many tourists come looking for b/k,which is sad and disappointing.
I traveled to Waikiki annually, I’ve purchased my first birkin without any other purchases.

Just came back from my Oahu trip.
Went to the Waikiki one as I heard the SA's at Ala Moana aren't as friendly. And as soon as I walked in, all the SA's greeted me with a smile and a warm welcome. Everyone was so friendly. I got there around 11 am and there was maybe another customer in there.
I was interested in getting a pair of Oren flats. So I went straight to the 3rd floor for women's shoes. Elvin, the SA there, instantly joked with us as soon as we got there. He was very helpful in helping me choose the right color and size. We then decided to get a belt for DH as he doesn't have any luxury belts. Again, Elvin was more than helpful in finding us the right size. And we decided on the matte black buckle.
I then inquired about waiting lists for a Kelly, and he said there isn't really a waiting list there. I told him my dream bag was a black Kelly 25 with GHW. As he was ringing us up, he asked if I was interested in a yellow one in a 28. Or a reddish pink one. And he said I could take it home today if I wanted something with color. I declined as I have my heart set on a black one. He continued to ring us up and he asked us to take a seat while he finished wrapping up our boxes.
And as he handed my bags to me, he asked if I was interested in the Constance. And I said, a Constance 18 black would be something I would be interested in. And sure enough, a few minutes later, he took us upstairs and opened a brand new Constance 18 Noir in Epsom leather and PHW. I took it of course!
As I was walking out, 2 ladies were checking out 3 picotins. Another lady was trying on an Evelyne TPM in Noir. And another lady walked out with a bigger box. I'm thinking she left with a Kelly or Birkin, as they seemed very appreciative of their SA.

In hindsight, I wish I had gone our first day. Elvin did inquire when we were leaving. So I think they do try their best to get you a purse you want, and I've heard of other customers being called back for a purse.
I had a great experience with my first in-store Hermes purchase. (My husband bought me a bracelet years ago, so long ago that it wasn't even in the system.)

Congrats! What a wonderful experience. I'm kinda kicking myself for not going there, we were there for a few days during our honeymoon. Do they seem to have a lot of stock in everything? At this point, I still have bags I want to get, but I'm really into SLGs.

I'm not too familiar with the SLGs, but it's a big store. And they looked to have a lot of inventory. They had just had a delivery the day prior.

This is my question too. I will be visiting Waikiki with family in a couple of months and hoping to maybe find an Evie TPM or maybe even a B/K if it's in the combo I want... I have a decent spending history at my home store (not major but not teensy) so wondering if it's normal on Oahu to walk in and just ask for a quota bag? In my home store it'd be a nonstarter to do that without a relationship with a SA :)

I’ve heard of this too - that Hawaii is one of the few places that tourists get a good chance of scoring a quota bag with a very small pre-spend. Good luck!
Do you mean pre-spend at their store or pre-spend via a purchase history at your own or other stores?

Also Honolulu airport had bags. They had 2 c in stock. No purchase history needed just ask. One thing to note is that all purchases are picked up your at the gate. They are unable to tell you what time the delivery will occur however so purchase at your own risk. We thought it was a bit risky the price you pay for a c. Also for our flight the pick up point was in area after boarding prior to entering the plane
Ooh interesting - can you go to the HNL airport store if you're flying domestic or only if you're flying internationally?

@melnag26 Thanks for the post - super helpful to read :) and congrats!

You have to spend in the store you are hoping to score from. The airport store only sells to those with an international ticket and, from what the SA told me, your purchases are handed to you after you board the plane (to be sure you are truly leaving the country).

Ah gotcha! I may not be able to snag something then... budget has been primarily spent at my home store (darn!) - I may buy a few small things, but nothing major. I can afford a quota bag, but not a quota plus a bunch of other stuff.
