Hi! Has anyone encountered glazing issues with their Chypres? I’ve only used mine maybe 3-4 times. The glazing started to crack already at the area where it usually creases. I just noticed it today. And I’m extremely shocked and disappointed. Please see photos.

Hi , can you tell me how did you fix your problem with Chypre sandals Because same thing just happend to me ?
Thank you.

My only opinion is that the suede seems to be more comfortable.

I second this. I will only buy suede moving forward. I can wear regular leather with socks only.

I whole heartedly agree with this! Suede is 100 times more comfortable! Now that it's summer, I finally decided to try to break in my black calfskin chypres. O.M.G. these are like medieval torture shoes. It has been a week and they are still so stiff and rub against my pinky toes, and after the first day, the top of my foot was super sore and I don't even know why! I started by wearing them with socks in the house, then without socks, and even tried the hair dryer trick to soften them and it's only helped marginally. Then I remembered I have several other pairs of chypres, so slipped on my suede rose porcelaine pair... it was like slippers from heaven compared to the black calfskin! The rose porcelaine ones are also half a size smaller than my other ones (it was the only size available in the store) so I wonder if I actually needed to size down because chypres are wide on my feet. So to experiment, I tried my rose escarlat pair which are also suede but half a size bigger, which is actually my normal shoe size. They are also very comfortable but I do feel like my feet slip around a tiny bit and find myself doing the toe grip. So I know some people say size up, some say they are TTS, and now I'm wondering if I needed to size down! I guess point of the story is suede is infinitely more comfortable, and one really should try on a couple different sizes to see which is the best fit.

p.s. I have epsom chypres as well and they are also more comfortable than the black calfskin. And for some reason the studded calfskin even feels more comfortable than the plain black calfskin, which doesn't make sense. I might just give up on those!!

My leather chypres became my go to sandals I wear with socks to pilates lol. If I wear them barefoot, I get crazy blisters on top of my feet. If I had known that I’d never break them in, I’d have sold them. Oh well…

Oh no! Well at least I know these shoes are un-break-in-able and I will give up lol! My rose porcelaine ones are my favorite right now , at least from a comfort standpoint. Although they will probably get so dirty!

If it makes you feel any better, I've worn my suede ones to the beach and they've been fine! I got them sandy but not too wet. My two pairs of chypres are suede. Making a mental note never to buy anything other than suede for the chypres.

Happy to report I recently walked a few miles with calfskin Chypres and feet are ok! I did have socks/bandaid/flip flop in my bag just in case. Love the look but will only wear for short walk or driving. I’m pretty sensitive, even leather Birk give me blisters top of feet :(

I just thought I would add that I have different leather Chypres and find them all comfortable. Of course the suede will always be more comfortable but I wear my leather ones a lot too.
:)

Yeah I’ve had 0 issues with comfort in my calf chypre - comfortable right out of the box. I tried on my normal size and they were a bit tight so I went up a half size and no issues. I think people who have issues went too small

I fell in love with the color Nude and just got my first pair of Chypre. As a Chypre newbie I didn’t even realize different level of comfortableness based on leathers until now! So happy this color turned out to be suede.all my orans and oasis and Hermes loafers and sneakers are 39 but I sized up a half size based on my SA’s rec and they are an absolute dream to walk in from day 1.

Another data point for sizing chypre sandals in suede. I have wide feet and I'm usually a 36 or 6, ideally wide. Sometimes I'm a 5.5W. Most H shoes are not all day walking kind of shoes. I wear Orans and most H shoes in a 36.5. I size up in a suede Oasis in 37.

I'm a perfect fit in 36.5. I also have a pair of 37.5 that are just a little big in length but I might be able to make it work (haven't worn it yet).
Hello! May i know if the hermes printed logo on the soles will fade due to wearing? The logo printed in a dark grey color haha thank u

Hi there, I want to buy my first Chypres and I'm looking at the Étoupe in epsom. Are they reeeeally true to size now? Should I size up with Epsom? Also what makes Espom so uncomformable? Where do they rub? I'm a true size 37 in length, but sometimes have to size up for extra width due to bunions (ex ballet dancer). I don't have any other Hermes shoes. Please help!
Hi, I have the Chypre in Etoupe epsom leather and honestly they are tts (same size as my Orans) and they have been comfortable right out of the box, no issues what so ever and the color is gorgeous in person. Get them if you can and go with the size you size up to normally in sandals.
