hi all! need your help/advice! I got the Chypre sandals in 38.5 (my regular size is 38). Not sure if they are still a bit too small? I tried a bit of walking at home and it felt ok, but I dont know how it will be with actual long walking + potential sweating of feet

Was almost a miracle to snatch these online, not sure if 39 will be in stock in this colour... On the other hand, it's an expensive pair of shoes to settle for something that is not absolutely perfect. Please let me know what you think!!! And sorry for the messy background :D

Congrats, I love this colour!
I would walk a few steps around the house to see if your heel touches the back of the shoe and whether it is uncomfortable... if so, try and find the 39 :)

Do the Chypre have any sort of arch support? I'm reading that they're similar to Birkenstocks but I'm wondering if it's just in the style or if they're actually a decent shoe for your feet.
I’m not feeling any arch support on them. Standing on them for more than 10 minutes I feel my heel hurt a little? The sole is quite flat. For reference I have very flat feet to begin with

I'd suggest trying half size up. While your big toe has plenty of space, the other toes touch the insole ridge quite a bit. My SA told me these are designed to be worn TTS, where your foot should lay inside the ridge without having much extra room. That ridge is hard, and it may hurt your toes when you wear them for a while. However, be mindful of how loose the band is as well. Since these are heavy, wearing it too loose will makes it impossible to wear (slips right off or you will be gripping for your life with your toes). Also, band softens, but doesn't really stretch.

After wearing these for about 8 months nonstop, including international travel, they are now a bit beat up. Any advice on cleaning/refreshing them?

I've seen some people use a baby wipe to clean and then leather conditioner to protect leather.

Also, how are people dealing with the bottom sole wear? Taking it to a cobbler, or just using non-slip tape to protect edges?

TIA!

Tip for breaking in: Wear with socks as your go-to shoe for a couple months until you feel the band has softened a bit. As for those couple areas underneath that scratches due to stitching - noticed it becomes less scratchy later, but I still feel it and can hurt sometimes. Adding moleskin or something to cover it will be best bet vs suffering through the pain.

I went 2sizes up on Chypres, and my friends all went 1size up. It really depends on your walking habits. And dont want to hurt myself when accidentally step on the rear edge
