Reporting back on the difference between size 40 and 40.5. For reference, the 40 was purchased last Feb and the 40.5 was purchased 2 weeks ago.

To my surprise, the 40.5 feels SUPER tight across the H cutout. I couldn’t walk in them for more than 5 mins without losing circulation in my foot. The 40 was comfortable straight out of the box.

You can see from the photo that the H cutout on the 40 is slightly bigger than the 40.5. I suspect that they were produced from different factories…

(FYI, My left foot is half cm longer than my right foot)

In regards to the length difference, the 40.5 gives me more space between my toes and the top edge of the sandal, but my foot doesn’t sit comfortably within the contours of the footbed. Whereas the 40 fits my foot exactly and feel the footbed hugging my foot in the right places. It might look like my toes are hitting the top edge in the 40 but I don’t feel it when walking in them.

In conclusion, you might have to play Goldilocks and order a few different pairs to find one that fits you. If you don’t want to do that, I suggest going with your Oran size. The sizing guide on their website is highly inaccurate so don’t use that when choosing your size.
Thank you so much for posting the difference between a 40 and a 40.5. I am in the same boat with the sizing and have a pair of suede size 40 Chypre sandals (bought from the website around last Christmas). The pair i have fits perfectly, but there isnt that much space in the back or in the front, just like in your photos. I contacted Hermes customer service and was told that the length difference between a 40 and 40.5 is half an inch, so i was debating between ordering a 40 again or a 40.5. Looks like ill be sticking to size 40, which is also my size in the Oran sandals. Length wise, how much of a difference is there would you say? Thank you beforehand 🙏🏼

You don’t see much of a difference but on the foot the 40.5 feels about half a cm longer than the 40. Length wasn’t so much of a concern for me as the width was as I have wide feet. The 40.5 was so narrow and tight for some reason so I had to return it.

If the 40 feels comfortable and you have no issues with it, I would say don’t size up.

Oh wow, the difference is really minuscule length wise, I think I will just stick with a 40, I also have wide feet and wouldn't want to compromise the width. Thank you so much again for taking the photo of the difference in length, it was beyond helpful ;)

They look great on you! Do you feel it has a grey or greenish tone to it?
Grey! But a beige-ish grey. The photo makes them look a tiny bit lighter and greener than they are. It’s hard to describe the color aside from it’s an incredibly neutral color

ETA: actually is it possible for them to have both a slight green and grey undertone? The color is soo hard to describe, I’ve never seen it before. But it’s prob the greatest neutral I’ve seen

That’s great how much you love the color. I think it’s funny how it’s impossible to describe!! Thanks for sharing.:giggle::biggrin:
