Hermès CHYPRE sandals

I’m a 40 across the board in pretty much every designer shoe brand even in Hermes Orans and Chanel dad sandals (maybe I could’ve sized down 1/2 a size as they run slightly big). I’m also a US 9 in Nike, New Balance and other sneaker brands. I got a 40 in the calfskin Chypres and they fit perfect. I heard suede stretches out more than calfskin. Anyone who owns both can confirm if the two leathers fit the same?
Thank you for the tip! I ordered a suede pair in size 40 and hopefully they will fit well.

Maybe I wear my shearling Chypres too much, but I’ve worn bald spots in the toe and heel areas… has this happened to anyone else, and can Hermes replace the footbed shearling?
Bought them last summer, have worn them mostly in Fall and last month or 2. I have a pair of suede ones that are older but still look pristine despite wearing them nearly every day last summer, wonder if the shearling just wears down with use?
That's so unfortunate to see this happen. I think that's just the nature of shearling as you use it over time. Especially considering that the weight of your entire body is on the shearling.

I hope that H after-sales spa/repair can replace the shearling on shoes. Not sure if they will charge or not...

Hi there,
I wonder if you could help me with your feedback. Currently I have home 2 fully black Chypre - Women and Men type. Is there someone who can tell me difference from the experience? The visual difference I get - the "H" is slightly more robust on Men's.

But is there anything you could add to comfort and difference while wearing?

Thank you!!

The Men's Chypre is wider than the Women's Chypre, so if you have wider feet, you might find the Men's Chypre better for your feet. Since the Men's Chypre is wider, it causes the H to look elongated, other than that, nothing else is different

I just ordered a 40.5 in the leather to compare to my 40. My right foot is slightly wider than my left and feel like the right pair is slightly pinching the side of my foot (i have minor bunions). Will report back on the fit.
Reporting back on the difference between size 40 and 40.5. For reference, the 40 was purchased last Feb and the 40.5 was purchased 2 weeks ago.

To my surprise, the 40.5 feels SUPER tight across the H cutout. I couldn’t walk in them for more than 5 mins without losing circulation in my foot. The 40 was comfortable straight out of the box.

You can see from the photo that the H cutout on the 40 is slightly bigger than the 40.5. I suspect that they were produced from different factories…

(FYI, My left foot is half cm longer than my right foot)

In regards to the length difference, the 40.5 gives me more space between my toes and the top edge of the sandal, but my foot doesn’t sit comfortably within the contours of the footbed. Whereas the 40 fits my foot exactly and feel the footbed hugging my foot in the right places. It might look like my toes are hitting the top edge in the 40 but I don’t feel it when walking in them.

In conclusion, you might have to play Goldilocks and order a few different pairs to find one that fits you. If you don’t want to do that, I suggest going with your Oran size. The sizing guide on their website is highly inaccurate so don’t use that when choosing your size.
