Today I had a fun and unexpected bonding moment with another Hermes fan. 😊 I brought my new Evelyne to an appt with an orthopedic surgeon, mostly to cheer myself up as I’ve been dreading it. It was tucked away next to me, the H facing in, but when we walked to the X ray room the nurse leaned over and said she loved my style and loved the bag. When we got there she told me she has a pink Birkin from years ago, which led to a longer conversation about Hermes, bags, jewelry, and both of us admitting we’d love a Kelly but lamenting that it won’t be easy. Definitely added some fun to an otherwise not great morning!

I love starting conversation with other Hermes owners @MacawGuy - isn’t it great fun?
I usually find Kelly and picotin owners tne friendliest. ( mini Kelly owners are a different category, that sometimes look up themselves when you try to talk to them. ;) ) Evie owners usually super friendly too. Vintage owners are the best though- I sometimes want to invite them round for lunch. 😃

This is interesting. I used to get excited when meeting fellow owners but two incidents stopped me from making compliments or comments:
1. I swim in public pool and we don’t have dedicated, secured lockers. So we just hang our bags on hooks in the changing room. I complimented a lady with a mini Evie there and she PROMPTLY hid her bag behind her jacket
2. As I get closer to compliment someone on their bag, I realize it’s fake. It makes me think: what if I go ahead and compliment? Would that make the person uncomfortable?

Once I was in Asia, I went up the elevator and a lady carrying a B was on the other side, going down. Instead of smiling knowingly, she gave me side eyes and looked me up and down. I was too slow to mimic her

I stare and stalk instead of initiating conversations nowadays  My experience is clearly not as positive.

Hope you are okay @MacawGuy

I don’t really strike up conversations in public anymore. But, I might if in a closed environment like an office or gallery :)

I'm with you. I have had too many people photograph my bag surreptitiously (I am always afraid I will end up in Wildlife, I think I did once) or stare rudely. If you want to stare because you like the bag, give a compliment instead, and if you want to photograph me or my bag DEFINITELY say hello (or be extra good at sneaky photos).

I have also stopped complimenting others' bags as most often the response is snobby (I do not think I "fit the profile" LOL). Once in a while I will still say "I love your bag", but only if I am carrying a bag at least as nice ;)

+2 @tinkerbell68  . I rarely if ever say anything in public and then only if I’m carrying H as well. I complimented a fellow passenger on her MK on a flight recently, but I wouldn’t have done so had I not been carrying my K Flat and had I not hoped to learn what shade of green it was (I suggested Malachite and she wasn’t sure but thought so too).
