Thanks so much for the info! I spent between 10-15K with my home SA in 2023 and got an offer for a mini constance (which was not something on my wishlist and I did not accept) and a mini Evie (which was on my wishlist and I accepted). I think my home store is in a very competitive area. If I by chance get offered some non-quota bags (looking for Pico 18, mini lindy) in HK should I take them or keep waiting at home? I'm not planning to buy any big ticket non-bag items in HK.
If you get bag offers that you want, it seems like the price difference is negligible so I’d buy them. However, I would advise against spending money on bait items on the hunt for bags and would rather suggest to keep all that spending on your home profile.

Note: when a response cautions not to do x,y,z, for example, ask for lower declared value, it may not be intended as any kind of judgment, but rather a general caution, written not just to the instant query but also to anyone reading the public thread. Most of those who answer, have answered the same questions many times before, and are trying to be as comprehensive as possible. It is disheartening (even if a particular comment is not directed at me personally) to read criticism of a post as judgmental or presuming. I am not directing this statement at any one poster in this thread, as I’ve found this issue recently on other threads, namely NY shopping thread and unpopular opinions.
I hope it’s ok to drag the quote to a more 'chatty' place.

Thanks for saying this outloud @880 , eloquently too I might add. My fear is that experienced posters would refrain from sharing experiences and it would be a loss to all of us.
Additional thanks and appreciation to those who persistently try and share :ty:

Yes, this is essentially a community of strangers, none of whom has any particular obligation to share any of their expertise, and I have learnt a huge amount from those people who do generously share their knowledge - far more than I’ve ever learnt from a SA!

I mean, forget dream bags - my dream is to see the real holy grail - The Spreadsheet! @r luvs h

At the risk of overlooking someone who has patiently answered my questions (for which apologies) I’m particularly shouting out @acrowcounted @880 @papertiger @r luvs h and @QuelleFromage for being so generous with their knowledge here, not to mention the wonderful people like @Bdbunny, @nashpoo @haute okole and countless others who generously share pics of the superb bags in their collections, educating us all. Thank you! :flowers:

Couldn’t have said this better, thanks!

This is going to be completely unfair and you will probably feel attacked but if your only interactions with an SA have been a sale that was then returned (plus spending a bunch of time unsuccessfully finding a replacement) I would guess that an SA might assume that you are more trouble as a client than you are worth. Again, not fair probably but SAs have limited minutes at work and more shoppers than they can handle currently. I would just go in to the store and ask for him and if he's not there, try fresh with someone else.

You said it!!!! I'm an SA from a French maison brand with a high volume of following and clients, and I have to be honest, it is quite off putting when clients interact to me only to return an item they didn't even bought from me, or contact me out of the blue to have something repaired after ignoring me for months. Please try not to call your SA to return what you decided to buy online, because that would be like calling your partner complaining an itch because you cannot help fool around with someone else. You can follow? Your SA is your wife, do not go cheating. :)

I have posted my question in the maintaining relationship thread but it was moved to Lisbon which i do not think is the right spot for it. That chat is inactive and I think I am looking for guidance based on overall experience of broader community. I will try posting it here as I am assuming this is to talk about anything Hermes. Here it is:
Hermes gurus, I will be in Portugal next month. How competitive is it? My SA here encouraged me to stop by and ask and even to mention her name to facilitate conversation. She doesn’t know anyone there but said it would show I am a regular. I don’t want to prespend just in case as I prefer to shop with my SA but would be willing to make a sizable purchase as a “thank you” if in fact offered a bag. I guess my question is about both strategy and well as feasibility. I know there are random posts about people being super lucky but that is not a strategy. I am after a really light color MK or K25.

MK would be difficult. The best thing is just to ask if it would be possible to get a K25. I do know most stores try to accommodate the locals first.

I was watching someone on youtube reveal something like this, but bigger. it's insanely gorgeous. congrats on your new bag

Here's a video on aizome if you haven't seen it:

I have a few t-shirts from Japan, dyed in aizome, from a company called Blue Blue Japan. they're my favorite

Just wanted to drag this to the chat thread bc that video is super cool. Didn’t know about the aizome dye manufacturing process and the benefits. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if the birkin will be flame retardant….
