I actually did a test run with a Celine cabas tote I own which is in a bright orange with cerise wide border to see if the orange worked with my wardrobe (having made two expensive mistakes previously buying a Celine classic box bag and the 'edge' another Phoebe designed bag both in beautiful deep dark red that I wrongly assumed would work with everything but oddly only looked good when I was clad in all black!).
The Orange works with Olive Greens, greys, blues, browns and as a color pop with black or cream/beige.
It also looks great with 60's and 70's style bold prints (think Gucci under AM) as a good clash...
Honestly I find it a better neutral than my gold bag which sounds like an odd statement but I really find it incredibly versatile.
Incidentally, I live in the Uk and I find Orange also looks great on a grey dull day in a way that red just does not.
Thanks for your thoughtful post. Funny that you mention gold as a sub-optimal neutral; it’s a color I like in theory but it really has never worked for me. Your observation about orange being easier has me feeling more optimistic. Perhaps I’ll practice by swanning around the house with an H shopping bag in tow and see what I think  Thanks again!:flowers:

Am taking notes on the use of Orange
@textilegirl, gold only works during certain decades of my life. Give it ten years lol

In addition to the orange K28, I also have a gold B30 which is my other surprise neutral that I thought I’d hate and yet…the manager of my local boutique apparently prefers darker neutrals (perhaps to match our dreary grey skies) and my dream of a bright pop bag or a B30 in Craie may remain just that. So when my SA offered me a B30 in Gold, I was open. It also turns out to be a useful neutral. Ready to branch out to a pop ;)

I think it has something to do with the leather that it was stamped onto. First photo is epsom, which is vert stiff and rigid. Second photo is Togo, which is soft and supple. Could also be how hard the craftsman pressed the stamp into the leather.

Hi there! Looking for some opinions! I currently have a super well loved pair of black Orans. Thinking it’s time for a second pair. I am considering either a gold pair or a denim pair.
I would most likely wear the Orans casually on the weekends.
What are your thoughts which color you would recommend for me- gold or denim? Thanks for your opinions!

I personally think denim goes with more. I would not feel like I need to match denim to anything, including a bag but gold would require some level of coordination. I also think denim is more casual than gold. So if you want a little more of a preppy look, leather is better. I hope this helps

I have been toying with the thought of getting a vintage bag in my birth year and found a micro Kelly in excellent condition. I love the thought of obtaining a style that is not currently available and I love small accessories (I won't pretend to call it a bag at this size lol). I'm one of those people that wear a Constance Slim with a strap and have no issues with the size, for example.

The price tag on this 30+ year old bag, however, is steep. As my husband said, "you could get two or three new bags for the price!" type of steep.

This bag does make my heart sing, but is the price tag justifiable for a used bag? Would love to hear others' opinions. Maybe I'm just looking for someone to talk me out of this, hah.

can’t go wrong with either. Are they both available in your size? If not I’d go with the one that’s Available. Personally I’d go with gold bc it goes with everything. I feel like the denim won’t go as well with dress pants. It looks best with white and shorts or skirts imo so I feel gold is just much easier

I feel your ambivalence @ilikeshinybags!!! The bag clearly makes you very happy, but that practical “2 or 3 bags for the price side” creeps in. (either from us or our loved ones or someone here :P ). For me, the only person that can answer the question “is it worth it?” is each one of us for ourselves. Oh, and if you REALLY are looking for someone to talk you out of this, you know the tpf H forum is not the place to come, as most all of us are shameless enablers 😀- maybe go to a financial planner’s forum instead? 😆😆😆

My metrics include at this point in life after the pandemic and unrest and scary world events, is to really think about what makes me happy, is affordable (to me) and will I love it. It also depends on spending on other things like travel or dining out or house items, and other practical considerations, etc. I know some use the cost per wear metric, but I’m less about that for some pieces I have, than does it bring me joy and will I use it at least some. I also display my bags and scarves so even if I’m not wearing or using I get to enjoy seeing them. If the answer is yes, and my other questions are answered, I have often gone for it! Truly I think all of us have our “thing” or “things ” and why not? Life is short and unpredictable so I’m a big proponent of having what we love if we can.

Don’t know if this helped, but I hope so. Let us know what you decide and I would love to see it if it becomes yours!!! 🌺

I appreciate you so much @DrTr!! I think I already knew I would purchase the bag the second I saw it over a video call with the selling company 😆 The reassurance of knowing others feel the the same way about having what you love is really helpful. We do only have one life to live out to our fullest. I know I would wear this tiny little bag daily and it would spark a lot of joy.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet officially but I will definitely keep you posted if (when) it happens!

Thank you ❤️ I can’t wait to see it!! We often do know the minute we see “the one” and have to then logic ourselves into it. How wonderful you would wear it every day and feel joyful. Yes, please keep us posted!!
