I tried searching for the answer to this question but the question has a lot of elements to it and I didn’t find much.

Question is around eBay and when you see the same pics of something listed from different sellers. This tends to make me extremely nervous - photo theft and what not. But when several of the sellers have hundreds of fully positive reviews … could it be that there’s like a central organization with multiple accounts?

In this case the item is a gavroche. Let me know if there’s a specific thread where I should direct this question.

hi which one more durable GHW or PHW ?
as far as i knew PHW is more durable because it safer to tarnishing
while GHW could tarnish rather easier than PHW ?
is that true ?
I have had at least two kelly bags with tarnished phw, so I think ghw may be more durable. Either way, Hermes will replace the hw with the same color metal as the original hw. But, it will take many months, relatively nominal cost, but you can check repair thread for details. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/hermes-repair-refurbish-policy-official-spa-thread.7303/page-192
Just my experience.

@Jereni, not sure if this answers your question, but for Japanese resellers, sometimes the same bag is listed with several Vendors. If I like the bag, I simply pick one to purchase from. I do think they are the same pics though.

hi thank you for the replies,as for the PHW the tarnishing makes the bright polished silver into duller shade of silver? can it be repaired by jeweller cloth ?
and for the GHW have you experienced any tarnishing ? As in the colour started turning red/has dark spots ? and if so can it be repaired by polishing cloth as well ? cheers

No and no. Perhaps I’m using the term tarnish in a different way. I mean that the phw itself wears down to expose underlying gold. At least in my case.

No. However, you might want to check the Singapore H thread where there was some discussion about hw discoloration
due to the humidity in Singapore

when I use a tarnish cloth, it is to polish my sterling silverware not bag hardware. I have read of TPFers using a type of polish cloth in the fine jewelry sections of TPF, but I do not recall the context or particular thread. you can try the search button, top right, magnifying glass icon

ETA: to clarify, your original question was whether PHW was safer or more durable bc it is less likely to tarnish.

My personal experience has been that PHW is not safer, but not bc of tarnish, but rather bc the silver coat has worn down.
As far as I know, a polishing cloth can remove tarnish, but not replace palladium coating that has worn off.

@baglover789 , I don’t know. This is a vintage box bag that I purchased in immaculate condition bc I wanted the color, a gray blue. I believe circa 2004 or 2007 or thereabouts. In both this bag and the other item currently at spa (actually a box kelly longue wallet), the phw seemed to fade overnight. . . That is to say, I simply noticed one time when it came out of the closet. But, neither of these items were used frequently. I rotate through a number of bags and these two were not worn in at least 1.5 years?

Hi if i may know how long does it take from the PHW hardware to wear down until it exposes the metal under it ? can it be restored without changing the hardware ? cheers

I mean I think it’s from 2004 or 2007. I purchased it in perfect resale condition three years ago. No, Hermes has suggested changing the hw. I have one item currently with H spa for this change of HW and will send this one in when I feel like it. It’s not. Big deal, but it takes time. Although these bags are expensive, they do require maintenance. Check on the spa thread on the link I provided above for more details pls

Fascinating article in the NY Times today. And no, I failed the quiz in the middle completely...2/5. EVEN MISSED THE BIRKIN! SHAME SHAME!

I really dislike these kinds of articles, which seem to me to be thinly-veiled attempts to normalise buying superfakes and justify supporting the counterfeit industry.

Thanks for sharing anyway, I really feel I made the right choice to cut my online subscription to the NYT several years ago (I’m not in the US but I used to visit for work and loved reading the NYT).
