I got Aigle riding boots FINALLY! I've been wanting a pair of flat boots / riding boots for yonks and of course, me being big foot size 43 couldn't get anything in my size :pout:

Then I saw Lauren Conrad wear Aigle dressage boots (same as the boots I got, except they are all black whereas mine have brown tops).

Here's LC wearing them:

So I couldn't get the all black which are the Aigle dressage boots  The next best thing was the exact same pair with brown at the top (the Aigle jumping boots).

Here they are!

And I could get them in a 43 since they do all the big sizes since they are horsey boots!!! :yahoo: And then see that timber yoke there beside the boots? That's to put your foot in when you've the boot on to take it off! I thought it was the coolest gadget ever in the shop! Never even knew that existed, tiz amazing!!!

Right so I bought them in a horsey saddlery shop right ... the men working there ask me where am I going jumping with the boots? :shame: I was like .... errr actually, it's because I can't get normal boots to fit me, I don't even ride a horse!! :shucks: They are just for normal wear! But they were very understanding of my big foot size :D So I wasn't as mortified as I thought I would be.

Anyway ... here is where it gets funny.

So I'm wearing my Evelyne right? Totally forget that Hermès is famous for its saddles ... I had the Evelyne on crossbody so just had it up on the counter to take my purse out (it was still on me though). Next thing this happens:

Man: Oh my god, is that a Hermès bag!??!
Me: Err yeah ..... (completely in shock that anybody would recognise the giant H on it)
Man: Is it real!??!?!
Me: Yeah ...
Man: Oh my god, I hope you don't mind, this isn't some strange thing or anything, BUT CAN I TOUCH IT!!!!!!!!
Me: Err ok .... (still in shock that anybody would even recognise it).

And so he has a feel of the clemence leather of the bag, and he's saying it's amazing, and the quality is so good. And you know Hermès only use the best leathers, and sure why would you buy a heap of junk cheap handbag that'll fall apart real quick when you can have a Hermès bag that will last forever?

And then he's like can I see it properly! So I turned it to the side so he could see the side, and showed him the top of the bag so he could see the top of the interior. All the while he's in awe of it!!!!!

I was just speechless! Then he's like "right come over now and I show you this saddle, and we compare it to your bag". So we had to feel the leather on the saddle and then the Evelyne, and he's like Hermès is the best.

I said jees, I'm in shock you recognised it - nobody ever does! And he said well Hermès are famous for their saddles, and I work in a saddlery!!

I didn't know whether to take it all as a compliment or feel a bit weirded out that my bag got touched but I think I was just in shock that someone actually recognised it. I mean nobody ever notices it!!!!! It's completely under the radar.

You can just imagine now the shock of it all! And now I'm off to buy some skinny jeans to go with my new boots. So I'll be back later :hugs:

Avril- your new boots are gorgeous! Congrats on finally finding a pair in your size. I know you've been looking for awhile.

I call that wood thingy a bootjack. What does everyone else call it?

Yup, it's a bootjack. If the boots are snug, you can also get boot hooks to help pull them on (can't do that with the Kelly boots, dangit). Those boots are fantastic, Avril!! How cool that the guy recognized your bag!

Congratulations on the gorgeous boots! All saddlers (is that a word?) know about Hermes. When I took my Chanel boots into my saddlery, I saw very similar boots, maybe even the same that you got. I love two tone. Very classy, and horsey (in a good, classic way!) The problem I have with my feet is that they are always too narrow for boots, and somehow, with extra socks, an orthotic and sheer will, those babies fit my feet and now my below-knee muffin tops.

The veterinary nurse just called and said Charley was done. They didn't have to extract any teeth, but one root of a 3-root molar was "yucky" so he has to take antibiotics an extra week. She said he did fine and he is very sweet, but his poor permanently stained brown teeth are still brown.

Shoe horn helps you put your shoes/boots on. The notch on a bootjack fits into the ankle of your boot and you step on the end of it to lever the boot off your leg/foot.

Oh, that's what I need for a pair of short boots that have elastic only. They look like men's boots, but I think I broke the back (heel) when I try to get into one of them. DH helps me. I need me one of those jacks. I'll bet they have them at the saddle shop.
Thanks, purse!!
I just read a post from Hong Kong and they are already starting to celebrate the new year because it is tomorrow there. I have never quite grasped that concept.

It must be take a pet to a vet day! Today Fig heads back to see the specialist. Which reminds me, I'd better pack the sprays I've been using on her so he can see what I'm doing to her!

Stayed up watching the BBC "Pride & Prejudice" mini-series. Stoopid ATG! Now I'm all sleepy...but, happy. I love that series!
