Hi peeps!!! :hugs:

BBL - sending vibes to Charley for the vet visit :hugs:

Cakey - sending vibes to you and DH for migraine to go away, that sucks! It must be so sore  :hugs:

Hi purse, restricter, beachtime and Mree!!! :hugs:

Can't believe there's only today and tomorrow left of 2010, the year has flown by.

Wouldn't Herself love a trip to Neimans or H? She's so pretty and elegant, sure to be a hit with all the staff! People take their teeny little teacup poodles shopping, so what objection could they have to Coco, really?

Oh, she has an open invitation. She would have to be in the car a very long time and there is no way that could end well. I would so love to be able to walk two very well-groomed and well-behaved standard poodles along Madison Avenue, looking very elegant (the dogs, not me; I could never be elegant.) I could start with an easy trip to Nordstrom.

Hi everyone,

I did have a long post, but I lost it when my computer froze.

FIL is still in the hospital and is not doing well, and let's leave it at that. Lots of difficult times to come on that front. I did not bring up the bag. Definitely not the time.

restricter, glad to hear that Winky put on some weight.

Cakey, I am glad you are almost home. What an awful drive. Do you do it in one fell swoop?!!! Yikes.

You know BBL, we are going to be scarf twins. I want all three of the ones you just picked. I didn't buy anything at the store because I had significant gift cards from Neimans that were burning a hole in my pocket. Hope the vet visit with Charley goes well.

Mindi (((Hugs)))

Purse, Glad you had a great b-day.

EB, I looked at the scarves last night before I went to bed. I read the Mots de Soie scarf. It's fabulous. All sorts of English and French descriptions of silk. You know how I love words, letters and typefaces. I'm in heaven. We shoot some photos later. The S/S collection is lovely. My SA showed me the Kelly Relax. Ugh. I think Charley or Coco could live in there.
I'm flattered that we will be scarf twins. Does Sara have the scarves at NM at Tysons?

BBL, No the Tysons Neimans pickings were pretty slim. So I went over to Chevy Chase where I had more luck.

I should have another $700-800 gift card coming in the coming months. So, I'll pick up the scarves then.

I think that all of the H scarf counters are being phased out of the NM stores except CC. I forgot. I haven't been to Neiman in so long. We had lunch at the Daily Grille yesterday, walked through the store to get the car (DH dropped me at the restaurant entrance.) But, the sales couldn't tempt me upstairs to eskandar or to see Sara. We had to go across Route 7 to wait forever for our SA and her non-buying client.

Here's a word to the wise about checking your work e-mail when it isn't expected: don't do it.

I foolishly checked mine and found a lengthy message from a former colleague who is working as a highly paid partner at a law firm. However, Mr. Highly Paid needs me to answer his client's question. Maybe it's me, but I'd be ashamed to take a job like that and have to ask someone who doesn't work for me for help to do it.

At this point, I'm tempted to help him for a piece of his hourly rate.

restricter,

Looking at this from another side of my 2¢.

Give MHP the advice and view it as building bridges. Can this person help you in the future? Move to another firm, gain clients, etc...

Perhaps this would be better.

Countdown to Having My House Back. Guests leave this afternoon for the city, where they will stay at our little apartment overnight because their flight tomorrow is really, really early. A fact about which they have complained. There has also been a little griping (not too much, fortunately) about flying on New Year's Eve and therefore having to forego celebrations. And the family members whom DH got on a train so they could arrive home yesterday also moaned about how looooong the trip was, and how much more exhausting than a flight (which they couldn't get anyway, as everything is sold out for days to come). I am not understanding this. DH and I are driving people to stations, giving them keys to our living spaces and vehicles, helping to haul luggage, paying for car service to take everyone hither and yon. We have helped some family members pay their travel expenses. We have made numerous calls and used our credit card travel concierge to investigate flight options for family members. Still there are complaints. Um, people? There are folks who have been sleeping on cots at the airport for days. Well, all I can do is use this experience as guidance for my own behavior next time DH and I are inconvenienced on a trip.

Time to do the happy dance and sing...
They're gone, they're gone, Happy happy happy, My house is my own once again. I will even be happy to have HenHen eat salad and poop wherever he pleases. Alone again in my own house. I used to do this after my (sadly now permanently departed) in-laws would leave after a lovely visit. Happy, happy sunshine and daisies, poodles and chihuahuas and Frito dogs and Mucinex and vodka, and rainbows. All good things. Lesson to be learned here: Get a hotel room for the out-of-towners. All of them.
