That’s disappointing to hear - I would have thought London should have a quota of the big bags ( birkin/ Kelly). I hope things change - maybe the wish list is a distraction. The SAs make out that you will get lucky - but perhaps it’s a distraction to keep us all happy rather than a flat “no sorry we have none”

same here, no one I know had any luck since late 2019. Another proof that the UK is now completely isolated. A very sad reality indeed.

That is the only logical conclusion. When we hear "there's always a chance, we never know" means "99% there's none and so none for you". The 1% is well, considering, 'lucky' but again most of us know by now it's not the dictionary definition of luck. It's just how it is, what can you do.
London is only going to get worse, I won't be too surprised if hermes announces they might be closing some stores in London. 95% of the clientele is foreign tourists. They are not coming back, for the obvious reason, there's no VAT refund anymore. UK price is around 1.3 more expensive to shop than the rest of the Europe hence no reason for anyone to select London for their next shopping holiday. By the end of the day, it's just business, makes no sense for Hermes Paris to send stocks here which is of course devastating news for everyone who are based in the UK.

Whoa this strikes me as extreme. London is London. It will continue to be a world capital and there will always be tourism here. We may be in a temporary lull, but the stores always prioritised local clientele for the bags, and given the culture, I don’t see the Arab / Indian/ Russian etc tourists suddenly simmering in Paris or Italy.
I was fortunate to get a kelly 25 late last year. Stock may be low for now but esp if the price is higher in London, HQ would certainly want to send bags here when they can

I certainly do hope London remains a world capital, the economy has shrunk by an unprecedented level of 16%, I guess this year will tell if things can get back on track or not.
I'm purely relying on figures and it looks London has lost around £5.6 billion last year in luxury retail and there is no reassuring signs of recovery as of yet. Yes of course, the tourists are not pouring in yet because of Covid but once this all really settles (although no one knows that for sure) down for good, objectively when only considering luxury shopping, other destinations seems to be more attractive. But if they really do prioritise local clientele, that's certainly an advantage who are based in the UK especially now when travelling is extremely restricted.

I don't agree at all with the pessimism around here...yes London had big losses, as any other big capital. Looking at the prospects made by experts, London/UK will be one of the economies to bounce back quicker. 2021 will be a tough year for business, but the same can be applied to any other nation unfortunately. There is no way Hermes will be dismissive towards London, and I highly doubt they will close any store (just look at the cues at the stores since the lockdown was lifted).

In regards to quota bags, 2020/2021 have been very sweet to me, and I'm somehow new to Hermes. My last quota bag was offered back in February, my neighbour and friend got theirs as well. I also got the Carlota clogs that seem to be sold out everywhere and my size is one of the most popular...

I am certainly looking forward to when I can visit UK and London again. We have only one store here in Sweden and you have several in one city. Combined your stores must recieve so much more inventory than our single store. So for now we can only asume the low stock level is covid and not Brexit related. After all, your stores cater to a much larger population.

Besides, I am looking forward to seeing some tpf friends again.

I have to break the pessimism in this thread. I have been offered a B this year
and it is not all doom and gloom here in London

I think the UK stores are slowly receiving their stock and they will make their clients happy
Exactly! I missed most of this discussion, but as a Londoner, rest assured we are all alive & kicking. I was offered a Kelly at the end of the lockdown and visited only last week.
Hermes generally produces limited quantities in almost everything! It’s the nature of what they do: high quality, hand finished items. That’s why we love them!
