Thank you so much freddiemac! I was leaning toward New Bond Street anyway, and am hoping to at least go on a weekday to avoid Saturday crowds. Unfortunately I probably can't go at opening time as we have tickets for various tourist sites in the mornings each of the 3 days. I'll make it work somehow...where there's a will there's a way!!

No trouble at all, sounds like you have a plan.

The NBS SA’s are lovely, but are sometimes a little rushed off their feet, so please don’t take any initial stand-offishnous personally.

Have a wonderful trip and let us know how you get on.

I’d personally avoid Harrods like the plague. Over crowed and cramped. Never had a really pleasant experience there. Royal Exchange in the city is a little gem with a nice staff including the SM. NBS can be a mixed bunch especially on Saturdays when the store is busy but the SAs are usually fine. When shopping for scarves, CP has my votes. Might not have the most extensive selection but the SAs are the sweetest of all. NBS & CP both open on Sundays. Since this is a fairly new thing for the latter, the store is usually very nice and quite on that day. For RE, it’s Monday to Friday only.

Safe travels, dear Bova! I recommend Cadogan Place and Harrods, enjoy the trip!
Thank you my friend croisette! I am looking forward to the trip!

Thanks again Freddiemac!

Thank you for your added insight LostinLondon! I can’t wait to be there!

I share the shout out for RE: truly a gem, but as Lostinlondon points out - closed on Saturdays (and Sundays).

Will have to check out cadogan place next time I am in London. I have had good luck at NBS. I have gone there on a weekday late morning, and never too busy. Harrods was so busy I did not want to wait around.( actually DH did not want to wait, LOL)
Thank you scarf1. I will see where our sightseeing takes us and when we end up close to one of the boutiques. I just arrived and I absolutely love London!!

Thank you so much pjw5813!

Was in London and decided to pop by Harrods. It was a Thursday night, but H was swamped. When I've visited in the past, they didn't have a formal waiting list, but this time they did. I wish they could tell you if an item is at least in stock or not before making you wait for a SA (assuming it isn't a coveted item). Not sure why, but some SAs were just standing around not assisting anyone even though there's a waitlist. I approached 1 and inquired about bag straps- he said he'd go check, but then he came back 10 minutes later with the lady with the waitlist iPad lol.

Waited another 15 minutes or so and got a SA who was able to check inventory on his phone. Disappeared for 10-15 minutes to find the item but came back empty handed because of a mistake in the system. Asked if I'm looking for anything specific, but I'm not really, so I decided to ask (for fun) if they have any larger Cs in stock.

The display case had 1 and a birkin that said display only (ya right). I could tell by his hesitation that they definitely have something. He asked if I've ever bought anything from H in the UK, and I really couldn't recall because they all blur together. He had me enter my name into the phone so he could look up my account. Clearly I didn't make the cut, cuz he hesitated and gave me the spiel that they don't have anything, but I can come back next week and try again because they never know when they'll receive deliveries. I told him I know how it goes and thanks anyways.

So much H eye candy there, so it's fun to people watch while waiting, but damn it's crowded!

I bloody hate Harrods, always so packed! I also hate the Hermes store manager there. He's so assuming!

I have to agree! I had a scarf on hold, but my SA wasn’t in when I went to collect it, the rest of the staff weren’t in the least bit interested, didn’t look and told me they couldn’t help!!!

First and last purchases in that store.

Does anyone know what happened to the tall (with glasses) Italian leather specialist/SA at NBS?

I think I know who you mean (had his card but threw it away after being told he had left). There’s been quite a few departures amongst the managers/specialists from NBS recently (haven’t seen French Jean-Claude/Jean-Christophe- sorry, I am really bad with names- in ages). When I enquire, be it in NBS or CP, faces seem to close and I get the distinct feeling that there might be something more sinister to it than mere career move. Where did you read about it?

I read it in this thread actually (post #1545), someone said something about her SA being investigated (about the same time that this particular SA left). The french supervisor is still there - I like him!

Edited.

He is still there, he dealt with an online order issue I had; very helpful, I like him.

Harrods suffers from being a tourist attraction.

The trick with Harrods is to go in at the stroke of when it opens, for me Sunday mornings at 11:30 when it opens for browsing is good to head over to Hermes, the wait at this time is minimal. By 12:30 it is already a zoo!

This the best tip for all the London stores I think. The best way to be served is to arrive at the store as soon as it opens. I always email my SAs at Selfridges and NBS to check when will be their next morning shift ;)
