Same thinking. I also firmly believe that we should be able to buy what we want and sell or gift them away as we wish. Brand new or otherwise. But I do understand where they are coming from.

Also, while this is a fun purchase for us. To the SAs, it’s their livelihood. They may be asked to go if they are found to have sold to a reseller.

I would be so interested to read what a labor lawyer would say about this. I understand the basis of “at will” employment, but terminating an SA for doing their job of selling items would be so interesting to dig into. Hermes cannot dictate what a customer does or not do with their goods once purchased, so I don’t see recourse against an SA going very far.

My context is in Asia where there is no strong labor law protection.

Anyway, part of the SA job is to assess whether the customer is a reseller. It’s up to the SA to know the client and give justification to management when being questioned. I’m not sure about others but my SA did share with me management asked her if we could be potentially resellers before approving a desirable quota bag to us.

I imagine that the potentially career ending situations SAs are exposed to routinely are numerous and colorful—Including yes, customers who lie to them and are actually resellers flipping bags, but also resellers with more nefarious purposes like counterfeiting and money-laundering, as well as every other sort of crazy story-teller, briber, and shady schemer one might possibly imagine.

Not to mention spoiled 18 year old influencers, angry couples, demanding celebrities, clueless executives who can’t hear the word no, and the tantrum-throwing nouveau riche—all of whom will air their grievances on Youtube at the drop of a hat. Going to work must feel like swimming through shark-infested waters.

Hi everyone, I bought an Hermes skirt last year but I don't really wear it so I'm considering selling it. I don't want to get flagged as a reseller for selling something I don't wear. Do you think it's risky to do try to sell this item? I am not a reseller but I'm just trying to clean out my closet a bit and I would rather someone who will wear the skirt to own and enjoy it than for it to sit in my closet. But I have a good relationship with my SA and love shopping at Hermes so I really dont want to get flagged as a reseller somehow. Thoughts?

You’re overthinking it. Sell it and let someone enjoy it.

If you sell to a company like TheRealReal, your name is not disclosed on the sale page.

i also would assume they would care more about resellers who flip BNIB bags than individuals who sell select RTW items a year plus old. TheRealReal has a lot of RTW. You should be ok.

Wow.. people already pawning off their gorgeous brand new sos :confused1: :frown:View attachment 5378814View attachment 5378815

Imagine the H account on Insta (or any other platform used for selling) would reply to these reseller post with something like „you accidentally posted your bag for sale. We look forward to seeing you in store again with your new exceptional bag“.

Given the rare amount of SO slots and specifications I guess H would be able to narrow it down/identify the people who ordered the SOs just so that they can resell it immediately for an insane premium.

Nevertheless, it’s nice to see what Rose Sakura combined with Nata in Chèvre looks like. @Notorious Pink was pretty close with her mock-ups

True. Hermès only targets true resellers and by that I mean people who buy with the only and systematic purpose to resell new and at outrageous prices. When I was at FSH last month a SA told me they are setting up a database enabling every boutique to have visibility on a client‘s purchases globally. I think it is a great idea because it improves quality of service and aims at preventing professional reselling.

It could only work if all purchases from all stores globally count towards a customer being offered quota bags. Otherwise, a client will have no incentive to put together all purchases on a single profile.
