Hey all, I want to ask, what is a "candy" birkin or Kelly? dunno what candy means...

To my knowledge a candy Birkin or Kelly is made from Epsom leather that is bicolor. My understanding is the color combination are pre set. There is a similar bag coming out in A/W 2013/2014 called a verso that is bicolor but made from Swift leather.

Im a newbie to the wonderful world of Hermes and this forum..but I love both!
Can anyone assit me in a Hermes question?
Has the hardware changed in the 2012 or 2013 models? Do they use diff zippers or placement of screws? I was told there have been some slight modifications?

Hi and welcome!

Typically, we don't discuss hardware and marks that relate to authenticity. It makes it easier for counterfeiters to pick up on and though it's a small thing, we prefer not to assist them!

The helpful links in the 2006 first posts to this thread no longer work. Can this information be found elsewhere?

Hey everyone! Recently I've gained a huge interest in buying the Hermes Birkin black Epsom 35cm with gold hardware. BIG problem, I have NO idea how to get offered one, or how to order one. My friend told me she had to spend 50-100k on the 'Hermes Lifestyle'(belts, blankets, dinnerware, house stuff) but I really can't justify spending that much to get a 12k dollar bag especially with me having two boys, imagine them breaking?!!!. I've always bought my Birkins through consignments. But now I've completely changed my mind with shopping at consignments. Any advice?!

A few questions:

How much did you have to spend to get your first Birkin?

Which store in California has the BEST stock?

How long did it take you to get am Epsom Birkin in after you ordered it?

Which SA do you recommend from any California boutique(mainly SF & BH only please)

Hi, I'm new and I wonder what would like to know if you guys would prefer HAC 32 or 35 birkin. I'm US size 8 / 10. 5'5".

I would prefer a B35 rather than an HAC due to the longer handles. The handles on the HAC is shorter so it is hard to pull up to carry on your arm but it is still a great in-between size between the 30 and 35.

Thank you chkpfbeliever for your comment. The above is a pristine condition 35 with Ardennes leather with encased A stamp. Asking for US$7,500. Any thoughts on the pricing? I know Ardennes is discontinued. For a 20 year old bag, is it a fair price? Thanks

Any time a 20-year-old bag is described as "pristine", I worry. I have seen it happen but only when the bag has not left its box.
Personally I think this is a little high for an older HAC, but if it is literally store new condition, and that is important to you, it's not crazy.

Hello! I am currently saving up for my first Hermes bag and I am torn between 4 colours (I love them all equally) it is black, gold, etain and ecorce that are my selection of colours. Are they very hard to come by? I am planning on trying my luck in Paris later this year. Further: I do not care about hardware colour as I love them equally, and for size, it's 28 or 32.

Hi there! As far as colors, three of your four colors are classic colors so they can be found currently in stores. Ecorse is a seasonal color from several years ago and may be rather difficult to locate. In Paris, obtaining the bag of your dreams comes down mostly to luck and available stock when you arrive. Good luck on your quest! I hope the H fairies grant you your special bag!
