Hermes 2002 Bag... love or hate?

This is not directly connected to the Roulis, but since I love the Roulis and it’s under-the-radar charm, I hope one of you owns or knows the 2002 and can compare it to the Roulis (or Constance for that matter). I did not find a single thread relating to this H-bag, so, if there is one, I apologize and would very much appreciate directions/a link :flowers: Thanks in advance for any input!
Perhaps @azukitea can do a comparison for you? I believe she has all 3 bags. :sos:

I received my beautiful 2002 size 20 today, which was also ordered online at H.com (more comfortable than going to the boutique these days) and had two surprises:
First, the bag is really amazing and I am impressed, how you can style this beauty with a parka and jeans as well as with an elegant dress and coat. I feel that this is a sign of really good design, if something like a bag or watch can elevate any outfit and goes with almost anything.
This said, my second surprise was less pleasant, as I discovered that the bag had some issues with the stitching in the central area around the clasp. It seems as if the thread became fuzzy (with fibers becoming detouched) during stitching and so the stitches look blurry. Unfortunately, the pictures do not really show this flaw, but IR it looked as if fibers from the felt had rubbed onto the stitching and on closer inspection I saw that the thread itself had become fuzzy. Also, the residue at the corners is not even.
I know, these bags are hand made and I assure you I do not suffer from OCD, but since this affects the center piece of the bag, it bothers me.

Has any of you had the same or a similar problem before. In the past, most of my H-bags were nearly perfect and I still try to figure out, what I will do (thinking of returning it, but fell deeply in love with this one)...
Thank you for any input, especially your experiences

the bag looks good on you, and I like the blue and gold contrast.
It is bleu nuit isn't it, which is a gorgeous colour

I love 2002 for its design and simplicity and the muted "circular" H

I cannot see issues of the stitches, but if it does bother you I would suggest to check with Hermes and see if they can do a replacement ? Because at thiese prices, I believe the customer must not have doubts and need to be 100% satisfied, otherwise this issue may stick with you and make the bag less enjoyable down the line...

I totally agree with azukitea. I love the design and this particular color and contrast suits you very well.
I also cannot see the problem in the pics unfortunately. The eye is seeing much more than a camera pic. If you aren't 100% satisfied you should do an exchange. :annoyed:

I've finally found one that's perfect, I'm so in love lol. It's also perfect for wearing it crossbody. Wearing it casually with for example with Rick Owens but also with elegant dresses etc.
It seems like the evercolored ones are more scratch resistent than the black evergrained ones. The black evergrained ones look like the leather is 'infused' with the color and the evercolor ones seem to have more like a colored coating on the leather.

Thank you, both, for your responses. I am so happy for you, Flowerlily, having read about your many disappointments with this bag and H.com.

I probably will opt for an exchange. However, I was curious if anybody knew this phenomenon of a frayed thread used for stitching. I heard of another case in 2020, where the strap - or rather the stitching of the strap - of a (new) Constance 18 looked like it had been used for ages.

I have another picture from the inside with the smooth leather, where the frayed thread is better visible for the camera.:shocked:6472CA6D-E58C-4658-AD26-9B3C10FDE0A7.jpeg

Probably this clarifies what I mean with „fuzzy“. It looks worse on the outside... though I am not able to capture it with my camera.

Thanks again...

Now I see what you mean! It doesn't look normal to me.
I've just checked mine and it's totally fuzz free, the thread is very wel defined and smooth, no fuzzy litte threads at all.

Although it doesn’t look as bad as my fuzzy C18 (that one was another level of fuzziness), it certainly does not look normal. It might also be my eyes but the stitching looks a bit off? I am sure the local Spa could look into this, but would probably also opt to ideally replace it for a new one. Will you take it into the store before sending it back to the online store?

I don't really see an issue but if it’s going to bother you, send it back. I recommend processing it as a return and then finding a new one in store somewhere. Exchanges with h. com on a specific and limited item like this may tie up your funds for an unacceptable timeframe, be a huge hassle, and may even result in your receiving this exact same bag a second time.

Actually, my thoughts were the same as Acrowcounted‘s: Asking for an exchange will probably take very long with the disadvantage of my money being parked at H.com. Therefore, I am planning to return it. And I am too lazy to bring it to the boutique

The uneven stitching was, by the way, what caught my eye first, although I could not really tell what was off. Then I saw the fluffy threads and learnt that it was not from the protective felt but the thread itself. And finally, I saw that on one edge (right one on the picture) the sealing resin is somewhat off. So all in all, I will not be happy with this specific bag. Anyway, this is not a Constance, so there should be plenty in the boutique and though I love the color (bleu nuit ), my heart is not set on it.

I am glad that it was not all in my head:blush:
Thank you all for your input and insights!

Just as a sort of update (and news for 2002 lovers who have not yet seen this color in this lovely bag): I found a different 2002 bag that after a lot of thinking and great input from another bag lover stole my heart. Madame Malachite in Evercolor with GHW gives a different vibe but als I made my heart sing...:loveeyes:View attachment 4864747
Lovely choice and wonderful bag ;)
