Thanks! I’m very happy with my 2002 so far. What a great present for yourself. Please post pics if you do get one !

Got the bag in black! I love the exterior pocket. My SA ordered it for me and it came perfectly sealed. It's my first H bag and I'm in love. I feel like I'll get a lot of use out of it.

Verdict: love.

I love the look of the 2002 more and more. I don’t wear shoulder bags but I’m seriously tempted to get one.

I do think the cost is excessive, but it’s H. It fits everything I want and it’s not heavy at all. For me, it’s a little short to be cross body and my SA said that’s how the French like it. I prefer it as a shoulder bag.

I've got 2 questions, hopefully someone is able to answer them:
Is the 2002-20 bag only available in Evergrain?
Evergrain scratches rather easily, how does the bag look after a while of using? Are the scratches annoying or does it give the bag some character?
TIA!
Yes and exotics. It's supple but i think it's not as vulnerable as swift (grainless)

The cost is definitely a deterrent. Maybe I’d try to get it in France. I tried it on and it is no way going to work crossbody on me. I’m too busty. It looked ridiculous. I like that if fits everything you need and isn’t heavy.

I'm short and it's too weird to do crossbody. It looks so sharp and it's low-key enough to carry without people realizing it's an H bag.

Disappointing story ahead about a black 2002-20 bag and H.com.
A while ago I purchased a black evergrain 2002 wallet from the H website. It arrived in perfect condition: uniform black leather without scratches and very easy to open and close.
Recently I wanted to add a big sis to little sis, so I purchased a black evergrain 2002-20 bag from the H website. The next day it arrived. I immediately noticed on the flap 3 scratches only visible when the light reflected on the leather, they were clearly man-made scratches and not a natural variation of the leather. I also noticed that the back leather part and the leather part with the closure attached was different from the flap leather. The flap leather was perfect, the other 2 parts were more irregular in color, call it something like veining like pattern. Also the paper around the bag had a hole in it and the interior zipper was halfway open. So probably a used bag? I shipped it back for an exchange.
The second bag arrived. The leather was perfect, the leather was uniform and the color was a deeper black than the previous one. It looked like a brand-new bag. But then I tried to open/close it and it was a major struggle. Also when the bag was closed the flap wasn’t convex like it should be but concave. There was clearly some tension on the flap when closed that shouldn’t be there. On closer inspection it seemed that a little plastic part on the end of the flap was protruding and probably the cause of the concave shape and the great difficulty opening and closing the bag. I called the online customer service, they were sorry and suggested another exchange.
The third bag arrived. Because I didn’t have much faith anymore in receiving a perfect bag and a bit wary that maybe I would be accused of mistreating the bag I filmed the opening of the package. And again, just like the first bag this bag also had some man-made scratched when the light reflected on the leather and also the closure wasn’t easy to open/close. There was a small square dent on top of the bag. Again called the online customer service and they wanted to see the video I made. She would call me back at 5 pm, but at 6 pm nobody from H.com had tried to call me, no missed calls so I called back. She said she had called several times, but I don’t think that’s correct. She blamed the courier for the scratches, but I don’t think that’s the real cause because the package was very well packed, there wasn’t anything that could have scratched the leather. I suggested a store credit of 200 euro for all the hassle I went through., the price of the bag had gone up with 200 euros, but she didn’t want to compensate me in any way. I was happy I purchased a perfect 2002 wallet earlier and therefore knew how a new bag should like and could compare, also the second bag had perfect non-scratched leather. Otherwise I would have questioned myself I think. I know I myself will probably will be the cause of scratches when using the bag, but those will be my scratches and not someone elses. I still very much like the bag and will therefore look in store for the perfect bag, well if a perfect one exists.
Below are some images of the third bag with the flaws. Imagine it twice as bad in real life compared to the pics. The camera doesn’t pic up the flaws as good as the eye.

I had a similar experience with a Verrou last year (1st bag had clearly been used, the 2nd had visible and clear defects). After lots of back and forth with CS I was told that all of my orders would be given special attention from now on and bags would be closely inspected before being sent to me (would have expected this to be the usual procedure?). I then ordered a black Evergrain bag afterwards and they cancelled my order noting I would not have been happy with the leather which obviously had “natural“ scratches. Hence, I assume it had also been a return. Haven’t ordered anything online since then but especially with Evergrain I would recommend checking in store only as it shows scratches more easily than other leathers. I understand H might not be able to confiscate every returned bag as many buyers might be fine with some wear and tear from “trying on“ but one would at least expect some decent controls before sending returns to the next buyer. Very sorry for you and hope you may be able to find a 2002 in perfect condition. If you want to give the online store another chance, maybe Evercolor would be worth considering instead?

That really sucks, I'm sorry. Before I took the stickers off, I did struggle with the hardware and it was a bit of a learning curve, but after I learned, it wasn't bad at all. Evergrain isn't as scratch resistant as togo or epsom, I do have some minor scratches on my bag but it's not a dealbreaker for me (I'm careful with my bags but I don't baby them). I do love the sheen and softness of the leather, though. I also have it in the black w/ PHW and I still love it. It's sleek and modern and it goes with everything.

I hope everything gets sorted out for you--do you live near a store? You had mentioned trying at a store. I think most stores have them, even if it's not on display. I still think it's worth a shot, but evergreen leather will get scratched. I got mine at a store and it was sealed in a box, and it was perfect...but I did get a few scratches on it by trying to open/close it before I even left the store!

Update on my 2002 bag: It's only been 2 months since I got it but I still really enjoy it! It's too short to wear cross-body, but I can do it in a pinch. It's better as a shoulder bag. Modern and sleek, I use it as my evening bag (not that I've been going out much these days). The clasp is definitely easier to use than the H clasp of a Constance.

@Flowerlily , any updates with customer service on your bag?

I'm trying to get a flawless one through a local store. There was one available but the SA said it was not pristine. Visited two other stores but they didn't have one. My search continues, but I won't be surprised that I eventually can't find one and I think I'm fine with that after all I've been through.

That sucks, thank you for the update! I was just curious. That's a lot of effort and I agree, it might not be worth it. Mine was very pristine but I started getting scratches on it before I left the store with it. It's prone to scratches and the nature of the leather. I still love it though.

I know it's not the same bag, and I'm not sure this was already discussed, but would you consider the roulis bag or the constance bag?

You're welcome! I love the 2002 20 design. Maybe in the near future they will use a more scratch resistent leather. Hope so.
I'm not really into the roulis and the constance bag, the latter because of the very obvious H closure. I think I like the verrou mini, so will have a look at that one.

I think the colored 2002 20 bags come in evercolor leather, which is more scratch resistant. You're right, the 2002 is just so sleek. I forgot about the verrou mini! It's so pretty.
