Had no idea the 10% sale was coming up! Definitely going to buy it ... omg. Also learned that my local store doesn't carry sale items so I guess I'll have to buy it online, but wow! Excited.
Yup - its 60% off retail of $450 to $180, and with extra 10% off starting today it comes to $162 in cart. And there's also a cute nail polish quad gwp now. Go ahead and pull the trigger [emoji847]

Nothing haunts us like the things we do not buy [emoji162]

One last question before I make the purchase: I realized today the mini Rivington tote has a shoulder strap but the larger one doesn't. I've read a thread where some people added straps to bags that didn't have them, but those bags all had grommets/places to add a strap and the Rivington really ... doesn't. Has anybody ever tried using the chain for the clutch while it's still attached to the bag, as a sort of pseudo-strap? It sounds kind of silly to me, like it would ruin the aesthetics, but I'm thinking of using this as a serious professional work bag and I'm a little worried about having to carry it on my elbow all the time.

I haven't tried and wouldn't recommend it bc the clutch chain strap is super flimsy and wouldn't be able to support the weight of the whole bag. The large Rivington is already heavy on its own, not including any contents. And carrying the chain strap with the clutch attached puts it in a very awkward placement at the front center, and would make the whole thing top and back heavy [emoji107]

Could you wait and purchase one of the backpacks? They're convertible! If not, the larger rivington has a 6" drop which might be enough to get on your shoulder during desperate times?

Hi Guys, I'm totally new to Henri Bendel and while checking out the website I am liking a lot of their bags and SLG's.

I just ordered this full size Rivington, which seems like a great buy, especially with the additional 10% discount. I'm attaching the screenshots -- and the freebie nail polish isn't too shabby either! But the detachable clutch on the front is what sold me...I love that concept! My cart total was around $268, pre-tax.

I'll read some previous posts on here, as it sounds like many tPF'ers are already HB fans. I'd love to hear your opinions on this or any other Rivington models -- I'm excited to try something new -- i'm mostly a Coach devotee.

TIA, if you would share your HB experiences -- good or bad!

Screenshots below -- I included a closeup of the detachable clutch.

HOORAY! Welcome to the club
I think overall Henri Bendel is a really great brand for the price, especially on sale! They have such a wide variety of accessories (lots of designs and colors for every taste) and they have a real heritage story. I would say the quality is mid-range (probably similar to MK and non-1941 Coach), which is why I prefer to buy on sale (plus almost every style goes on sale anyway). I love the designs, really pretty and well thought out bags that are also super functional. I have three Henri Bendel bags (plus a packable backpack) all from the Jetsetter line, so they're all nylon and I don't own any leather bags like the one you ordered. Two of them have been heavily abused (one has been stuffed beyond reason, think textbooks AND laptop) and the other traveled with me for six months in Europe. Both only have slight, reasonable wear. My third one which has been used normally has no wear, especially since I just cleaned it. Overall, I think HB has great bags for the average modern woman who cannot/does not want to spend more than a couple hundred $$$ on a bag and is looking for something a little less ubiquitous than the classic MK/non-1941 Coach/Kate Spade/Tory Burch group :flowers:

@bellebellebelle19, I truly appreciate your feedback!! It's funny for me to see you over here, since I know you from the Coach threads! You've given me valuable (and positive) feedback here!

I know over the years (I lived in NY half of my adult life) HB has been an institution. Just a little trivia -- Andy Warhol cut his graphic design teeth by doing fashion illustrations for HB.

Anyway, their 'on sale' price range is right up my alley -- I'm not looking for (nor can I afford) the Premier designers, so the mid-range category seems to work for me. I'm totally impressed with their SLG's too...last week I got two cosmetic zippered bags (the coated fabric with colorful makeup prints on it, in two sizes) and two bag charms (one of the big Smileys and the one that spells out H-e-n-r-i, in small charms). They're big on whimsy, yay!

If you have any spare time, I'd love to see your HB items!

I will always love my Coach leather goodies, but my 'blind' loyalty to Coach (my first real designer brand) is wearing thin. I'm disillusioned by some of their lame marketing strategies and figure my money DOES have multiple options. I've had an extremely myopic view as 'Coach' being my 'go to' bag! What has Coach done for ME lately?

Eventually I'll expand my repertoire to even more brands, but 'baby steps' for now, haha...I'm easily overwhelmed!

Thx again for the nice welcome and sharing your HB experience -- their sales really ARE tempting!!

Hey everyone! I am new to the Bendel board:). I have a few of their handbag items (a small clutch and a glitter box) and an assortment of other stuffs, like earrings and some gift items for the family. Everything is lovely, although I find the clutch to be not very practical - it barely fits a phone and a few credit cards. Now, I've been lusting over their schoolbag in nine iron color for awhile now, and with combined discounts the cost is reasonable. Schoolbag owners - do you find it to be a good choice for a small bag? Does it feel cutesy or it still has enough timeless look to it, in your opinion, that it is suitable for a 30-something crowd? The last thing I want is a bag that is meant for youngins and looking like Im trying to catch up :D.

I'm over 30 and have a couple and I think it looks sophisticated and not at all cutesy. I think it depends on the outfit, the bag can be dressed up or casual. My issue with it is that the strap is not long enough for cross body....I'm tall...a lot of the small bags are an issue for me in that respect.

Thank you for the reply! I am also tall and definitely have reservations about the strap length not being enough for the crossbody :/. Do you find it comfortable to wear as a shoulder bag or is it a bit awkward?

The stores often have extra dust bags lying around and if the sales associate is friendly enough they'll probably give you one if you carry your bag in and say you lost the dust bag, or some similar excuse.

Back to this buyer though - if you included the dust bag in your listing description, I'd kick it back to her or escalate to eBay, advising that she didn't return the item in the same condition (condition being: with its dust bag), and have her send it to you at her expense or accept a partial refund deducting whatever reasonable amount. But I'm petty AF, especially if you said the buyer was rude. [emoji854]

Now I'm annoyed. I contacted the buyer after I issued to refund to see if she would send the dustbag back so I can save myself the trouble of trying to get an extra one. She said she would send it back but that was 3 weeks ago and she is not responding to email. So I'm going to be petty - I called eBay and they're going to contact her. Not sure it will get any results but I'm officially pissed off.
