Help with sapphire ring--heat or no heat

It is stunning. Is it a Robert Procop? Reminds me of his wonderful designs.
It’s not Procop. I own a few Procop pieces and love them. I had a local person design this based on another ring I had seen. Originally, I wanted to flip the stone pointy side up. But changesd my mind because I thought it would be too easy to chip.

it does go with a Procop bracelet I own. I feel like I’m at the Oscars when I wear both at the same time.

Hmmm... maybe get one of the used copies on amazon. I do not think they will reprint this book. I collect a lot of jewelry and gemstone books, and it is rare these small publications get a second printing.
So maybe grab a copy while you can still find it. It is definitely worth the read and the photos are great.

This book is from 2017, and as you know, Oscar Heyman, while gorgeous, is not popular. I personally think Oscar Heyman needs a better marketing team! They talk about the past too much.

Since you like Oscar Heyman, here are two other similar brands I like that major in colored gemstones:
HIGH JEWELRY – Bayco Jewels

Precious Color Rings | Jewelry | JBSTAR.COM

Lots of eye candy! It was fun chatting with you!
Love Bayco too. My ruby band I wear every day is Bayco.

I'm glad you mentioned this. Some women attempt to rationalize the purchase of an expensive piece of jewelry by saying it will be become a family heirloom. They are not taking into consideration that so much of jewelry is dictated by the whims of fashion and that the setting will likely be outdated by the time the piece is passed along or it just might not suit the family member's taste.
I could not agree more with you. I don't know your age, but in my case I have a dozen rings from grandmas and great-grandmas, which look very dated (from the 50's to the 80's). They're just out of fashion, and they make my fingers look like sausages. Wearing those is out of question, and they are too small and common to have any value.
I can often read the heirloom excuse on the H forum, and it makes me laugh a little. What if the daughter hates croc handbags...? What if, like I do, the person only has sons ?

I do know a couple of guys who have appreciated inheriting women’s jewellery because they’ve used it for engagement rings or significant presents for their partner. I suppose then you have implied the expectation that they are straight I guess though I do know some men who just keep jewellery around as eye candy for themselves too.

I don’t want to confuse things further but if you like blue stones you could also consider a topaz as they tend to be a bit cheaper for that vivid blue.

Swiss blue topaz is very close to cornflower blue sapphire and a lot more common. London blue is nice too.

I do get it if sapphires have a special meaning or you are a September girl. I love sapphires!

@Rockerchic I’m a CS lover too and for sapphires strictly unheated only... to me it’s a personal thing. There’s something magical about wearing a gem that has not been treated or tampered apart from cutting and polishing. Like when I wear the gems, I’m just amazed that nature can created such beautiful colors.

But I totally get why people will be fine with heated sapphires and agree that you should just go with what you love, heated or not.

Here are some of my blue sapphires. Personally I prefer lighter cornflower tones. From the pic you shared it looks like you prefer darker stones? Just be careful and make sure that the stone looks blue (and not sometimes black) in any light. You should ask for pics/video of the stone in different lighting, and that the stone has a certificate from a decent lab.

Love them all!! I want the one on your middle finger on the top!! .what are the specs if you don't mind?
I too love the lighter cornflower blue--as I have become more familiar with sapphires through my searches, I am very much drawn to the color verus the royal blue. I am having such a hard time finding one like that. I am such a novice! If you have any suggested place to look, please let me know.

Hi! That’s a 5 ct Sri Lankan sapphire. I can’t remember how many ct the star sapphire below is but the other ovals are all around 3 ct. I’ve mostly gotten them in person but there are many IG sellers from Sri Lanka now selling online.

Thanks ladies. I love blue sapphires and to me each stone have their beauty... as for that 5 ct wonky sapphire. I just fell for it when I saw it in person... it sort of went against what I mentally had in mind when I was looking for a sapphire (perfect cut, silky, etc) but I suppose it’s a type of “fate” or affinity with the stone if it makes sense? I always hear that for jadeite the stone looks for it’s own owner and I think maybe it applies for other stones too.

Anyway a few more pics of the stone in different lighting:

I wear this ring often and because it’s temperamental so it’s kind of fun to wear and see how it looks in different lighting.
