Thank you! I have a Star129, which GOG also sells. The only downer with that is that getting a stone with a clarity better than SI1 is damn near impossible :(

Mine is an H, btw.

I would tell Jon and Sarah to keep an eye out for your "specs" and requirements. You are in kind of a sweet spot though, and they WILL go fast bec you and about a million others are looking.

Lec - I understand your pain. We have been searching since December and I'm highly discouraged with the whole process and almost want to do what it takes to make it go away! I've also paid a few visits to tiffanys just to be done with it but the bf really like that he picked my setting from Tacori so we sticking to it!

I'm actually thinking about dropping the clarity and getting an si1 because each vs level stone brought in for me recently hasn't tested well in cut or had their own black inclusions like the si1 stones.

Good luck searching! You're not alone! Who knew this would be so hard!

ame- no wonder the cut on yours is so unique, it really does look like stars :) Wow your H looks icey white..hm...something to think about...or is it just that white because of the cut? But yeah, I think what I like is also the "sweet spot" for lot of other people too. Because, I kid you not, a relatively decent stone pops up, and I don't even have time to post to ask for other peoples opinion and it's been put on hold already. Hopefully after Valentines then it gets less crazy.

whoops - Your setting is sooo pretty, it's the 2620 right? I wouldn't mind getting an Si1 either as long as I know that it faces up clear, because my setting basically will cover all the sides of the stone. It's just really tricky to find an eye-clean Si1. Tested well? Do you mean getting the 0 on the AGS rating?

Yes! 2620 round without the side pave in platinum. My bf fell in love eith it at the store so anything else is not going to happen. Which im glad because it is perfect! Now the diamond, silly me always thought the setting would be harder.

GOG had stones come in and we were aiming for true hearts and arrows but of the three, none came out as true hearts and arrows. They also were not as well cut and some had black inclusions even at a vs level. I was so disappointed!

I really hate that the GIA and AGS don't list ANY black inclusion automatically as SI.

Mine is just cut to maximize light return in a different manner than a regular H&A round. The smaller facets return at more angles so it appears to reflect white light more than normal. It also shoots rainbows differently. More smaller sparkles than large flashes. It's definitely a different pattern than normal. Here's a link to when I first got this stone. My first stone was a Star129 also but that ring was stolen in 2009.

And a few of the stone that GOG took of it loose.

Lec, I love looking at your Tacori setting. It really does look like a crown! Sometimes I wonder if I would want my sola to be more intricate looking. I wish at least the crown was paved in diamonds like the HW one :sweatdrop:

Ame- That is so gorgeous! Darn it...you really aren't helping me! And I do mean that in the best way possible because now I'm interested in looking more into star diamonds too lol. I think I'll drive my bf insane before the year is through :D

Whoops- wow, that is crazy, since I heard black inclusion is the worse that there can be right? Good thing you reminded me, because all of the stones I looked at, I was just worrying if it was triple 0, I didn't even think about the marks because I assumed that it would be eye clean if it's a VS1- VS2. And I totally feel you, the diamond selection process is so long and daunting. But as of right now I'm just going to wait until Valentines is over and hopefully the stores will restock and we can have more choices :)

Kohl- hehe are you being temped to the Tacori side? ;) But honestly though the yellow diamond sola is so gorgeous though, and very unique too. Either way, we both can't go wrong :D The one big con with the Tacori setting is that it's set VERY high so I would need to take care of it since I'm going to wear it everyday. This jeweler that I spoke to, he said Tacori can do a special setting for me and make it lower, but I think that it'll take away from the side profile. The fact that it looks like a crown is one of the thing that I love the most about it hehe. Oh, were you able to transfer the ring?

Lec - I've heard mixed reviews about the black inclusions. Some people can't accept it while others can't accept a feather near the girdle that may potentionally hurt the durability. It's all a matter of preference.

I think we are heavily leaning towards getting this diamond. http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/7616 After consulting and talking to my dad and my bf we have decided to just buy and move on! As much as we both want to keep going for the perfect diamond, we all want to just move on and start the planning process for the wedding. It's not worth the time effort (and I'm sure eventually the budget will go up because it's already been creeping) for the time to get that perfect diamond. Diamonds are from nature and will most likely be flawed. I've come to the conclusion that I can live with that.

omg congrats! As long as you love the stone and have no mind issue with it then that's all that matters! That's what I'm looking too, I just need to get a stone that can "speak" to me haha. And yes about the budget creeping up, we started looking in November, as of right now, we've agreed on going 2k above budget if we can find what we're looking for...sigh.

I think we all experience that budget creeping up. Ours got out of hand. Much more than I was comfortable with but the bf has been so nice to me and wanted me to have what I wanted. We started off with a $10k budget for everything... and it went from the biggest/best diamond we could get on a plain platinum solitare >>> size small tacori 2620 plat no side pave with a 1 carat best we could >>> size medium tacori 2620 plat no side pave 1.26 carat G si1. We overshot the budget by a little under $2k.

Also, GOG has a promotion right now that I plan on taking advantage of, if you purchase a TRUE h&a with a designer setting, they are giving 3% off the diamond. Which is perfect for us because it makes it much more affordable! Just a thought if you plan on purchasing your Tacori through them. Not sure where you are located either but I'm in California and buying from GOG is not taxed so even better! We saved a lot this way as compared to b&m stores.

I hope you luck in your search!!!! My bf and I just hated what this process was doing to us. We want to just buy the ring and move on so we can start our lives and plan the wedding.
