Heart shaped diamonds -- what do you ladies think?

An engagement ring is a very personal thing if you want a heart shape then get a heart shape but try klots before you choose. It can be difficult to find a good proportioned one.

Hearts are often more expensive because of the risjk involved when cutting diamonds have a cleavage, which is a point when if stuck can fracture the diamond. Heart shapes & marquise cuts are close to the cleavage so many stones are broken when cut and it may be more fragile in day to day life so you need a setting that will protect it.

Not to put you off just so you are aware of the risks

Great advice!!! thank you so much...i've never thought about this on my own....

Personally, I think a heart design ruins a diamond. I believe diamonds are best cut to show off their brilliance. I think heart shaped diamonds are a gimmick and don't have the classic look of traditional diamonds.

Personally I love heart shaped diamonds, especially in a bezel setting. It makes the shape stand out, and yet is more subtle at the same time.

I'm not a huge fan of heart-shaped diamonds. I liked them when I was younger, but now that I'm in my twenties, I prefer the other shapes more. It might have something to do with the fact that I already look younger than I am - I guess I feel like heart-shape diamonds would make it worse.

I actually don't love round diamonds, though! I agree that they're classic and pretty, but I'm a princess cut girl. From the moment that I laid my eyes on that beautiful square shape for the first time ever, I knew that I love it - and that hasn't changed. Almost all of my diamonds are princess cut.

I think they are whimsical and sweet! Very happy diamonds. Personally I wouldn't invest in one as my forever engagement ring... but I saw one heck of a pretty one at Tiffany's the other day and it will certainly make some lucky woman smile!! :)

Oh, and Elizabeth Taylor wearing the diamond heart Mike Todd gave to her just before he tragically passed away:
