Oh HHHell, Mish! You sort of saw it coming, right? Do you think two and a half months is enough? Do you need to focus on one or the other? They both sound like fantastic ideas.... Can you rent a kiln as a stop-gap? What is the LC training like? I think you'd be great at that...
Thank you!! Yeah, the lactation consultant idea relies on me having more time. I've already been in school for it, but took off the Spring semester. I can't fit school in with my FT job, so it's been hard to figure out. I don't actually need THAT much more school, but need to get it out of the way so I can do my internship hours.. It's really just about 5 short prereqs (first aid, CPR, and some others), plus Biology, and a bunch of classes I already took... Then I need to do the other LC class (did the first in the Fall, the second was Jan/Feb, so will have to do it next year). Then my mentor hours (need to find a mentor and it will be about 500 hrs total). The clay thing would make my schedule way more flexible.. I need to call around some more to see how I can get the clay thing going. Ultimately I think I'm best to get a kiln first, but I'm pretty overwhelmed with thigns to do, so it's hard to figure out what to focus on first... I don't want to say it out loud, but having a couple months off to sort this stuff out would be a big help...
I'm trying to move towards my goals slowly. I realize that when I work FT and have C FT, I don't really have enough bandwidth to make much progress....
MIshka - that is crappy but....I'm feeling like you weren't terribly happy with that work and clearly you have some great new ideas for moving forward into new lines of work. So take a big deep breath and maybe spend a little time choosing one of them to focus on first.
However ---- you are def permitted to freak out a bit - all these changes are scary. But girl!! - look at what you've accomplished SO FAR. Like being a single mom and moving to a new city.... You have what it takes to be successful.
Thank you! I really appreciate this sentiment SO much! I believe I can do it. I have the tenacity to make it happen. It's just getting that first few steps started. I really full believe that I can make the same $ with these two ideas. It's just a matter of getting there.
I agree with everything Jenni is saying! Hang in there, it's a scary time for a lot of us, you are not alone by any means! And I agree with Sally, you have everything you need to be successful!
Which way does your heart point you?
My heart points me to have my girl home more, and do the clay thing because I can do it while she is here (most of it), and then I can work towards my Lactation certificate. I think that it would be a wonderful life to do clay work for people and families, and also help people to breastfeed if they want to. My goal with that is just to help support them so if they want to breastfeed at all, they have the support they need.
I have some other ideas too, related to other crafty things, but these are my ones that I'm fixated on and believe would really be successful.
Eek mish! Glad that you got a little bit of notice there. I think you'd do a great job eith an online kids boutique or any of the options you mentioned. Hang in there!
Going to be a really long day. Have a flight in 3 and s half hours and can't sleep. I also have to clean when. I get home.
Thank you!!! Have a safe flight!!! Sorry you had the insomnia!
