Very well said!I've checked out bags because they were so popular. However, in the end, I ended up buying because they fit my lifestyle and my needs/wants. If a bag is popular but I can't use it, I see absolutely no point in purchasing it just to have.
I had several phases - I had the snob phase, so for example i was carrying Celine bags before PP took over and the luggage craze broke out (I no longer carry Celine now because the only bag I liked is the Box and I don't like the issues that come with this expensive bag). I had the try them all out phase, so I bought several brands and sold a lot because I found xyz didn't work for me. I bought the LV speedy and sold it because the handheld doesn't work for me.
now I am at a point where I don't care who carries what. I bought a LV mono bag because I like the bag, not because everyone has it (actually it is a LE) and I didn't reject it because there are fakes and people have it etc. personally I find that there is too much attention on these things, so who cares? it is funny that people pay a lot of attention to my LV bag but I have carried much more expensive H and because they didn't know, they didn't bat an eyelash.
I will carry my mono bag even in, gulp, Paris where apparently it is a no no and I will wear colour there too, another gulp, because I find any kind of uniform or one way style truly ridiculous. it is all about the attitude and your confidence. for this reason I love London the most because truly anything goes and no one cares.
so buy what you like, others have it, don't have it, copy someone, don't copy someone, honestly it doesn't matter as long as you have fun.
ETA: the only thing that I now consider is resale value because I have lost a bit of money during my adventures, so that limits the market a bit.
Great post...quick question...what do you mean by mono bags in Paris are a no no. You are referring to LV? And if so, why is it a "no-no" there?
thanks - I think they don't like any monogrammed bags, understatement is preferred (there are threads in different parts of the forum that mention this). nothing that announces a brand basically
