Have you been priced out of collecting LV and resent it or do you see current price rising trends as a positive?

I do feel I’m getting priced out. I have a good job at a firm that paid really well, but the raises haven’t been on par with recent inflation and cost of luxury goods. If you are anywhere in middle income, you are feeling the squeeze.
I adjust my priorities over chasing higher income, because I love what I do at the place I am. I am also not a risk taker, try to jump from one firm to another for a little bit of an increase in pay. And frankly in my industry my company still pays really well.
I have a huge concern about lack of appreciation for skill and education by employers and general public in general. It’s really sad that when a teacher would make more money as an influencer pushing cheap Amazon crap rather than educating children.

I hate phone calls and I hate waiting. We live in an instant society with information overload with the touch of our fingers! So this is very annoying to me. So when I see this on the LV website, I just ignore that item altogether or just leave the website.
Same here! I saw that message on one item, said forget it and checked another item and got it again so I left the site! When I'm in the store and pick up an item and it's not priced, I can't stand having to look for someone to give me a price. I usually just skip it!

I stopped looking at current LV collections about a couple of years now. Right now I'm looking at vintage pristine condition pieces and enjoying my older pieces.
To me luxury shopping is a want and not a need so I could never get caught up in
a fomo moment. For me it's a yes that price increases and lack of quality control is a plus for me because the money I would have spent on a high end designer item I have made the choice to invest that cash into my investment portfolio.

Me too!
Also, I only go in to the store if I happen to be near the store, and there's no line.

While I don’t love the price increases, I understand it is business. I am not priced out, but for most of the canvas pieces it’s not worth it to me. I would rather add a leather item at that price point. I think it’s easier for me walk away from canvas because I’ve been collecting for 15 years and content with what I have canvas wise.

I’m now in the process of building out my leather pieces and while I’m interested in some of LV’s leather offerings, other brands have been more interesting-of late.

I’m glad I went a bit crazy buying when I first started in early 2019. I was able to get everything I really wanted before the large increases. The bags that were last on my list that I purchased in 2021, weren’t super popular so they didn’t have big increases until this last one, so I got lucky.

I haven’t had any interest in the recent collections, and although I have a few empriente leather pieces that’s not what I gravitate towards with LV, so I’m pretty happy with what I have.

My luxury collection is half LV with the other half consisting of Gucci, Prada, YSL, and Givenchy (bags, SLG’s, Accessories, shoes) and that consists of over 50 items now, so I’m good.

The only thing I’m still eyeing is maybe another shawl, and some simple everyday earrings/necklaces. But that’s about it.

I also don’t believe the huge price increases were “just” due to inflation, or lack of materials. One doesn’t go from an 80 billion dollar man to a 180 million dollar man in 18 months, due to raising costs bc of inflation. It’s just greed and being opportunistic. However, it’s a business and they’ll continue to raise prices as long as they can. There will come a time though when it’ll have to level off, bc……who’s gonna be paying 3K for a mini pochette in a year from now when they were $310 a couple years ago.

I bought my first LV bags between 2007 and 2014. I had 5 and sold 3. I recently got back into it at the end of last year. My collection has gone up to 8 and about 10 SLGs. I think much of what I bought was overpriced and even I was gobsmacked at the price I paid for some compared to when I used to buy it. But for now I am at LV peace. My wish list contains 6 bags none of them LV. I get prices go up and things increase but I have been buying across several designer bags for 15 years and none have gone up like LV has. I can still buy a high end designer well made leather bag for under AUD$2k that isn't from LV. So I am done with LV for now, I've bought all the ones I wanted to. There's others I like but won't spend the money on them.
Going to focus on completing my wish list as is for now and hopefully have a break (never happens always something new to add), but I can't keep supporting these LV increases when the quality has slipped over time (I haven't had any issues personally but I have seen increasing complaints and have seen some in store I wouldn't purchase due to issues, only a matter of time before it's my turn!).
I still have one LV I paid just under $3k for that is still within return period that I am seriously considering returning just because of the price. I could get one of my wish list bags with up to $1500 change or buy two if I did! Love the bag but the price is my issue. I don't feel it's worth that price but the price will only go up again and if I change my mind it would be even more... I have already decided not to buy any more so perhaps I should just keep this last one. Privileged dilemma to have I know, given what's going on in the world but I have about a week to decide....

I didn't start eyeing LV until I was in high school (2016-2017). I didn't have a job, couldn't open a credit card (luckily lol), and just lived vicariously through YouTubers. I always wish I had a time machine so I could go back and convince my parents to buy me just ONE bag  I have a decent job now but with the decrease in quality I'd much rather go the pre-loved route... I can't justify the price increases when there's quality decreases.

I have always been and will forever be a lifelong Vuitton LVoer. 99.9 % of my bags consist of iconic, limited edition and traditional Louis Vuitton new and vintage pieces, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have been able to amass such a varied collection. I'm a bit disheartened that the simple staples are no longer in a reasonable price range for the average wannabe luxury buyer, because attracting new buyers is what keeps the brand fresh and sustainable. Those who can afford to shell out the extra hundred bucks to buy the newest release will become fatigued with it and more so with the substandard mass-produced product quality. I LVoe the brand's history, and owning items from past collections keeps me more interested in purchasing these older, harder to find items. One thing positive about the astronomical price increases is, for me at least, that I won't be buying pricier items that won't hold values as vintage pieces. I will be admiring my LVoelies that surround me in my boudoir while living vicariously through all of your new posts of the latest releases !!

I’m the same, I bought several pieces early 2019 that are now either discontinued / I simply wouldn’t buy at the current price today. I’m also grateful that I managed to get these right before everything went crazy. And some of those smaller pieces have literally doubled in price.

Yes and no but I am amazed at how much prices have gone up, I paid $195 AUD for my monogram key pouch and it's now $450 AUD! One of my bags and my wallet are discontinued so I don't know how much they would of gone up. I bought my monogram pochette and Alma pm second hand but I think I paid around $200 for the pochette and $350 for my Alma and the pochette is now $1860! It's been quite a while since I have bought any LV and I am shocked at the price increase .

I am kind of priced out in the sense that price and value of what I am getting from LV don´t go hand in hand anymore. I am totally regretting not having bought some items (mainly SLGs) 6 years ago. But back then I would have never anticipated that prices will rise as crazy as they did the past 3 years. I always thought "well you can still buy this later" - when all the nice SLGs where readily available and reasonably priced. I totally miss the times when you could just walk into an LV boutique and get whatever you wanted (e.g. mono key pouch, mini pochette).

But today seeing those crazy prices there are only a few items left I would still consider buying - and that list is very short, mainly (still) the Speedy B 25 DE (heavens know why I still haven´t bought that one ), another Alma BB epi (still waiting for a turquoise one - maybe one day...) , perfumes and a monogram shawl.

Yes it is somehow nice to know that I could sell my older LV items without a loss these days, but I am actually not planning on selling them. Because when they are gone they will never be replaced...

I saw foxylv stories saying there might be a teal/turquoise color Alma bb coming in June-ish. Speedy B 25 DE, I would suggest getting it as soon as you are ready financially and when it’s available. It makes no sense to wait for another PI to happen again because the price is only gonna go up. Althernatively you could try to go pre-loved to get a better deal.

I hope this will come true. I have been waiting for many years for another turquoise Alma. There had been one 7 or 8 years ago but that was before I started buying LV .
For the Speedy, there always seems to be another bag that I rather want to buy than the Speedy B 25 DE. Also I already have 4 Speedies (3 in size 25). But that does not stop me from wanting the 25 DE also. But right now I am more interested in adding some variety to my collection with some Saint Laurent bags.

Before the "massive" tax increases of LV handbags I had fun browsing around the LV stores and finding handbags I love- and buying them. Now, it is a different story. I doubt I will buying many new LV handbags. The prices are too high now. It is not a matter of being able to afford the new high prices-they just do not seem to be worth the price. I already have many LV's and will be happy with what I now have.
