So this year I teated myself to the most designer luxury. Purchased my first Gucci and Chanel pieces ever from the boutique as well as Coach and MK boutiques. I bought one LV and really wanted more for my birthday next month. To be honest seeing how far the prices have come for LV and seeing so many of the canvas pieces I would want just out of stock has really turned me off to LV. I’m happy with my purchases for this year and I am actually hooked on the Coach Pillow Tabby. My DH and I are looking to sell our house shortly and I think I am also going to re evaluate my whole collection and pair down to what I really love and use vs have not used in years. Also - I have bit bought hand bags like this in years. But loosing my business and having no where to go and no one to see I figured since I am
Not going out that now it a great time to replenish and update my wardrobe. I am actually doing the opposite with clothes. Getting more dresses and jeans. I have lived in yoga gear for the last 5 years. (I owned a yoga studio) and now, I can’t even stand the sight of workout clothes. I wear my comfy cute jeans with a nice sweater and sneakers to go for a walk instead of my usual go to yoga work out gear. I know so weird right??? Everyone else is in joggers and leggings and I’m like give me my dresses and espadrilles and healed boots. And yes. My pretty purses and make up. Definitely finally learning how to make up. I’m so make up challenged and I’ll be turning 45 next month. Lol. I also feel really good about being with Coach and loving the direction they are with now. My Chanel wallet in orange makes me sooooo damn happy when I pull it out to pay for anything. I don’t even feel like I need a bag from
Chanel. I don’t feel like I need anything else Gucci or MK. I might have a tabby pillow obsession. Ohhh and shoes!!! Omg shoes. Like so many new shoes this year. I am really all set for a few years. Lol.

Yes and no. I'm not taken in by labels, I want quality and a level of uniqueness. I have looked around and wondered why I had so many clothes because where am I to wear them now? I think post pandemic the business world will continue to be more casual because of WFH.

I AM SO HOPEFUL. I don’t understand why our non-client facing roles here require business wear. I’d gladly wear my non-work casual uniform of non-distressed jeans, blouse/sweater, and flats/ankle boots everyday if that was the new mandate back at the office.

i've clothes that I'd never buy except I must for work. Changed companies and this one is casual which is fine by me!

@pandorabox agree 1000% about LV. The price increases along with the lack of inventory on classic pieces has turned me off completely. Why do I want to spend days stalking a Mono GM cosmetic pouch that now costs $150 more than last year?? I would rather take my dogs out to the river and use an REI backpack and enjoy life.
@LemonDrop - right???!!! I always a fan... stalked for year.. had some pieces.. sold some pieces. I have never until now had the desire to sell off every LV piece and just never look back. I feel like I am SO over it. I gotta be honest, I have tried several designers over the years and my favorite and really amazing quality of leather keeps bringing me to Coach. I feel so good when I carry it. I love my Gucci camera bag and Coach bags, and my one Chanel wallet and scarf way more than anything LV I have ever had. I am kind surprised. In the last weeks or so, aside from petting the Pillow Tabbies, I have been rocking my belt bag and going for walks a few times a day with my kids and hubby. Enjoy life. Eat more ice cream. :)

The price increases for LV and Chanel during the height of pandemic made me re-asses if I want to buy products from companies that are greedy. LV is one of the most profitable companies in the world. They have huge profit margins, which just grow each year due to price increases. LV quality has also declined too which just makes it worse.

However people are still buying a lot from LV which is surprising with the pandemic. The only thing I have bought since last march is food, sweatpants and exercise equipment. I sanitize my bag and accessories after I come home so I use my longchamp nylon le silage to work.

Yes yes yes! And I think someone on the youtube also talked about working as their sales, they get treated really badly and given bad guidances for sales. But they get paid next to nothing. Maybe they've been always like this. But they got too big for their own good and got too greedy.

I was a die hard fan. But no more. I've always bought based on style needs.. But within LV. Now? I will do so regardless of brands and eventually phase out LVMH brands entirely.

My entire perspective on life changed. Before covid, I would be head to toe in designer. A trip to the grocery store, and id have my LV scarf, some cute gucci mules, and a nice designer crossbody like a Chanel or LV. I was soooooo taken in by labels. I had a special fund in my bank account just for purchasing designer items in my wardrobe. It was taking over my life, trying to keep up with all the influencers and designer fashion. Then covid hit. When I saw all the racial disparity, job loss, deaths from covid I realized that carrying a $2000 dollar handbag around town just didn’t work for me anymore. I work in healthcare, and all the stories I heard about people dying, about the increase in child abuse, about the uptick in children’s mental health problems, etc, etc I couldn’t swallow spending nor carrying such expensive bags. I proceeded to sell most of my collection ( except my Chanel bags, because I truly love them and never tire of them and hope to pass them down to my daughters one day.) I’ve used some of that money to pay it forward and help some people in need. I’m not cutting out designer bags completely out of my life, but do I see myself purchasing any in the near future? Probably not. After selling my bags, I purchased a few Polene bags to carry on the daily and I absolutely love them. Amazing quality, minimalist, and under the radar. I don’t see myself grocery shopping with an LV anytime soon. And no judgement to those who do, everyone has different opinions and lifestyles, this is just mine. ☺ I still plan on carrying my Chanel bags for special occasions or a night out on the town, but at this stage in my life, I don’t plan on carrying a designer bag every single day.

I’m totally turned off by the whole wait lines to get into stores. Seriously, I will NEVER wait in a line to spend money. I don’t think this is a safety issue any longer in my area. It’s strictly about not staffing properly and wanting to create the illusion of demand. You can look in the window and see an empty store so it’s not about crowd control and safety. Any way, if I can’t find the item in an easy accessible way, I will keep my money. There’s nothing designer that I ‘need’…

I had a return which was easy to manage in-store so I went to the 'mall' only to find lines to get in. Though I must say I didn't have to wait long in the least AND I don't need to try anything on..when purchasing items that have the same fit. Don't care if it's JCrew, Lulu or otherwise, not going to wait in lines...I love shopping online.

i actually think this pandemic has made me more willing to spend money on designer items. they make me happy and i always struggled with guilt over that but i don’t anymore. i was extremely sick when i got covid, it was the only time in my life i truly thought about what would happen if i died, what my life looked like, etc. it made me more committed to doing whatever makes me happy, regardless of what that is. i absolutely agree that there are more important things in life but the days i’m happiest are typically the days i am dressed up and feeling good and feeling empowered which is what fashion does to me. life is too short to get yourself into debt or focus on the wrong things, absolutely. but life is also too short to not embrace the things that make us happy whatever they may be.

I haven't felt the need to purchase much of anything during the Pandemic. Overall, designer purchases had little purpose or importance in this new world. I have to attend an outdoor wedding in a couple months, so did treat myself to a new dress, cardigan and shoes. I have to admit, it did feel nice to think about looking pretty and pulled together again. I have neglected myself and resorted to far too much lazy loungewear during the pandemic.
