Has anyone purchased a bag from Bag Borrow or Steal?

i've bought a couple bags from their outlet and you definitely have to be careful. i bought a white dooney and bourke that said it was "gently carried" and arrive to me not white at all with completely stained handles. but the less popular designs i've bought have seemed in mint condition (granted you don't get tags, but that's to be expected). i think you just need to stay away from buying IT bags and no one will ever know! oh! and sometimes you can get the bag for like $70 more, but new from department stores, so definitely do your research.

some of their prices are not very good, but the less popular brands seem to get further marked down compared to a gucci for example. i've never bought or rented from them, but if i see a bag i like reach 60% or 70% off, i'd buy it without hesitation. unfortunately, none of the bags i like reach that far.

I know a lot of us have purchased bags from Bag Borrow Steal's outlet (www.bagborrowsteal.com) and you can sometimes get great bags at great deals. I've found excellent deals on everything from Botkier to Chanel at their outlet.

I was just going to purchase another bag this week, but right before I hit the buy button, I saw their new, "fine" print.

They used to give a 30-day return policy for all outlet purchases. Then that changed to 14 days, from the day you purchased the bag (not from when you received it). NOW, their return policy is "Store Credit Only." They are no longer refunding your original payment method which I don't like at all!

On one hand, if you purchase outlet items regularly, you will use the store credit up but I have purchased expensive bags, that smelled pretty bad or were damaged in some way, and promptly returned them. Since all BBS states is that the bags have been "used" and don't disclose what is actually wrong with them, you have the chance of buying a nasty bag that you can't get anything but a "Store Credit" for.

They are pretty firm about this new policy and it is a new policy, since I bought a bag less than a month ago and they still had the 14-day return policy at that time.

Just thought I'd give everyone a "heads up" about the new terms.

I am in the market for a Louis Vuitton handbag. I don't live near a LV Store so I thought, why not rent a few styles from Avelle - Bag Borrow or Steal and try them out for a month and then choose. Then I can make the drive to LV Boutique. Sounds like a great idea!!

Check out the website that states: "Our products are in perfect condition.
You’ll either receive a brand new item from us or one that looks brand new — because it's undergone a comprehensive 15-point refurbishment by our in-house team of experts who are trained to maintain designer-quality merchandise in like-new condition."

First rental - Beverly LV Clutch in Mono - horrible scratched and was in less than ok, nevermind perfect condition. - sent back - in store credit

Second rental - Popincourt Haut LV in Mono - smelled like perfume, scraches, pen marks, and very very worn leather (and I'm not talking about the patina which I love by the way!!) - sent back - in store credit

I contact Avelle when receiving the rentals and was refunded my money via store credit. Not back to my credit card.

I thought ok, well third times a charm right? I'm a positive person. ;)
Third rental - Galliera PM in Mono - This one took the cake!
The bags vachetta leather had obviously been painted, in an attempt to "make new".
It hardly resembles an authentic Louis Vuitton bag now as a result.

*Listen if you want to paint your bag, it's a free country. BUT, don't claim something is new, advertise that the bag is in near perfect condition, and charge a luxury rental fee.

I wanted to cry when I saw what they had done to this bag, I had a moment of silence for her and back in the box she went.

Just a warning for those thinking of RENTING or PURCHASING.... what you see on the website and in the pictures is not what you get.

Yikes. I borrowed from them before, and it was a hit or miss. But they should be able to return it to your credit card... Don't know if they changed the policy though. I stopped borrowing from them because they're acquiring cheap bags, and styles that are ugly...
