has anyone heard about a ban letter from coach ???

Were you returning to FP or Outlet? I'm trying to figure out which store you think generated the letter? My outlet says they have no purchase history from FP so I'm wondering how you got flagged? And I think it actually is a person flagging. There was a lady reviewing pleats on a Sophia in my FP store the other day. She had sat down and going over every stitch. She finally decided she wanted one ordered. She then pulled out another one (prev purchase)that was in a bag and asked for a new one because of defect. She then asked for coach paper and ribbon. My SA said she was a reseller overseas. I asked why she had not got a ban letter and she said oh she will. That's why I'm wondering if it's done at store level or corporate level?

I returned primarily to the outlets, but on rarer occasions returned to the FP store whenever I received a defective item that had been ordered through the store (from JAX) or whenever my FP store did a backorder/found order for me (I forgot what those two terms mean) essentially they were ordering something that was only appearing in the computer system at JAX, but at one point in the past, their in-store ordering system wouldn't allow the SA to put in the PCE price when doing a back-order/found order, so they would just ring my stuff as full price, then when I received it in the mail, they told me to bring it back in, and by then it should be appearing in their system, so they would do a return and then re-buy of the same items giving me the PCE discount.

I do believe that someone at the outlet store was the one who may have 'pointed me out' to Corporate and that store was the one who gave me the ban letter, followed by a mailed version of the same letter from Corporate shortly thereafter. As I mentioned in an earlier post in one of these ''banned threads', the manager at my FP store didn't even know I'd been banned because he kept emailing me to remind me of upcoming PCE events and asking me if there was any new items (not yet on the website), that he could order for me.....I was ignoring those e-mails but when he sent an e-mail a few months ago, I came clean and said I'd been banned, and poof my PCEs (that I'd been regularly receiving even AFTER my banning) stopped, so I guess he reported to Coporate that they had a screw up somewhere in giving a banned person PCEs .

I see why they might ban you for returning without a receipt. I got an ipad case that was $79 plus 30% off during the 4th of july week. I changed my mind and went to return it but forgot the receipt home, I paid about $58 with the discount, but since I had no receipt they gave me credit for $79.

I can see some twisted people buying lailas at 40% + 30% and then getting a lot more in store credit

But don't they have your purchase history and the ability to "look up" your purchases?

Wow! It's what I thought, I figured someone at a store level has to generate it. There are lots of heavy volume shoppers and they have not got them. Some are resellers but they fly under the radar or no one turns them in. That would explain why your FP store did not know. What's crazy is the stores encourage you to buy/return. They tried to get me this past week. I flat out told them no they will not ban me. They all pretend it does not matter but it does. Again wow is all I can say! Do you still shop there? I personally would not. I would buy more LV's and pass through to show them their loss.

My outlet says they have a record of the last 14 days. So apparently that's as much as they have on site. But I am sure someone at JAX can look up everything on their main computers based on your last name and zip code, which is what they always ask me when I order from JAX.

Once one of the SAs made a crack to me about how Coach "keeps track of everything" based on the credit card I use. I do use the same CC most of the time so I would think that's easy to do. But I am not 100% sure that is effective since people often use multiple cards (like my mom).

WHo knows?

Didn't CA go through this a few years ago when Coach was tracking everything people were buying and that's supposedly illegal in our state to do this? It appears to me that if people are getting banned, they are clearly still tracking everything one individual buys. Katherine

Actually I had started taking a liking to LV about a year before I got banned, so my LV purchases DID increase a lot during my 'pissed off at Coach' phase after I got banned, but with all those d%&$ price inceases LV had, I got miffed at them, and went back to Coach. I am still able to puchase Coach online (at both the factory store and the FP website), not sure why, but I ain't questioning it! I haven't bought anything in person at a FP or outlet store since summer 2011 (except for the occasional keyring that I would have a friend buy for me when I was on vacation at an out-of-town outlet).

In my case I live close to 3 different outlets, on is 2.5 miles down my street, the other two within a 20 min drive. I bought it in one outlet but returned it in another because they had the bag I wanted. I asked the girl if they could look it up and she said they only keep the info in the original store where the purchase was made.

I'm not sure if they have a record of your info in every store. I've purchased in full price stores several times and some stores can find my info right away and some others can't, it's odd.

Well thanks for your honesty, I personally think its sad one can be banned without merit. I think they should focus their energy on resellers and counterfeits.

Amen to that!!! I have never figured out why they can't work w/ E-Bay to catch the resellers, but to me counterfeiters are their bigger fish they need to focus on catching!

You're right. They work with ebay to have factory sales in there, why can't they work with them to stop resellers?

And IMO, resellers aren't that big of a deal either. I mean, they are paying Coach for the bag and the item is authentic, counterfeiters are the big problem they have to address, they're making money out of the brand and stealing designs and potential sales, that's the major problem they should focus on.

Even returning a lot WITH a receipt might potentially result in a ban letter (at least that's what I speculate happened to me since I received a ban letter last year). At the time I received the ban letter I was told that I can continue to return as much as I want (w/ receipt of course) but I could no longer purchase from the FP or Factory stores....

So you're not allowed to purchase anymore? Wow! That is some nerve a compAny has to turn away business.

.14 months later and still no response!

I called the number too provided, no response!

Here is my story:
I did get a letter a few years ago for returning without a receipt. I went into the fp store and the store manager told me and then gave me the physical letter. My rule is now: i HAVE to have a receipt for any return or exchange. Sometimes I did, sometimes I didn't. Sometimes I had it, offered it and they said 'don't worry about it': they didn't take it. This is what happened right before I got the letter. The SA at the time, right before the letter, is now the store manager. The letter happened before she became manager though. Another thing is my store wasn't carrying the bags I wanted. They would say I could order and return: no problem! So I did. Now when I go in, I feel like a criminal. Like they all know, which they probAbly do :(

I don't think you should 'get in trouble' if the bags are unused and tags on: which the bags ALWAYS were, unless they were defective. Yes, there were a few times they gave me fp gift card when I used a PCE. If they want you to always have a receipt, they need to make it mandatory. I don't care how many times you return, they have to expect t: a bag is a very personal item. People could not like it for ALL kinds of reasons. And a company to be that cocky, they can turn away money......

Now I'm getting a little worried I may get the 'ultimate no purchasing' ban letter. I returned the grommet bag a few days ago -- with receipt. I had originally purchased the colorblock duffle which I exchanged applying the money to grommet. The difference I paid in 2 visa gift cards and my credit card. When manager ob duty did return she put the money back on 2 visas, difference on cc ($105ish) but the remainder (300+) said she would have to give me a gift card because I didn't bring the receipt I originally had to purchase the cb duffle. I told her I didn't realize I needed THAT receipt too, just grommet receipt. Wouldn't their systems show this, I asked? I really wanted the money back on cc but agreed since I live over 1.5 hours away. She said cc can take their license away if they don't have proof of payment; although they gave me back my receipt. On an item I just returned and no longer have???? Now I'm wondering if she put the remainder in as 'no receipt'. When I was contemplating taking the gift card she said 'you shop here all the time'. MAYBE I come once a month, but there are several times I don't buy anything. A little worried now......

And again 'loss prevention center' doesn't return calls.

I still don't understand .....if they know all your purchase history, why can't they look it up if you don't have your receipt like Target does?

Coach seems to have a very outdated transaction system. When I returned something the other day (without the reciept, because I had called the store to order from Jax into the store, and never got the original transaction receipt) they had to go into the back and look it up on a separate terminal.

But then today I returned items on 3 separate receipts and it all went back on the card as one transaction?? Makes no sense. I work in enterprise software and I have no idea how, in 2012, their system could work so backwards.
