HI~
Being banned from Coach basically has to do with being going to a Coach outlet and buying mass quantities of certain styles of Coach and reselling them on Ebay or Bonanza to make a profit. (Resellers) Some people have received letters from Coach Corporate after the management at the outlet has alerted Corporate. Once a person receives a "Ban Letter", they are not allowed to enter a FP Coach or outlet and purchase Coach. (Not sure if the ban also includes department stores.)
I have never received a letter.
I have never heard of anyone getting banned for buying at FP and then returning after finding it cheaper at the outlet. I have heard of some people getting a PA at their outlet after getting a bag at FP. (within 14 days after purchase)

Interesting thanks for posting these threads. QVC sounds a lot like Coach. Their 30 day return policy is extremely liberal...to the point that on air the hosts encourage u to buy and try it out...if u don't luv it then u have 30 days to return or more if it's the holidays. They sell Dooneys, B Makowsky, and other nice bags. Most bags that have been worn or r inferior in some way end up reduced As Is. But sometimes u will get an item that is supposed to b brand new that has obviously been carried. Good thing is that u can exchange with no hassle. Sounds great, right?

Well, they send out the dreaded letter as well for too many returns. I think they warn u first and if it continues u will get banned. I've heard they also send out a letter for too many cancelled items...I dont think they ban u for it they just ask u to choose mire carefully cuz it takes time to locate items in warehouse.

I'm assuming this ban applies to people who really abuse the policy (item after item impulse buying and returning week after week). One lady on a forum says that she begged to b let back and they refused. Qvc likes shoppers and money so i would think it would take a lot to b banned. I know my mom has been an avid qvc shopper over the years and has bought and returned quite often and she never got a letter. I'm assuming Coach is similar to this. I think it would take an awful lot of returns week after week to receive a ban. Both Coach and QVC encourage returns if u don't like something so il guessing the average shopper wouldn't b affected by this ban.

I used to work for QVC in CS, so I can offer some insight. Like you said you have to return or cancel A LOT to get banned. The problem with excess returns and cancellations, also check abusers, is it messes with their business model. A lot of items are impulse purchases while the product is on-air. When someone places an order QVC sets the stock aside, if that item sells out the another shopper goes without. If that person then cancels then the item is returned to stock - they don't always offer a waitlist. Do that 80% of the time then it becomes an issue, kind of like guilt free shopping were they never have to actually pay for anything.

As for returns there are customers that will buy an item and use it for 25 days and then return it, again do this 80% of the time again its a problem.

At least QVC will give you fair warning - which is more than Coach does. Unless it has changed the QVC letter states along the lines that our items clearly do not meet your exacting standards, please consider your purchases carefully. If the shopper continues then they are banned. The Coach letter straight out accuses you of being a reseller. period.

Having said that some people are just unreasonable. I had a customer who had declared chapter 7 owing QVC thousands who was upset at being banned. She wanted to order but pay with her debit card so she would not be using her Qcard, and couldn't grasp the concept that even though the court discharged her debt QVC never got paid and no your business is no longer required!

I just read a recently posted thread regarding returning items bought at FP after you see it in the factory outlet for a better price. Someone mentioned that this behavior could lead to getting banned from Coach.

Now, that kind of behavior does not apply to me as I have never even been to a factory store and buy all my bags FP usually on PCE. One of my bags came off of the bay....the only exception. However, what is this about being banned from Coach? I've read about it on here before, but don't fully understand it.

Has anyone on here ever been banned like that? If not, do you know of it happening to someone elsr? If so....why? What happened? Is it a lifelong thing? I really want to know, have never really heard of something like that before.

Coach is coach. Factory n FP r one n same. Ppl think less of outlet bc its not a full price item. Ppl hve been banned from FP.

Wow....so much info available on this topic, thanks for all the info everyone. Also, apologies for bringing up a subject that has kind of been beat to death, I was in a hurry last night and just quickly saw the post about being banned and was curious.

Regarding someone telling me that " coach is coach" and FP and factory are both coach, I am well aware of that, don't know why that needed to be clarified for me. The only reason I brought up that I always shop at FP stores was to reinforce that I was not practicing returning to FP after seeing a better deal at the factory, as the other poster had originally asked about, thus generating the "banned" subject matter...and therefore, my question about the practice.

Everyone has their own way of shopping coach. For me, getting a bag is a rare and special occasion. I live far away from either a FP or a factory store, but have established a relationship via phone with my closest FP store, and they are who I buy from.

Would like to say I recieved a lovely letter from my SA at "my" store telling me she hoped my dog was doing better and wishing us well. I had not been able to use my last PCE due to high vet bills when my dog nearly died and I had mentioned it to her a couple of weeks ago. Very sweet IMO.

However, financially, things are a little better this PCE, and my new crimson Lindsey is on the way! :D

Thanks for clarifying this for me. I buy mostly at outlets and sometimes when I go through a returning phase I fear my return may be rejected or a ban letter may be heading my way but I doubt that would happen because honestly I return very few things. But who wants to experience problems with a brand you love? Not me! I appreciated this information. Thanks.
